- Many people have asked me to post a real time rush hour video of the North, Northwest Metra lines near Ogilvie Station. Here it is, enjoy!
At the beginning, there are some shots of Blommers Chocolate factory. I heard from people that the store is closing while the factory is being upgraded. I've notated all the revenue trains, but there are quite a few trains that are out of service, just deadheading to or from the yard near Western Ave Station which is about a 2.5 miles away.
Ever since I was little boy, I love the design of F40PH locomotive, After I watch this video, I learned something about the F40PH, they are amazing 😉, thank for the “FACTS” about the F40PH! I love trains especially passenger trains like Amtrak and commuter trains like Metra of Chicago and CalTrain of San Francisco!
Same
Awesome video, love the meticulous annotations of the schedules!
Thank you very much. It was a lot of work, and my computer sure worked hard rendering all the text and video.
I feel like this would make for a great railcam
Funny how the mechanical bells on Clinton Street Railroad Crossing (shown crossing at bottom) were replaced in favor of newer Type-3 Siemens type e-bells. This is such a nice video, why didn't I railfan on the parking garage before???
love the sounds.
Fantastic Video !!! Superb👍👍👍
Hello Luke!
As usual enjoyed your video.
Do you know what the ridership is on these commute trains. As long as they are and as many I would like to know if
they are well received and at least almost full.
YES!

Nice Video! Not sure if you get asked this a lot on your channel but what kind of camera do you use to film your videos? I've been looking to save up for a new camera so I can stop filming my videos on my iPhone.
I actually film on my iPhone a lot and it takes great video. This video however was filmed on a Canon GX10 camcorder.
@@Luke_Starkenburg Holy hell! A GX10? Those things are 2 grand! I'd kill to have one, though.
Good stuff!
Why haven't they electrified these lines yet? Sound pollution in these areas must be absolutely awful
I agree, but also the intense screeching of the wheels around the sharp curve is annoying. Real air pollution from the diesel locomotives is more concerning to me! Also steel dust from the wheel/rail interaction is not healthy for humans. (I would love to have a maglev system which would be super quiet, emission free, and wouldn't have the steel dust problem.)
Hope they leave the trains as they are
@@robertpreston2220 You enjoy pollution?
@@Virre737 yes
@@robertpreston2220 Agree. The electric lines always have problems and that is the last thing we need!!!!!!
I like the Metra Ride Part
Where were you when you recorded this?
This is from the pool deck at the K Station towers.
Very very nice video!!!!!
Thank you very much!! I appreciate your comments!!
@@Luke_Starkenburg Really thank you for sharing your great videos!!!! Good to have a small getaway with your videos!
I didnt think they were still running this many train with everyone being quarantined now
This is from 2018, I think.
@@utahrailfan1946 Oh ok thanks
They are running on a modified schedule.
Did you put a filter over this?
I increased the saturation for the first clip 10 minutes of the video. I didn't have enough storage on buy computer to do the whole video.
I know I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again. Need a railcam here.
I would love to get a place there with a balcony with this view. If I lived there, I would try to put a railcam on my balcony.
Is there any high speed train in Chicago ? Toronto-Chicago ? Montreal-Chicago ? Boston-Chicago ? NYC-Chicago maybe ? Saint Louis-Chicago ? Or not ?
There is no true high speed trains in or out of Chicago. The Amtrak route from Chicago to Detroit Michigan operates some of the time at 110mph (177kph), and they are upgrading the Chicago to St. Louis to operate at 110mph also. This is fast, but not high speed.
@@Luke_Starkenburg that is still high speed. No need to go THAT fast.
Nice
Awesome video, new friend here

Why is the factory closing?
Bought by a Japanese company I think.
Ok, I should have done my research, only the public store is closing temporarily. "The family-owned business was sold for $750 million in 2018 to the Japanese company Fuji Oil Holding Inc. It’s still run by Pete Blommer."

@@Luke_Starkenburg this is a great video though
