So I decided to take a trip up to Knox County to re-record this nice, classic SD-10 located at Washington Elementary. Ever since Leopold's SD-10 was replaced, this has become the closest one to me as these sirens start to become ever more scarce. This one sounds pretty healthy and loud especially directly underneath. You can get some nice reverb if you place a mic right around the corner. But as always, it was another fun experience and props to the EMA who met up with me and for also setting this off for the full cycle. They actually set off the entire system from the SUV to the right.
Sirens in Knox County are usually tested on Saturdays at 11:30 by the EMA on mostly clear days. Tests are usually not conducted during the winter, especially if the temperatures are below freezing. If you're interested in recording here, definitely check with the EMA first.
Enjoy, and as always comment, like, and subscribe for more. Thanks!

Those SD-10's still send chills down my spine - Los Angeles County tested these the last Friday of the month at 10AM and you could hear them echoing which was scary.
los angeles? the air raid sirens? didn't they deactivate that cold war system back in 1985?
@@atsf47legit Yes, most of the sirens are still in place, just disconnected.
@@StevieinSFVery few of the sirens actually still have the power connected, bird nest material will would clog it up though.
@@atsf47legitThats interesting
That’s some amazing reverb!!
THAT IS TOTALLY AWESOME!! LOVE THOSE CLASSIC SIRENS!!!
It's amazing to see these old sirens still running well. Awesome video!!!
Brandan Heasley these never give up!!
Did I ever forget to tell you that you are an amazing siren enthusiast!
I know right
Really dig that mounting location
This is an awesome recording! The SD-10s near here (Cadillac, Michigan) are being removed sometime soon after the county decided to go with CodeRED. I'm in contact with them about possibly receiving one and restoring it.
Damn the echoes are impressive.
My favorite classic siren
That SD-10 sounds nice
I think this thing could go against the Allertor.
Siren Wars: The Duel Of The Duals
Very nice video! I love the echo during the whine down. When do you plan on coming back to Tennessee?
If he does let me come to a test or something me and music city sirens never met up yet
If any more siren enthusiasts subscribe, I'll post more siren videos, there's still a lot more for me to do and record!
Great video! I recorded this one in 2018. When I returned to Knox County in Feburary of this year, they told me they weren't testing, but they ended up setting them off at 1:15pm. It seems like they are undecisive. Missed the test too.
That was probably the day we had an unintentional activation from the dispatch center. A safe guard was added since then.
Very nice catch! But i noticed something:is your profile picture a FS 508?
Yes, it is!
@@DSRX100 Oh wow
Awesome!
I like sd10's but i gotta say, being surrounded by 8 of them is insane
I wonder if it went off when those Daikins were being installed!
That reverb is insane
OH BOY SIREN TEST
Oh thats nice! Nice shot btw!
Nice video keep up the great work
That's a nice reverb
Cool siren

When I think of sd10s I think they are Federal Signal Allertors.
May I use audio from this video in an EAS scenario?
Oh yeah whoo hoo
Nice duel tone 0:08
Duel of the dual tone Pfft
Sounds like Allertor 125?
Same port ratio
It has the same exact port ratio as the Allertor
Eeyup
Is it still there
Brad Sullivan yes
Those are my favorite
Sounds like a aca p10/allertor
On the same day I first went siren hunting 😃👌
0:08 Siren ON
2:59 Siren OFF
Hey if your looking for an sd10 siren to record I know there’s 2 in Fentress county,TN one in Clarkrange fire department and ones in alldart,TN in a model 3 housing
Very nice! Do you happen to know when they're tested?
@@DSRX100 I am not sure
@@DSRX100 my best guess would be the first Thursday of every month but idk what time they’d test during the day One you tuber called middletnsirens he filmed a video of the siren in allardt,TN he might know when they test
@@DSRX100 allardt tests first thursdays of the month at 6 PM rain or shine
I think I've seen one of these sirens in California before.
Foxy Forge they had some model 3s aswell
Foxy Forge they had 5s, 500s? SD10s, Model 3s, Mobil directos thunderbolts and a lot of other things but they were in Culver City (directo and thunderbolt)
Foxy Forge yes, Culver City is LA I’m pretty sure
Los Angeles has tons of them scattered around, but inactive.
Sounds likes Model 5T/7T and allertor 125
I always thought Sd 10 was made by aca
No one recognizes the fact that every siren is different
reminds me of los angeles!
wow
