Bro u can make compositor tutorials. I have searched hours on RUclips but didn't get complete tutorial in which every single node is explained in detail.
Yes, we beginners and intermediate hobbyists really need to get a deeper understanding of node setups

thank you so much!
Thanks so much
Thank u so much, was trying that for like an hour and couldn't figure it out!!
getting ready for some "blender and chill"
I've been here for like 2 hours, trying to find why the blanket keeps going under the arm of the chair. I had to uncheck the "single sided" option under "softbody and cloth" in the collision settings and it worked for me, finally.
Thank you! I've been searching so long for this comment!
Thank you for solving that frustrating issue!!
Him: Blender's new update made it a lot faster
Me: Your 2 Titan RTX's made it a lot faster
Eh... you could have 10 of them and it wouldn't make a difference since cloth sims don't run on the gpu
Actually, there is a big difference between 2.82 and 2.83 in terms of the cloth simulator's self collisions feature. Some cases can be as much as 5x faster or more.
@@sharath2273 yes, I think I've noticed it too recently
@@abdullaishfaq3166 They actually mentioned that in the "blender 2.83 new features in less than 5 minutes" video.
@@gravy59 nope he got Titan RTXs later on
Finally! I've been slamming refresh on your video listing for 10 days now. It's not like I'm allowed to think for myself and just create a blanket out of a plane.
When I only started to do all this 3d stuff I was like: oh no, what's wrong with this and that, I need to watch a whole tutorial again. But now I try to figure it out by myself. And I'm not watching your video while I'm doing all my stuff. Thank you so much for giving me enough information to start doing something myself. I know that I'm only a begginer but I won't stop.
And yeah, when my mom asked me what I was doing (I was making a chair) I told her about you doing all these tutorials without any ad (of course, except Poliigon and other RUclips ads, but they can be skipped). And btw I am from Russia learning English, so you are my "listening tutor" ahhhaaaah.
Well, you seem to be doing good with your english
Wil Wolf thanks, I really appreciate it
If the simulation is too slow on your potato computer as it was for me, I used a "simulate on low-poly models" workaround. Here's how it was done:
- Remove collision from all objects
- Duplicate the objects (Shift+d) you will want to have collision with the blanket
- Move (M) the duplicated objects into a new Collection (I called mine LowPoly for obvious reasons). Move also the blanket there. You may hide the original collection for the time being
- In the newly created LowPoly collection, the idea is to replace all high poly objects with low poly equivalents to make the simulation bearable. Do the following for each of the high poly objects (normally the cushions):
* Apply all existing modifiers
* Add a decimate modifier. Use something really low as the ratio (e.g. 0.01): you should see the object get more blocky while still having the same shape. Adjust so that you get a shape that is very similar with the original one, but with a much lower vertex count
* Once you're happy, apply the decimate modifier. Now the object should have a much lower vertex count, but still have a shape that will make the simulation relevant
- Now you can follow the tutorial as usual (add collision to the low-poly objects, adjust quality, etc)
- Once you're happy with the result, move the simulated blanket back to the original collection, or play with the hide/show attributes of the objects and collections, to see how the blanket fares with the actual, original objects. There might be some additional tuning needed, I was lucky, but my expectation was that in the worst case I would get some slight clipping easy to fix with a higher distance or thickness outer.
Hope this helps.
Was holding my breath for this last step in tutorial and it was so worth the wait as it's solved all of my frustrations. Great final part to a fantastic tutorial series. Thanks so much Andrew!

"a vertice"? Please make it your goal for 2020 to learn to say "a vertex".

Loving this tutorial series! Guss bedtime can wait a few minutes...
Was searching for a tutorial on this yesterday, hadn't even realised the Guru himself had a series on it
This was such an amazing tutorial, thanks a lot
Magnificent !!

Greetings from France
It was a nice tutorial series. I loved it.
Thank you Andrew
I have watch all your course and tutorial but your smile inspire me to never give up be happy
I love your tutorials they are always quick and easy and I was inspired to make a RUclips channel and follow your footsteps and I need some support thanks. Your Awesome
Was having trouble with the blanket clipping through the base of the couch. I solved it by selecting the object it was clipping through and in the collision settings under Softbody And Cloth, I unchecked the box marked Single Sided. Dont know if there is a better way but normals were facing the correct direction and increasing the quaility steps was not helping any.
Thank you! I was having this problem. I checked my normals and they were facing the wrong direction.
Thanks man.
fuckin finally. thanks!
dude I love your tutorials so much that I think I have watched almost every one!!!! Thanx for these great tutorials
Yay! I finished and it looks good!

Thank you so much. That was so useful tutorial. You are top
First! I thought this tutorial series was finished, looking forward to watching it though:)
You were second but okay.
I found that if the plane is still intersecting with an object even after the collision on, it would work to switch off the "single sided" option on the collision settings for the object (that was intersecting)! It worked like a charm for me
Great video as always Andrew!
I've learned loads here. Very good tutorial
i love your videos, thanks for creating this awesome content
Very watchable, enjoyable and such an informative tutorial series. How could anyone in their right mind give a thumbs down to these wonderful videos?
you're the man, what a tutorial series, thanks a lot :-)
Damn It has been so long since I watched any of your videos ,Last time I did the whole Donut and coffee tutorial and designed them ,I almost forgot how much I love your videos and your work ! ,glad RUclips recommended this video ! :)
Howdy, thx for this. Even I a, not much of a blender user, rather C4D... having made towels and drapes many times, it is super helpful to see the thoughts of another person.
I would haven not thought of the angling of the plane to get better wrinkles !
Thx :)
The cloth sim settings tips here are very helpful. The default values are really frustrating to work with. I'm definitely bookmarking this one and reviewing it next time I use cloth sim!
Just finished the sofa tutorial and loved it, thank you Andrew! Now trying to resist the urge to stack a big plate of donuts on it and hoist a neon sign over it ;)
Appreciate the tutorials,
Awesome tutorials as always...you explain what settings actually mean rather than just hitting the button and changing a setting...which is rare and valuable...well over 24 hours trying to figure out why my cloth looked like it was in a washing machine during simple simulation...damn you default self collision distance? Thank you
Can you make a tutorial how you update blender? Because I don't really know how to do it
Sorry but I don't know what steam is😅 Can you please explain. Sorry about this...
Thanks,I love this
Thank You
Thank you! :)
If your cloth acts buggy and clips through/ignores a collider, check the "Face Orientation" box under the overlays dropdown. Then choose the objects that have red colors on them (blue is the outside, red is the inside of a face) and go into object mode. Choose all the vertecies by pressing A and then press Ctrl + Shift + N. This will recalculate the normals. If they are still red, you might want to check the "Inside" box under the settings menu that appears at the bottom left.
I don't see face orientation anywhere
It's worked!!! thank you!!!
thank u soo much!

Very nice
Would you recommend baking all the textures for the final result? If so, how many materials would you make in total?
I'm asking since you gain optimization and transferability to other 3D software but loose resolution/detail unless you bake insanely high-resolution images.
The beard suits you :) Thank you for the tutorials! i have just recently started on the first Donut lessons
Saw You on Alex Vlog During RUclips Summit in Japan. Now i'm a subscriber ❤
Great tutorial as always!! Keep going:)
If you're watching this in 2022 subdivisions in render do matter. I keep the same amount of subdivisions in the first layer for render and viewport. Otherwise your render gets weird clipping because there isn't enough geometry in the object.
wait! there's something missing: Where is the material for the legs of the couch?!?
great series!
why did u add Lol at the end
@@irwinrudolf idk, I was being ironic
the default material isn't good enough for you?
The subsurface modifier is gold
Hi, whatever setting I use for friction, my "blanket" keeps slipping from the cube sed as a collider. Any idea why (I use v2.92) ?
i came here looking for a way to work with cloths and physics.
i need to do a goal simulation with a football and a net. been struggling.
came here cuz i need you're the best in explaining things, buddy.
im still working on mine, but if you are interested, make a video of shoot and a collision of a football into a net.
cheers mate!
In 3dsmax' workflow you were supposed to create a Voronoi-mesh for cloth simulations so that the piece would not fall weird and reveal its quadmesh structure under certain conditions. For this there was a handy converter. Does anybody know of a similar thing for _Blender?_
I like your videos so much.))
I was waiting for the poliigon model library when he started talking about professionals and what not. but it did not come.
Bruh I didn’t even get to part 3 of the donut yet and I’m watching this
Hurry up and bring your next series of tutorials
The collision quality works by enameling ray casting formed by the faces of the mesh that go from point A to point B
If the ray that is casted clips through an object when the frames did not register, it will be registered.
This makes collisions more persist or just better in general
G.O.A.T 🔥🔥❤️
im getting a really weird result with my blanket. In Evee everything seems normal but when i render the image there are those fragments, like glitching happening in the mesh. I have no idea why this is happening. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
Thank you so much! This was very helpful. I am trying to make a cloth with more thickness to it (solidify) but I don´t know how to UV unwrap it. If I add solidify too early the simulation is messed up and if I add at the very end (which does work) I get stretched texture on the sides. Could you show how it is done? :)
How can i turn my cloths into a regular polygonal mesh (after simulation)?
Amazing series and i followed along until found Guru using premium materials.
plz add next series as fast as possible
Somehow made it to the end. It's not perfect but learned a lot. Thanks
Hey so I have a question, I've finished a detailed sculpture in Blender and I 'Texture Painted' it, this process took me a LONG time, I went into 'Modeling' to create a finished image of it, rendering etc but the colour isn't showing up on it. I believe this might be because I did all of the detail by hand in 'Texture Painting', instead of making a new material and using shaders, but I'm not really sure. I'd hate to have to start over with the colouring as It's taken me hours to complete. Any advice on what to do? (Sorry It's not relevant to the video btw, I didn't know where else to ask)
Hi, it is possible to make the blanket thicker for be able to print it in resin ? do you have video similar on it ?
You are the best blender tutorial maker but may if you can can you make a full character creation?
If you have problems with the blanket seeming to clip, and then getting stuck in objects, check your normals. I'm not sure how they flipped around on me, but everything looked ok, until it wasn't.
Why not add a bit of thickness to the blanket?
It would take more than twice as long to simulate If you make it thick in the beginning, and if you use a solidify modifier after you will get some weird stuff going on in the wrinkles
I actually just ran into a problem that I managed to troubleshoot by myself! My couch collisions weren't working as expected. When my blanket was simulating around my pillows and cushions, it was wrapping around them just fine until it passed through the arm of my couch. The blanket was not only passing through the arm, it seemed to be accelerating as it went through the arm.
I found out my problem was the face normals on my couch were facing the wrong way. I selected the couch arm faces, CTRL + N, Recalculate Outside, restarted the sim, hit play and it worked like a charm!
I thought I'd post my findings here after following this lesson in case someone runs into the same problem: Wrong-facing surface normals WILL affect your collisions!
You could also make some deformations or elevations in some vertices on the plane to make wrinkles
Amazing loved your tutorials they are so biginner friendly and super amazing but plz make a series on how to make vfx video in blender .😇😇😇😇😇😇
If ur cloth is going through an object no matter what , make sure u uncheck the single sided box on softbody and cloth in the collision proprety of the coussin
Does anymore know how to set a plane object viewable on screen while using one-axis viewpoint? Just like how Guru did at 5:08, I would like to see a highlight of my plane while I'm selecting it, but I don't understand why my blender didnt highlight any plane object, and I didnt even see a thing while switch to one-axis viewpoint.
@blenderguru please make a video on nature🌿🍃
If your plane is colliding with objects but still intersecing them weirdly, you can enable back face collision(or something like that name) in collision settings
You should do something on fur like on the colossi In the game shadow of the colossus remake for the PS4 or something
