The problem I encounter with this cloth simulation is that my computer simulate real smoke from the exhaust fan.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
I cant stop laughing at this comment
😀😀
With zero render time.. 🤣🤣
hahaha
Love these byte sized tutorials...not too fast as Ian Hubert and neither too slow.. perfect pace!
Totally agree with this..Ian is too fast
Ian shares my name don't talk shit about him 😒
Try watching royal skies llc
Both have a place! Basics and slower to learn the interface, then when you’re intermediate and know the interface, these quick techniques are great.
But to any beginner, this would still be too fast lol.
@@devendrapal9 I've been watching him since last year ;)
Andrews voice is so soothing, I use this tutorial as a bed time story
literally, i've watch hours of his videos and his voice now very calming and soothing
No doubt there’s a place for both of these types of tutorials!
For a total beginner, spelling it out step by step and slower is a lot better. A beginner doesn’t know the tools, or how to even easily navigate and orbit their object.
But these are phenomenal for intermediates! We don’t need EVERYTHING spelled out, but these techniques are useful to add to our tool belt.
definitely keep both up if you can! I had done a bunch of tutorials including of course the donut, but until you did a specific and spelled out modeling tutorial with the chair, the concepts hadn’t REALLY stuck.
So there’s a place for both styles and I hope you can keep up both!
I like this quicker style tutorial, though I really love the random rambliness of the usual step-by-step tutorials.
That polygon ad was so smooth it felt like it was subsurfed.
Good pace, I like quick tutorials at this point, when I mostly understand Blender but also when you do slow tutorials there's much more hidden stuff not related to the object you make and that's even more valuable.
1:50 If, like me, you find your cushion going through the seat no matter what you try, untick 'single sided' in the Softbody segment of the collision section for each of the couch cushions; it then started bouncing off the top of the couch cushion as it should.
holy polygons! it worked!
thanks! It Worked!
Ah the only thing I didnt try!
didn't work :'c
GOOD DAY TO YOU SIR !
I really want to see more lazy blenderguru tutorials like this.
this video probably took the same if not more effort to make.
@@itachi2011100 you dont get the reference do you?
@@itachi2011100 Haha!
It's been a while since I watched one of blender guru's tutorials, I almost forgot how good they are!
He really should have merch saying: "set it to non-colour data"
Daaata
lol xd
daa-tah ;)
I know absolutely nothing about this but it looks so fun, the results are super satisfying.
The overall quality of this video is insane.
2:12 if your PC sucks like mine you can use currective smooth modifier as well !.
first ian hubert, then cgmatter, now blender guru, THE REVOLUTION IS NIGH
*ANDREW DOING CGMATTER/IAN HUBERT STYLE SHORT TUTS INSTEAD OF 1 HOUR VIDEOS*
I LOVE IT
CG Matter isn't half as funny as Hubert. Hubert is the Short-Tut OG. (Though I will say, CG Matter is very informative nontheless. ALL BLENDER TUTORIAL MASTERS ARE GREAT.
@@robrobusa You clearly haven't seen enough CGMatter tutorials
Jai Bellare theres a time and a place for both.
2 hour tutorials are a godsend to people who have never touched the software or even 3D for that matter
Before CGMatter: *Gosh Ian is so Faastt*
After CGMatter: *Speeds Ian's Video to 2x*
You watch CGMatter/Ian Hubert, I'll watch Blender Guru
Since years one of the most valuable YT channels. And the perfect tutorial pace.
You are my real guru

Thanks a lot for your all videos
Thanks again 😊
2:33 and with that, Andrew nullified an entire 30 minute tutorial in 5 seconds.😂
i mean the 30 minute method is still good for close ups. this would probably look weird in a close up shot.
Its just a different seam.
This is when both sides are sewed flat ontop of each other and in the end everything is turned inside out. Now the seams are tucked into the inside and it looks like in this video.
The other video presents a visible seam that appears when the backside of one cloth is sewed flush with the front side of the other half.
Both exist in the real world so both can look perfectly fine up close. Its just not the same thing
cushions often are sewed with the tucked in method while whole couches almost never are so both made sense at their place...
Not really. He already used this method in his Teddy bear tutorial (mentioned in the 30 minute episode) but wanted to show a different one with stitches.
Theres fabric over fabric seams like the other tutorial, where you see stitching and need texture information, and theres fabric to fabric faces and turned inside out seams like this ones which just represent a negative bump.
This method is infinitely faster, and works for a cushion because the stitch is a simple indentation. But there’s no detail and it relies on geometry.
I’d still use the longer method for the rest of the couch :)
I went through this tutorial time and again. What I did this time differently is in >Physical Properties instead of angular mode I enabled linear. This renders creases much closer to the real world. Thanks for the video.
What an amazing tutorial. Not too slow not too fast. Perfection :)
I want to thank you for keeping me inspired and sane throughout this difficult time. I'm currently in studying China where the pandemic hit first and things haven't been easy since then. Watching your videos and others related is what got me through this pandemic. I'm a little greedy when it comes to good content, so created a whole playlist for most, if not all of your videos. *Fun fact, i didn't even have a pc or an ipd throughout this time, but i still watched the videos to the end. Now I'm Happy to say that the PC and Huion Tablet i ordered a few days ago just arrived and i Can't wait to try Blender 2.83. Honestly, I don't mind rewatching the tutorials 😂 ...Since i can't do any traditional art right now, i might as well go digital .Thank you 💚💙❤
Just saw your story on my mail, An incredible journey you have. We are great-full of these tutorials. Thanks a lot man.
"The developer in charge of default settings was risk-averse."
Always learning something with you, inspired me so much to create my yt channel. Thanks!!!!
Just made an awesome gaming chair using the cloth sculpting thing, just need a pillow on it :D Thank you Blender Guru !!
I remember watching his video back in years, and damn how he got 1.3M subs.
I feel old now
Andrew needs to make more this kind of fast tutorials
Good blender guru
Fast and useful video for us
Oh man Andrew - just listening to your voice in this video makes me laugh - I love the humor you show here.
Alternative for preparing the pillow thickness: alt-select the edge loop of the pillow after extruding and press ctrl+i to invert, h to hide. Now you're left with only the edge loop. run a little merge by distance, alt+h to reveal the hidden mesh and tada! I think it's a little neater becaue it's mostly shortcuts or typing, no pressing buttons on screen
One thing is missing to be noted in this tutorial I guess, when I simulated my cushions, they just lied flat like rugs! 😂
As I'm low experienced in sims I thought I try other options and found that "Pressure" is the key to POP my cushions like video.
After that, I watched it again and noticed that in 1:59 , "Pressure" is checked and told.
btw thanks bro for this good tut! 👍👍
He literally said that at 0:43 to enable pressure.
I love this speedrun trend in the blender tutorial community, keep it up!
Perfect! Such a relief after the hard work with a couch! Yah! Thank you! Cool couch with cushions I have!)))
Best cushion tutorial ever
Sir you really like Guru. I like your way of teaching. Love from India. 🙏🙏
Hi. I'm an absolute beginner at blender (started 2 days ago). I have this dream of making a bowl of ramen. Your coffee cup tutorial seems like the perfect vid to get me started, and I think I can figure out the toppings for myself, but I don't know how I'm gonna go about making the noodles. I hope you end up seeing this comment and be able to give me a hand in cooking up some ramen in blender.
the soft body and cloth comes when u select the cushion underneath!

Really calming video, actually like this format, it’s short, but not super fast either!
Always mentioning poligon 👍👍👍
This blender tutorial is so well explained
구루는 천재에요... 오늘도 영상보고 감동하고 갑니다..👍 항상 좋은 튜토리얼 감사해요 !!!
I get much faster and more consistent results if I put the subsurf modifier after the cloth sim, which is what I'd expect. I think that part of this video is based on some outdated tech (I'm running Blender 3.10 beta). If I run the subsurf modifier at the top of the stack, not only does my 3700x choke even harder than Andrew's CPU, but the cloth sim turns into a wet balloon or a bed of spikes depending on what I'm doing.
This is such an effective and smart modeling technique
Love this one mate, probably one of the best I've seen from you. Takes all the guesswork out of getting a decent cloth sim.
thanks a lot for your videos, its absolutely worth learning blender
You can also use cloth simulation to make things like static banners, curtains or canvas roofs etc. like you get with a tent, so many options to consider. As shown in this tutorial just drop a texture on the static mesh you've created and then you're done and it will add some detail to a scene that would otherwise be bland, I successfully imported a little banner into Unity doing this. Just a matter of sensible placement after that.
This is the video go to for me for when i forget how to make cushions.
Wow this one is actually posted at a reasonable time
Hi from Luxembourg! So smart!
I have less than 6 months experience and have only done 4 projects. I have just completed a brew keg and I'm trying to test the physics. Cannister with pressure sent to brew keg, out hose. Yes I can get the same results easier but I have a love for physics. I must know how well blender is when simulating physics. I've already made a tank and was able to blow up another object. Now to see if the pressure can push fluid
You are literally a god 😭❤️ ...... I was frustrated seeing the other videos of how to make the pillows but that was not working .... And I was too much worried .... 😭 But then I saw your video and luckily it is working 😭🥺❤️
Finally to the point tutorial
You are really the best ! Thanks for making such great tutorials
3:42 hold up your telling me that isnt a real piece of furniture?!
Andrew not sure if it is age but your voice got very fun now to listen to. Not hat it was bad before but I think you reached a nice positive sarcastic mix that is quite funny to listen to.
Furniture! I really love!
i dont even have blender but still love to watch the process
Thanks for the great turorial! Hope to be a BlenderBabyGuru someday.
love it Andrew. quick and amazing tutorial.
Thanks for this, still relevant and extremely useful, thanks a lot! Cheers Andrew
brutally effective
meant efficient naturally
Short tutorials? You’ve become the very thing you swore to destroy!
Andrew Price explains every single step he takes logically, unlike most of the other short tutorial producers.
You are a great source of inspiration for me.Love you bro
My PC couldn't even render this video
Oof. How is old is ur GPU if it can't even support basic video decoding? Btw yes ik I'm gonna get r/wooshed... 😢

This is great thank you for the very detailed explanation
0:56 my cushion just floats above my seat how do you fix this?
edit: i am just stupid its in the video
how did you fix it ı couldnt do it it just floats there without even turning into a cushion
ffs it happened when I went to object mode lmao
me from 20 years ago would have been totally amazed by this.
Me from now is more like.
Ah. That's nice.
... It's still impressive though. xD
me from 20 years ago would just grow impatient and head out to play
I would LOVE a blanket tutorial (specifically the folds)
I couldn't wait so I did the cushions by myself and as you can imagine they aren't nearly as good lol
After adding subserf modifier my cushion is looking like a ramble piece of paper... even after setting wight to 0.001... Then I switch of gravity, but still ramble piece of paper. (It looked fine without subserf.)
Just apply clothe modifier then after move it.😊
Great tutorials..
I am doing the chair tutorial and I was like “I know what this chair needs”
so creepy...so real...and u make it look so easy....well done

10/10 tutorial
This is so awesome. Super fast and effects are great. I 3D printed one right away :)

60 percent of the time, it works, every time!
Hey Guru, can you make a video discussing about like all the constraints? Btw AWESOME tutorial!
We are here, Master
Incredible video, Andrew.
You've embraced the short tutorials 😁
Hello, could you help me? I did everything as in your tutorial, but the collision does not work. The pillow gets created but it does not interact with the sofa, it stays in the air. And if I put the pillow lower (closer to the sofa), then when I start the simulation it jumps out of sofa and flies up...
untick single sided under collision of the cushion below
Superb!
I wish to make like you
You are master of this
Love ur tutorials so much....☺️
Thank you Andrew- beautiful piece! Many useful tips.
Please create a tutorial series exclusively on materials and texturig.
Great, I'll try it with pillows now :D
Thanks! You are a reference for us!
Thank you alot!!!
i love you, andrew
so good so far
Me after seeing the quick demo in the intro: Wow, looks so easy!
Me after watching the entire video: What just happened?
Wow, I used it for some bags of chips, looks really nice. Only they bounce like some fluid bags, adjusting physics properties helps a bit. Anyway much nicer than those box, chip bags tutorials, and much faster.
Hi Guru, i love your tutorials but i dont know how you get these nice wrinkles everytime you add the cloth pressure. I do the exact same thing but mine becomes like a ballon, it has no wrinkles. Could you or somebody help me?
my cushion doesnt bounce it collapses completely, what must i do ?
edit : never mind it was the pressure that i needed to adjust
pressure did not stop my cushion from collapsing completely.. :( there is no bounce
Under presure: play with the "Presure scale" property. I set it between 30 and 50 and the cushion bounces fine.
AMAZING BROW
Working with my ultrabook truly teach me the virtue of patience
Okay so I don’t watch this channel and I thought he was actually going to make a cushion in an actual blender. I was very confused when I read the title 🙃
Now add some pillow stuffing and set the blender to full power for 3 minutes...
