We are travelers in time. In this new series, we set out to break the deathloop that dooms us to repeat the past over and over again. For that, we went to France to find the most fascinating forgotten structures. Let us know what kind of exploration you want to see next. Of course, this journey lies already in the past, but we have filmed all sorts of abandoned sites in France.
How lovely would it be if someone could transform it in a museum!! This type of location would be perfect as a movie set or weddings, events. It would be a lot of income and it could be fully restored a piece at a time
The library is the biggest heart break after the craftsmanship ship of the artist! How many amazing stories were left behind just look at those pictures!!

I always say that theses guys really know what their doing,! Start to finish they never disappoint! I've seen documentaries on Amazon that aren't as good as BWT!!
Epic imagery! And these old books... what a crime leaving them to rot away. The reason the paper and print is in such good condition is, that paper of the 19th century and older was produced without acidic substances, which make paper turn yellow over time, especially under UV rich light, such as sun light.
One thing that I love about your video style beyond the cinematography, is your clearly intentional capture of nature. Showing plants as individuals. The capture of the various bird calls throughout the first half, which sounded so good it must have been captured separately then layered back into the video after? Idk...anyway, it shows these are made by someone(s) that actually love nature :)
These places come from nature, but they are also dismantled by nature again to be part of it once more. Thanks for your nice comment! And you are right: Most of these bird sounds are added/recorded seperatly. It's sound design as we video nerds call it.
It never fails to amaze me that you always capture small details that fit together to help us see the big picture. For instance, dust coming off a book or the wind blowing an insignificant piece of fabric. It sure stirs the imagination and engages the senses. BTW, I think Sascha is a great addition to your explores.✔️
France is such a strange place, it’s hardly ever talked about and rarely seen on the news feeds. And all of these abandoned beautiful Manor, and that huge conference hotel are so weird just sitting there rotting away. It’s spooky that their never used for anything and not even restored and it can’t be for lack of money, France is a lucrative country. Thanks so much for taking us along fascinating stuff for sure
I always hate seeing books left behind anywhere but seeing your video was heartbreaking: so many priceless treasures! The deterioration of the buildings since Toby was last there does not bode well for it's renovation. Even though some of the buildings were being worked on, I'd be very interested to see this place in another 2 or 3 years. Keep a possible return on your calendar, perhaps? Thanks for sharing another great video, with your typical insightful narration. I'll be waiting for the next one! Take care!
To come back here is just possible if we find other places in proximity to this one to make it worth a trip. Always very difficult to plan our routes. But you're right - this place is worth a revisit for sure!
Your intro, scenery photos, and narration is wonderful..it brings lite and history and intrigues us into the stories behind these abandoned places. This place is still beautiful, and would have been even more luxurious in its time!! Thanks for this magnificent tour into abandoned France!🧐💖
Thank you for the epic feedback! This was just the first of many France adventures. We have filmed so many more explorations. What kind of place would you like to see in the next episode?
To be in this chateau..took my breath away when you took us into the cloistered area..much is lost but you have captured the remaining parts for us to view before the ruins are no longer visible..maybe a rescue could be attempted again..
You don't have to ask what I want to see!!! I want to see what ever you do! Your videos are always filled with compassion and respect for these wonderful abandoned place you find! I'm a person of moderate means so seeing these great mansions deillick and abandoned I always ask myself, how can anyone be so rich that they could walk away from all this beauty and Craftsmanship! Well that's what the wealthy do!
These estates are like yachts on land. Holes into which you pour cash. You don’t own these estates they own you. At best you’re a custodian. At worst you are fighting an uphill battle every day for survival. No one wants to walk away from their heritage, they do it out of necessity and practicality. Don’t ever think that it doesn’t leave a hole in their hearts.
I live in South Africa and cannot believe the things you are exploring! I can't imagine the feeling of seeing these pieces of history... Holding the books from hundreds of years ago... Gazing at the artworks... It is completely incredible to think the lives of people that have gone before us. Good job guys! Good for you to document these things before they are gone forever. 😍😍😍
Well done guys..if it wasn't for people like you , these places would be totally lost to us...at the same time, it's absolutely heartbreaking to see such a beautiful & historical building just left to crumble..
That Library just broke my heart. The college English professor in me started to cry.😢 What a sad mess, all those books left behind. --@GlennieMGPIS, in Vermont, U.S.
I love watching the channel! When asked, I tell all my friends and family that this is what I am into watching on my free time. I definitely see, Broken Window Theory, having their own series on Netflix or alike. The history they show, the respect for the property and it’s items, the grace they express when describing reality of life in the places they visit is all very comforting. I have a whole new outlook and respect for history and life after watching their videos. ♥️♥️♥️ You guys are awesome and if you ever travel to the US in South Texas, let me know. Beautiful home! It makes me sad to see all the art and books crumbling! Thank you for getting a video of it before it’s gone. Hopefully, the renovation will continue and artifacts and books will be saved!
Thank you for the amazing video! All of your work is marvelous. Whoever writes the intro does a fantastic job! It's engaging right from the beginning. I also really appreciate how much respect you have for all the places you visit. It shows a high level of integrity that many others don't exhibit. Thank you for being so courageous! I look forward to your new videos.
Oh, this was fascinating seeing the art work and the library! Unfortunately this amount of history is fast being forgotten and trying to save it for generations to come is getting harder to stop it from crumbling away as the cost would be so expensive to preserve it. Back in its day just would have been so beautiful to admire and living within these walls, one could just totally escape from the outside world. I always look forward to your next chapter Till! You always do your research and present it in a way that it totally makes me there looking within this history that once was, totally immersed. Tobi captures the history with the photos and especially seeing that he was there 2 yrs ago before, gives the idea that since then and now how the state of these buildings are deteriorating quite quickly. Take care to you all!

I love the new intro! Both the multi panel videos and the people n names shots. Great idea. Gorgeous shots, as always. I love when you keep the ambient sounds in, like the birds chirping, the sounds as you struggle through the weeds and trees to gain entry to a structure. This place must have been stunning in its day. The library… wow! So grateful that you have Tobi’s gorgeous photos of a couple years ago as reference points. Thanks for this. I’d forgotten how beautiful your French explorations were.
Thanks, Judi! We thought it would be great to have some kind of introduction in the intro because new subscribers always struggle with the names, haha.
Especially love the new intro (and music choice) If I had to choose only one way to describe this video... It would have to be a Work of Art within a Classic Work or Art! From the amazing surroundings to the Works of Art left behind by the wealthy. Cheryl Campbell has said this perfectly - "People so wealthy they can just walk away from homes and businesses" - Just as though, it didn't matter. What a stunning property….beautifully seen through your lenses. As always, your editing, musical choices and philosophy draw me in. My home is more than 100 years old and filled with antiques, art, and a specialized library. To think of it ever ending up like these homes you explore and document would be heartbreaking. I am glad they are restoring and protecting some of the buildings on this property…hopefully the main chateau and cloister will also be preserved. Stay safe out there.🖤🇨🇦
Amazing as usual! Location, film, narration, the story... That's the problem with France, so many palaces and chateaux that you can't renovate everything! Keep up the good work!
Oh my gosh. The condition of many of the priceless pieces is stunningly beautiful. The stained glass -- WOW. I'm with you all--why does the owner not take care of these gorgeous pieces within the cloister?? And the library!!!~ Excruciating, the loss of such exquisite books of the arts, culture, and wisdom. My heart aches.
I just stumbled upon your channel earlier today and we’ve been watching your videos for a couple of hours, now. The amazing photography, brilliant music and thoughtful commentary mingle beautifully to make your explorations magical and ethereal. I have a keen interest in history and vintage architecture, interiors, etc., so this is my newest favorite thing on RUclips! Thank you so much for documenting and sharing your incredibly cool experiences!
Thank you for your appreciation of these sadly neglected treasures and places. I’m happy and sad at the same time watching this. I’m sure your work will encourage some owners to rethink how they’re treating these magnificent and irreplaceable places.
Just amazing ✨... I still thinking you are the best in Uber. The places, the way to film them, you create a really magical moments just right there for us! That's amazing! Thanks and all the love from Argentina! 🪔🙏🏻😌🇦🇷
GREAT VIDEO! LOVED IT!! One of the artpieces in the garden reminded me of a piece at chateau Noisy. There it was in a corner on the ceiling from the front door. In this video it was on a pillar. I'll go check my pictures and send it to you so you guys know what i mean ;) Amazing place you've visited, beautiful.
Wow what an amazing place this is, some beautiful buildings and artefacts, this is a fantastic video, love your soft voice and learning the history of the place, thank you so much. (UK)
What a beautiful mansion! I love the french style. So sad to see that this wonderful place will disappear if no one takes care and rebuild. I never had seen such incredible library with books 150 years old and still in good shape! The quality of those books are so impressive! Same to the paintings! This place could be an museum.
I literally just started watching their channel today. And I clicked on this one because of the library. As a avid reader and lover of antiques and history, the abandonment of the library is blowing my mind, but in the worse way possible. I would be in aww to have in 2 or 3 of those books, and someone just left it there! I mean maybe the original owner had a reason to leave, but the new one? seriously? Come on! On top of which, I speak French and English, so I could read those! I even had to read older French documents too, so I could probably try reading the really older ones too!
With so much money, everything became empty and trivial, but others could have enjoyed those books and works of art. Giving can bring joy to the heart of the giver. That's why it's better to give than receive.
Amazing footage. Love your video's. Its so sad that these ancient books are left in this abandoned home to rot and get destroyed. These are priceless books that may not have another copy in existence. You should report this to the national library of France. I'm sure they would be able to find a way to acquire them and save them.
Hey Loyi, this place is in France. Hey Timur, thanks a bunch for your great comment! We can't be sure if these books are originals or not, but let's just say they are... Yes, this should be reported, and yet, this peoperty still belongs to someone. Someone owns these books. This person doesn't seem to care but it can't be taken away.
Oops! Apologies. I realized I had just watched the vid on the millionaire mansion one located in Italy and went to the comments on the next vid (france!). Smh! Anyway, loved that latest episode. More please.
Yes, yes, your documentation style is first class, but I'm starting to think these places you find are so epic that they don't actually exist, you guys just have some really good CGI! ;)
I love following your explorations, not often I leave a comment, but I had to say this was to fantastic not to. What a gem, even in ruins it is decadently stunning
Wow! Me also lost in the time with all of you. What a videography and mind blowing narration ❤️ Can't wait for the next one. Thank you so much for this wonderful explore. Love ❤️❤️❤️
Why is this not an archeological site???? From the various styles of buildings, I would almost suggest there has been an almost continuous recidence since the Roman's...
Beautifully filmed! I wish I could go on a trip with you all! just to embrace the full level of mastery in the crafting of these structures. The history, the relics. Wowza
You all do such a wonderful job, thank you for that! My favorites are chateau's that are filled with stuff from the past. I especially love when you show us old books like you did today and tell us the date, show us the inside. It's amazing to think that a book you opened might be the first time in 200 years or more that anyone has looked at it. I love details like period pieces, furniture, treasures in the attic of a chateau that are usually even older than the stuff down below. Anyhow, that's my favorites, chateaus and chapels. Love the ghost town places too. lol Some industries are just kinda boring. Have a great evening! Love from Florida!
10/10/2121 THANK YOU one and all. I am sad that so much beauty can be left to fall apart. It is part of human history, after all; something which really belongs to all of us. Keep safe fellow travelers! Best wishes from the land of Oz.
Beautifully done and narrated! The cloister is an interesting combination of the old and new (well, 19th century). I'm guessing the relics embeddied in the cloister's walls are mostly 19th century grand tour souvenirs, beautifully presented, but not enormously valuable. The chapel's glass looks very old (I am no expert). Whoever built the place had both taste and money. The book in the library wasn't from 1667 - the illustration shown was very typical for circa 1840.
This place is many hundreds of years old and those artifacts, if original, look thousand + of years old. The books that were there originally - hope they are saved somewhere. The ones you showed on this trip are priceless too.
It‘s almost unbelievable, how places like this could survive for so many years… people who build this sites surely had a lot of understanding , love and devotion to crafts and set their signs for decades..centuries😇 how slow times where back then;)))thanks for surprising us with new places wherever they are.. maybe one in a northern country in next years😎 Greatings to Till from Klaus.. he saw this video in the first 5 mins ..er sagte: an alle weiter so.. er ist völlig verblüfft und unheimlich stolz😃😎
Amazing, thank you! Die Grüße wurden auch an Till weitergeleitet. 🙌 Let's see in the future how buildings from today look like when they remain abandoned for several decades.
Merci beaucoup pour cette visite. On another video of yours, I finally could find your the name beside your picture: TILL, I imagine that you go by this name here. I appreciate how you speak in English, When you speak German I use the translator it's awesome. When you find old books in French I wish you made a picture of the covers so I can look for them on line to read. They are our national treasures. All the crumbling castles have so much history to tell even when it's taken back by nature. You make us dream of the past again. Danke, merci . Thank You.
You guys always do a wonderful job documenting where you explore! I love the care you put into each video. They are always so haunting and interesting. I hope you can come to the United States to explore some interesting places. Maybe even meet up with the guys from Proper People like you have in the past! It would be very interesting to see your perspective on abandoned places in America.
Thinking about all the personal histories n drawings of what grew and was so long ago that's now gone for whatever reason. Sigh. Seeing the cloisters n thinking how it must have looked in its prime...sort of like looking at a long lost immortal lover. Your videos take me to another level that I dearly miss in these tumultuous times. Very precious. Place to go; how about an old monestary?
You guy’s have done every kind of explanation, this hit a nerve with me, how can people just leave this kind of Beautiful history behind, what happened to the original owners?
It looks like the house and grounds were abandoned because of an inheritance dispute or the family has died out. It takes years for it to settle and the renovations is very costly. You must be a millionaire to have this renovated. To me ( a non-professional) it looks as if this house is too far gone.
Your documentary style is awesome! So sad to see such beautiful buildings left behind en decay… should be preserved and used, because we don’t make such beautiful and detailed buildings anymore

I always get excited when you post!! They are spectacular moments💥👍
Just amazing ✨... I still thinking you are the best in Uber. The places, the way to film them, you create a really magical moments just right there for us! That's amazing! Thanks and all the love from Argentina! 🪔🙏🏻😌🇦🇷
Yes, we are very good cab drivers 😉😄
Thanks for joining us on our adventures!
So interesting to see these historical sites. Thank you for documenting them before they crumble away. A fan from Muncy, Pennsylvania USA 👍
That shot at 12:40 took my breathe away, so beautiful! By the way Ceramics is pronounced Siramics
What a beautiful place!!!! I also like the way you take us through and your description! Love this place!
It's in Italy....
It’s so sad to see the owner let this fall apart. I’d b so proud to own this building.
Thank you for taking us along with you on another amazing find! I'm addicted to your videos!
Fortunately you can get a fresh dose of BWT every two weeks! 😁
Every step inside this place reveals craftsmanship and history of those classy people 👍🏿
Another awesome film. thanks!
Yes, yes, your documentation style is first class, but I'm starting to think these places you find are so epic that they don't actually exist, you guys just have some really good CGI! ;)
You are right. We switched to a greenscreen studio years ago since it's way cheaper. 🤣
18:40 That painting looks like a Cezanne. Even if it's neither it needs to be rescued! It could be worth tens of millions if it's the real deal.
This place you have explored is absolutely gorgeous. It reminds me of the movie The Secret Garden. Good job guys from the USA
Wonderful to see such a place that hasn't yet been completely destroyed by ignorant, destructive children and thieves.
I love following your explorations, not often I leave a comment, but I had to say this was to fantastic not to. What a gem, even in ruins it is decadently stunning
Lovely photography and narration, as always 👍
💥💥💥 We will also start working on our 2022 Urbex Calendar soon. That one will feature our best photos from this year.
Wow! Me also lost in the time with all of you. What a videography and mind blowing narration ❤️ Can't wait for the next one. Thank you so much for this wonderful explore. Love ❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for your kind words, glad to hear you appreciate our production that much!
Outstanding video! Your team is fantastic! Again, beautiful photography from Tobi! ❤
Why is this not an archeological site???? From the various styles of buildings, I would almost suggest there has been an almost continuous recidence since the Roman's...
Because Europe is littered with stuff like this, whereas in America we tear tear down 40 year old sports stadiums!
also because they won't reveal where this actually is
Yet another absolute masterpiece! Truly stunning content. Thanks for sharing
Beautifully filmed! I wish I could go on a trip with you all! just to embrace the full level of mastery in the crafting of these structures. The history, the relics. Wowza
LOVE all aspects of your videos! Thank You!
Much appreciated thanks!
Amazing production- next level!! 💙 from the Mountains of Blue.
Great video guys🔥
🚀🚀🚀 We can't wait to go back to explore more of abandoned France!
@@bwturbex Haha yes i understand. France is really beautiful😍
It‘s almost unbelievable, how places like this could survive for so many years… people who build this sites surely had a lot of understanding , love and devotion to crafts and
set their signs for decades..centuries😇 how slow times where back then;)))thanks for surprising us with new places wherever they are.. maybe one in a northern country in next years😎
Greatings to Till from Klaus.. he saw this video in the first 5 mins ..er sagte: an alle weiter so.. er ist völlig verblüfft und unheimlich stolz😃😎
Amazing, thank you! Die Grüße wurden auch an Till weitergeleitet. 🙌 Let's see in the future how buildings from today look like when they remain abandoned for several decades.
Omg you people are so beautiful I loved that the books stopped you in your tracks and that you could see the importance of them
Loved that episode amazing!
The books 📕
So cool !
Thoroughly impressive episode, lads!
Thank You.
Man, the cinematography is outstanding. Thanks for the adventure!
Your work is absolutely beautiful. I'm so happy I found this channel!
Amazing place, you never disappoint!
This is gorgeous thanks so much for sharing!!
Excellent work!!
Thanks a lot Marnie!
I love all you explore so don't care what's next, you do such a wonderful job!
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS YAY🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Let us know if it was worth the wait!
Loved the video, loved the music ! 😍 very entertaining and educational !
Thanks buddy, that's our mission!
Your documentary style is awesome! So sad to see such beautiful buildings left behind en decay… should be preserved and used, because we don’t make such beautiful and detailed buildings anymore
