This is a message song that is relevant today, as old as it is. Let’s face it: the Temptations were the best R&B group of the 60s and early 70s. Mixed Vocals...fantastic! Such a excellent presentation.

The Temptations all black male singers consist of Otis Williams, Melvin Franklin, Paul Williams, Eddie Kendricks, David Ruffin and later Dennis Edwards. Legendary group!

Namaste. I’m impressed with the knowledge that you have about music that was made fifty years ago and on the other side of the world. It’s completely understandable that you might miss the cultural context of some songs. It’s not necessary that we all like the same music. This is a great song by the Temptations. They have many.

This song has played 50 years ago, on vinyl; I heard it on the radio as a teenager in 1970 and if you listened to it every decade since, you'd find the song is relevant for EVERY decade since. There are a few things that aren't true anymore, such as the Indian Reservations and The Beatles, but that aside, everything else has been consistent every decade.

Diana Ross was part of the Supremes, and the members of the Emotions were three sisters.

If it is a personal opinion, there IS no right and no wrong! How can there be? It is an opinion, And you are right, the way to do this is honestly, and if you do not like the song, that is fine. Not every song is going to be liked by every person on this planet, that is not the way it works. And thank you, it is rare today to have people sticking to honesty whether the public likes it or not! I applaud you for that.
Have you ever listened to George Carlin? He was a very funny comedian, BUT he was also very intellectual, and would make fun of things that most comedians of that time (70s to 90s) would never dare to do. And he always made people take a new look at thoughts, in a new light, simply because he saw how the 1% ran everything, and much, much more.

When you reacted to Papa Was A Rolling Stone, I was hoping you'd get to this one as well. Two of the best bass lines ever, and this one goes deeper into what was happening in the world at that time in the early 70s. And sadly, still relevant.
