Thanks a bunch! I could've read the instructions ten more times and still not have gotten this information from it.

My machine came with two long brackets installed and the spared were both short. I couldnt figure it out for the life of me. Thanks a lot. You saved the day.
I got this annoying customer watching me so I had to slip away and watch this video so i didnt look like i had no idea what i was doing.😂
Thank you for the clear instructions.

when swapping the brackets, it is impossible to mess it up. the screw holes are staggered, so if you were to put the brackets in the wrong place, or have them facing the wrong direction, the bracket will be visibly at an angle, telling you that you did it wrong. so basically, there is only one possible way to put them back in. if you were to put the brackets in the wrong way, you will instantly understand what i am describing. great video by the way!

Thanks for this instructional video. I just swapped my Rheem air handler for a down draft and the instructions from Rheem that came with the system are far from desirable. Yours are much better.

Hey Dave.. The new Rheem/Ruud units comes with those "extra' brackets so you no longer have to remove the installed ones. You just have to bolt on the new ones when you flip the coil...
Also, the screw holes will only line up "ONE WAY" on the brackets.. They're "SCREWUP PROOF" LOL....

I didnt swap sides with the brackets and busted the drain pan. I was very confused for a few days.

Speaking as a NC licensed HVAC contractor for 36 years, who has installed many Rheem/Ruud units. Their air handlers in my opinion have always been sub par..... Always have disliked them. Too much labor to flip. The condensing units, I have always liked. And 1/4 screws are ridiculous. Surprisingly, Goodman air handlers are much better designed. Thanks for sharing your video.

I just did alot of remodeling, and the coils need a really good cleaning. Can I use this coil removal method (on a not new out of the box unit) to take coils outside in order to hose? Thanks in advance for your answer. Devon

How do you clean the coils on a unit like this? I have one just like this but its a 5 ton, so the coil is a lot taller, but the same N shape. Mine is only 4 years old and smells like toe-jam likely due to it having been installed without a condensate trap.
Unfortunately the coil's design is very enclosed like the one in the video, and it looks like the aluminum pipes were soldered on after the side shields were put into place by the manufacturer, restricting access to the wet or possibly dusty underside of the coils and the drain pan where grime and mold would collect. I've been considering just spraying coil cleaner on the top side of the coils as a last resort, but that seems it would do a very shoddy job of reaching where it actually needs to go.
Any tips on units like this?

Hey David, glad I found this video. I recently had this same unit installed. Then my ceiling caved in 2 months later. It had been leaking since installation and not draining out condensate line. After seeing the video I found that the support brackets were not rotated for h right position. Also I see in the video the top of the coil rests perfectly with ceiling of cabinet. On mine there is a huge V gap. Its sloping and leaning down\backwards. I'd love to get your input. Are the support brackets also screwed into the rails on coil to hold in proper position?

Russ, did you fix this (get rid of the V gap)? I have the same situation (recently discovered). My hvac peeps don't want to touch it.

Hi: Nice video on how to setup a Rheem airhandler horizontally. I have one question: Which condensate drain hole will be the correct one to use when the airhandler is finally installed horizontal in the attic..??? I have the diagrams and the holes are labelled Auxillary drain connection horizontal application(Ibelieve that is the one to use), Primary drain connection, and Auxillary drain connection upflow and downflow application only. Thanks, John Willier, Hernando, FL.

Is it normal for a company to warranty the air conditioner and furnace
and NOT the evaporator because they used a different brand? Lennox did
that to my less than 5 year system and if the evap goes, Im SOL!

So just a up flow to downflow conversion

    • @roycelader2316
      @roycelader2316 3 месяца назад

No, reconfigured from factory installed left hand service with left hand drain to right hand service with right hand drain. It's still setup to flow as it did from factory, blower is pulling air through instead of pushing. This unit, turned 1/4 to the right, will sit just as it is in the video upon completion of conversion. Most likely for attic install. Flow up/down can describe a vertical application which you won't have if installed horizontal. Now you have to think positive/negative pressures. Pull/push air for left/right handed service. It has a different effect on drainage, can actually pull a vacuum through one of the drain ports
