Peter Jackson’s King Kong was one of the greatest movies I ever saw 19 years ago when I was 10 years old. I remember during 2005 I think mid or late 2005 my dad told me there was gonna be a movie King Kong and I was so excited to see it. When I saw Batman begins and Star Wars they showed the trailer for King Kong and I was so excited to see it . By December 2005 during Christmas break my dad sis and my grandma saw King Kong and it blew me away. The filming and story telling was so amazing and exciting. After the movie was done I couldn’t stop talking about it or thinking about it. Now that I’m 28 to almost 29 I’ll remember watching King Kong over and over again.
I love the 2005 film the extended edition and i don't care what people say about the film it is a good masterpiece and i love the technology and the visual effects i saw it when it came out on dvd when i was 5 years old and i still watch it and play the game to this day.
@@jediteacher820me too . The extended edition is more cooler. I agree it’s still the best film . I think fans are just not getting the point. Wow you were just a little kid when it came on dvd 18 years ago 2006 .
This story is timeless. Your video got to me. Thank you for appreciating Hayse's speech and for delving into the real meaning of this story. It's far more than a monster film. it's a film about our own humanity... and Kong's.
I'm surprised this only has 1k views. This is one the most beautiful, and well done analysis I've ever had the pleasure of watching based on the Kong franchise. I really hope this video gets more attention as it deserves, because my guy, this is a masterpiece.
The connection of the King Kong myth to the ongoing American (and wider human) cultural psyche no doubt explains the character's longevity, like how Godzilla is inescapably tied to Japanese historical struggles and cultural themes. The more time has gone on, the more I love revisiting this particular King Kong, and wished Peter Jackson ever found the spirit and drive to make another film like it.
Just looked over the comments again, and wanted to say thank you so much. If my creation made you feel like that, then I can unabashedly say that I have succeeded. I can't tell you how much your words have touched me. Thank you for convincing me I'm on the right path🙏
I watched the whole movie 2 hours ago. It's not the masterpiece I thought it was, but it was not a drag, as some may say. Rarely did I find myself bored or tired of a scene. This is one of the few rare monster movies where the humans are interesting. I love the two times when both Kong and Anne are on top of a high place, looking at the golden hour. They both understood that it was beautiful. On a less formal note, I remember watching Kong fight off the V-Rexs, and I was like, "Yeah, a CGI fight scene that has me caring about the characters, just like Optimus in the forest."
This video essay is nothing short of amazing, deep, and immensely thoughtful. I cannot think of any other video of this incredible movie that expresses such things. 10:37 as a puerto rican descendant of the tainos native to my island, I am more than pleased and honored that you aknowledge both the history as well the heritage that makes part of me. I thank you.
This was the first King Kong movie I ever saw on dvd I would watch it when I was little at my cousins house in Nebraska Lincoln. Ps I always cry when Kong’s dies.
Actually they were going to do it. But it was brought into the monsterverse and made into Kong: Skull Island. Though now I wanna make my own Kong Kong sequel. Or prequel.
I would prefer the prequel, probably some adventure of natives during Kongs youth, or during the downfall of that old civilisation where monsters broke into the walls, relation between natives and Kong's species, something like that
Hi Empirah, this video was very well done and a great analysis. I did a review of the movie on my channel and gave you a shout out 😊 keep up the hard work!
*_VERY_* well-done analysis (👏)! *Not* to dis the MonsterVerse versions of Kong and Skull Island (I personally feel they're genuinely interesting and creative in their own unique, individual ways), but I've _always_ felt Peter Jackson's version of this primordial world and its lonely king just has _more_ going for it as far as scratch-built lore, world-building, authenticity to the time period, and theming. So, while it's _understandable_ why some criticize this as a 'self-indulgent bloated beast' of a film, I've always never really felt that way.
One of the main critisisms of this KING KONG was it's length on it's release, BUT I never noticed this in either version. I felt for the Gorilla more than I did in the original (probably because they could get far more facial reactions using the cgi technique, & ann Darrow spends more time with the Ape - the charming scene in the snow in central park for example, among so many remakes made this is by far the best to me. Also a worthy awesome music score to rival the original films. I also enjoyed the KONG SCULL ISLAND film, did you? which had a different emphesis, being morality politics, and the madness of a futile War great symbolism as Kong represents the enemy that America had to withdraw from
Yeah, I enjoyed Kong Skull Island a lot, even though I was a little disappointed when I saw it back in 2017. I now see it as a very original, very well directed, and very entertaining Kong movie, one that wants to create a world where Kong's story telling potential is far more boundless then it ever was. The film made it possible to explore Kong's character and mythology to a degree the character definitely deserves after a century of retellings😊
Who would have thought a political King kong story could work but they got it to they reverse engineered the tribal people this time having them worship him, rather than fear & he ISNT kidnapped to America nor did he die, the landscape is VERY different as well Viet Nam its the 70s & all these changes, work well@@StudioEmpirah
Wonderful video essay! I love this movie, too! It aged incredibly well. I agree with you, that Peter Jackson was wise to leave out the whole erotic subtext between Kong and Ann, which is clearly there in the original Kong from 1933 and also in the ill-conceived remake from 1976. This erotic tension between a giant ape and a blonde beauty is silly and slightly distasteful. Showing a deep friendship and bonding between two individuals from different species is much more powerful.
Great 👍 video. I always see the moneymakers from the studio trying to stop Carl Denham to leave New York as another form of hungry dinosaurs, that want to catch him.
King Kong 2005 must Come Back since he Survived the Fall off The Empire State Building into a Coma.... Ann Darrow should be his Side Kick or Wife so they can Create a Beauty and The Beast Movie but called KiNG KONG 2024 where King Kong 2005 still looks and Acts the same but is So much Bigger than Current KONG and Scar King.... Like Peter Jacksons KiNG KONG should be 500 feet Tall with Ann Darrow on his Back/Shoulder

I was in 6th grade when a trailer for king kong played in theatres, was going to 7th grade in 2005 and the excitement was through the roof
14:52 Ann can be seen reading Jack's play "Isolation" at several points in the film before she meets Kong.

Your analysis made me cry. So well done. You captured my soul with your narrative. So insightful.
Good luck to you You are a soul man ❤🙋🏾♀️

This is incredible. Great work. One of my favorite movies ever.

Greatest Dinosaur movie EVER!
Kong 05 needs a sequel. Carl's in jail, the crowd wants justice for Kong. Anne didn't marry Jack. (She's too heartbroken over Kong's death).

Why didnt this win an Oschar for it's sound track music?
Peter Jackson's King Kong is an amazing movie and I really enjoyed it because of the deeper meaning of the story
Great analysis! and breakdown I grew up on this movie and felt the same way you did!!

Oh great another commentator viewing things through a lens of critiical theory
Twas EGO that killed the Beast!
glad to know I’am not alone
King Kong should be with Anne Dawn Darrow.
It can never be though. As it was said, it was beauty killed the beast.
