Did this one almost a month ago and they finally unblocked it so enjoy!!
A couple other ones that might throw you for a loop:
Bubba Sparxxx - "Country Folks","Ugly","Deliverance"
The Lacs (ft. Sparxxx) - "Wylin"
You need to check out “thunderstruck “ by Steve N Seagulls
In the 90's, this song, was usually the closing song at the disco in my country. It just makes you dance and sing
Love to dance to this!! Love you! 😍
Not country but fun. Grows on ya!
This is NOT County. This is Euro-pop. The group is from Sweden. They're parodying American country groups, right down to their name, Rednex.
Is that where Cotton Eye Joe came from?
@@dialecticalmonist3405 yeah pretty much.
Cotton Eye Joe is a traditional country song from the US that pre-dates the US Civil War (mid 1800s) and has been recorded by various artists since the 1920s. The song is country, so this is more of a cross-over with euro-pop.
Eurodance.
Well, the song is an traditional song from before the 19th century. The band just covered it in euro-beat style
Your expression when it first started was priceless 😂
I completely agree! His reactions are so genuine and entertaining.
Agree 😂😂😂😂
👍🤣
Hahaha we predicted Jay would react in a nutty way last week when we recommended he play this and react to it! Fair play to him lol😂😂😍😍
God danggggggg
Dude, this is what happens when you mix meth and moonshine.
Perfect!
LMAO!!!
😝😂
Best comment on internet today! Lol
Funny af!
Cotton-Eyed Joe was originally an old American folk song since time before civil war.
Rednex, who are from Sweden just like me, recorded this Eurodance version in 1994.
It was hugely popular here back then.
Lol, I thought this song was about an STI, Cotton Eyed Joe bring Chlamydia. It fits the lyrics.
Clubbing time!!!
In the Netherlands as well lol!
I learned about the video watching Beavis and Butthead.
When this came out, my daughter was barely a year old.
Every time she heard it, on MTV, she crawled as fast as she could, got up, and with a firm grip on the TV counter, she was jumping to the beat, with a happy smile on her face.
She really loved this song.
That adorable! So sweet 💓
Got to try this on mine.. she is 8 mont
loved it as a toddler too
That is so sweet. Children are wonderful.
This was our school disco song in the 90’s in the uk.
We’d all start linking arms and swinging about like idiots 😂
Thank you for sharing that memory!
So I see our square dance from Oklahoma traversed the world! Yesss!!!
I remember the forced learning "country dance" at school and they put this one haha. This was a school disco song for sure.
We did this in Australia too! LOL. We actually did it for dance class at school, which generally sucked, but this song made things fun for a change.
It happened at every party. Just imagine being in a huge room with at least 100 people all doing a full on organized square dance and yelling BULLSHIT at the same times several times throughout the song. It was weird. Everyone knew exactly how to do the whole line dance, and yet no one ever remembered learning it, certainly not at school. It was like it was in our DNA. It was magical! Bwahahaaaa!!!
Saw Cotton Eye Joe and clicked straight away... can only imagine what you make of this. I remember dancing with my dad to this.🤣🤣
😆😆😆
I got my mother square dancing to this, she also loved it
😂
The drummer in Rednex was my music teacher in elementary school like 25 years ago :)
😳😂👍👍👍👍👍
Oh, what fun!
Nice
Way cool!!
I was a teen/young adult in the 90's and I have to say that the music from that era makes me so happy. Every time when Cotton Eye Joe started playing we ran onto the dance floor. Many other songs too. Paradisio - Bailando, Los del Rio - Macarena, Darude - Sandstorm and Bomfunk MC's - Freestyler to name a few. Oh those good old days
ahhh Freestyler.. love it!
Loved Paradisio!
I just loved the eurodance time.
Oh yes, the dancefloor was full with people jumping around and having fun when the dj played Rednex 🤣👍🏻
Don’t even try to deny it! You loved every single second!!! And just imagine being in a huge room with at least 100 people all doing a full on organized square dance and yelling BULLSHIT at the same times several times throughout the song. It was weird. Everyone knew exactly how to do the whole line dance, and yet no one ever remembered learning it. It was like it was in our DNA. It was magical! Bwahahaaaa!!!
100% truth
Yup, and I never deny it. I still am friends with one of my friends who I would dance it with back then, and so she just enables me. LOL.
Friends like that are legendary!
I HAD to click on this right away! Your reaction did not disappoint, Jay!! 😂😂
This was SO MUCH FUN to dance to! We learned the dance in physical education class in junior high and at church dances in the 80’s, so when this song came out we were ready!! 🤩
I never saw the video though-pretty crazy! 😂
When this man said its country
**Me** So do I tell him??
I remember doing the dance at every school dance in the 90's-'00's with all of my friends!!
A lot of Swedish groups lately. 🤣 They were a fun act. Their ballade ”Wish you were here” was something completely different.
I actually love "wish you were here".
I heard it just as I was learning English and it's one of the first ballads that I understood 😊
@@everlies505 I love them... I met them. They created & performed for us... Wish you were here... in memory of a loved one💝
Now I have listen to that one...
This song is always a guaranteed floor filler at any disco, seriously any disco your at, request this and watch the dance floor fill :)
😂
Not any club I’ve ever been to! 😂
YES!!!
lol the clubs I went to this would have been used to get everyone off the floor and out of the club!
When the band yells "What do you say?" and the whole bar hollers, BULL 💩!!! the dance floor fills up. This is the only video I can find with the BS part.... ruclips.net/video/GkMRW4LL-oY/видео.html
It's not a party until this song comes on. It was on every disco in the 90's early 00's. It always makes me smile and brings back memories. :) Greetings from Sweden.
This has a genre all of its own!
Nah, pretty typical eurodance. Crossing any type of song with dance beat is standard. The results can be unusual but the process is standard eurodance. Joikhu, yodeling, gregorian chanting every type of folk singing or instrument to a beat is big part of what makes eurovision what it is.
This song gets people up and moving. Still see it played at weddings where they have a broad range of music played
It's part of Brian and Katie's Evolution of Wedding Dance. Never met them personally but they look like a fun couple. Hope they're still together
Lmao, they are Swedish, we spat out bands in the 90s, this was a nice one hit wonder that exploded nicely. Hugs from Sweden.
I loved Swedish Europop at that time. I still have Alcazar on one of my playlists!
I wouldn't call them a one hit wonder - you couldn't turn on MTV without hearing "Wish you were here" for the better part of a year.
Funny you can’t tell the Anglo from the Swedes in most things
Rednex wasn't a one hit wonder in Europe at all, Spirit of the Hawk was the intro to a popular gaming show here in Germany😂😂
Ace of base
This song was massive in the UK round about 1995. They did a similar sounding follow up song called Pop In An Oak.
Great song when you’re pissed at a party, everyone gets up and dances till they fall over. Great reaction too Jay.
There’s just something about 1000+ people stomping the dance floor at the same time that is just unbeatable! And EVERYONE can do it!😁
We went crazy to this in the 90s 🤪😂🤣
Yes. Back than I made with my younger sister and a friend a funny dance video to this song.😄
Fun fact:
In 2019, 24 years after the release, the guy who mixed the song could still live off the royalties from this song.
How do you know?
@@leob4403
There have been articles about him.
This was played at every party when I was a 00s kid in the uk
That used to be played in Germany in the 90s. Always a lot of fun on the dancefloor :-)
As a Swede I'd say it's not the high point of the Swedish music library, but I do remember having a good time dancing to this when it came out.
@Krister L In pop music I prefer someone like Robyn: ruclips.net/video/J294A-R1Cjk/видео.html
My son's college would play this at football games and the kids would dance to it every time. We love it.
Such a fun reaction. I love that you got up for a dance! This used to kick hard on the dancefloor late 90s 😁.
Play this on a 90s party in Europe and you got the whole club dancing :D
Great now this song is going to be stuck in my head all week 🤣
Earworms.
Oh sweet Jesus! You just put me in a time machine and brought me back to high school and college in Oklahoma where we’re all doing this big wagon wheel dance (with people as spokes) yelling bullshit at strategic places in the music!
Wow didn't know that this one made it to America as well! As a Swede i do remember it!
@Daniel Olsen oh my god yes! I live in Nashville now, but in high school I was in a small town in Oklahoma. EVERYONE knew the entire line dance. It was a huge wagon wheel of people, with people lined up as spokes. It had rather elaborate steps, and specific places where everyone yelled, “Bullshit!” Every single person knew it, every single step, and yet not one person could tell you when or where or how they learned it. It was like it was in our DNA.
This was a huge hit in Australia when I traveled there in 1996. No one believed me when I told them Rednex was a Swedish band...
Hey Jayvee, would you please consider taking a look at bomfunk mc's - freestyler? It was a big hit back in Europe back in the days
Rock the microphone!
The anniversary video is especially entertaining.
I second that! Just the name brings back fond memories❤️
That's a solid idea, I support this!
Great choice!
This is what the rest of the world thinks America is like lol
Thanks for the laugh 😆
Just Trump voters
Na, pretty much the whole country now. 😂
@@stuarthancock571 No, everyone.
@@stuarthancock571 Look up Thomas Sowell, please.
I love watching this man. His reactions and enthusiasm. Delightful. Great stuff. Well done.
Everyone dances to this you can't help it. Your reaction is priceless!! 😂😂
Rednex is a Swedish group, some kind of weird europop/dance/western fusion! I met the woman singing (the one with the rat in her hair early on) at a Christmas dinner with my company's Swedish office in Stockholm - she was the hostess for the julbord, and convinced me to try the Christmas aquavit - something I instantly regretted! Sorry Sweden!
Never get bored of seeing your reactions 😂😂😂 pls never stop
Being from Texas, I clicked as soon as I saw the title. I HAD to see your reaction! Because of this video, I am now a subscriber. Thank you. You're reaction was EXACTLY what I expected and pure entertainment. I couldn't stop laughing. I look forward to watching more of your video reactions and following your musical journey.
picture the scene.... your in the UK, at a boring party, your slagging off people sat on other tables, you grimace to people at the bar when ordering drinks, no talking while pissing your money up the wall in the gents...... then.... you hear the fiddle n those words..... "if it hadnt have been for cotton eye joe" like a whippet your on that dance floor flailing arms n linking with anyone you can find spinning round in circles like your life depends on it!! thats the power of this song
I’ve never seen the music video for this song but I used to dance to it when I was a kid at a lot of my school dances
There is an HD version as well from 2004 I think.
Love your expression when it started!! 💝💝💝💝😉
Alotnof the dance to this was literally just linking arms and dancing round in a circle before switching arms and going the other way
It's unnerving how much this thing ends up growing on u & into ur head & u find yourself jamming to it. The beat bumps. Crazy as hell.
If I had to put it in a category or genre, it would be classified as “shit-kickin” music.
Awesome reaction video 🎶💖 This song was a big hit here in Sweden and a geat song to dance to in the night clubs during the 90s. I love their song Wish you were here 💞
This is a swedish eurobeat/dance band. I heard this alot when i was out on Town dancing in the 90s😂.
This song along with Scatman were like "raise the dead formula"for every DJ in my country. It didn't matter if you were dead tired or drunk. If you put Scatman followed by Cotton Eye Joe EVERYBODY would be on the floor dancing like crazy. :D
Haha same in germany 😂👌
I always thought of this as kind of a joke song that was really catchy and caught fire in America. Kind of like macarena.
School dances this was very popular there for a while. It’s a totally different world 20plus years ago n we would kill this at dances!!! I love your reactions your face is priceless!!
Interesting fact for you Jayvee
These guys are actually Swedish
My husband just walked in to me laughing out loud at my phone while Cotton Eyed Joe plays and the look he gave me was pretty much the exact same one of utter confusion you had at the beginning 🤣😂
Please make reaction to Diana Ankudinova - the most unique young talented singer.
One of my favourite things to find and enjoy is music that gives me chills and goosebumps. I was cruising RUclips recently and discovered a Russian talent show contestant that did just that, with one of the best, most unique voices I've heard in many years. Her delivery was nothing short of magical and I searched out more and more and more, and...more chills.
I was stunned to find that the first performance I heard was when she was 14!!!! She's now 17 and still developing. She sings in Russian, French, English and Arabic.
The covers she performed on that show are very popular on RUclips. Many RUclipsrs publish reactions on these performances, which include the ethnic song "River" (in a new musical arrangement), "Blizzard", "Wicked Game", "Human", "Derniere Danse", "Helwa Ya Baladi" and others.
Please react to one of Diana's songs and I promise she will surprise you.

Great reaction! 🙏🙏🙏
This song was huge when it came out. I still listen to it often.
Absolutely loved your reaction! ❤️🙏😇
Flashbacks to school discos in the 90’s. Amazing.
Your reaction: priceless!!
There's several different line dances to this song. By the time I'd get done doing any of them I'd be exhausted!!! But great cardio song!
The Hollies air that I breathe is a great song if you haven't listened to it yet. You will not be disappointed.
Found you last night. Can’t stop watching. You’re great. This reaction was perfection.
Hasta la música antigua para bailar y más simple,es mucho mejor que la basura de hoy...gracias por los clásicos..SALUDOS desde Sudamérica-CHILE!!!!!!!!!😯😯😁😁
They play this at country bars, dance clubs, raves, 80s bars, & dive bars. No matter the crowd this song gets people up & moving. Guaranteed.
A guilty pleasure song lol not many at the time admitted to loving this but secretly loved it and danced in the kitchen!
LOOOL I grew up with this!! The band is from Sweden, and was a huuuge hit in Scandinavia when I was young, like back in 1994 :) oh shit the memories :P
And remember. back in 1994, we didn't have youtube. So we only heard the song, and didn't watch the music video. MTV didn't play Scandinavian music
If this fried your mind you need to listen to "Star Trekkin'" by The Firm.
I concur lol, I'd love to see the look on his face 🤣!
YES!!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
...or Mr. Blobby....
@@cristianamargos690 I don't think he is ready for that just yet . . .
Heck Yeah.
Aahh this song takes me back...❤ I'm Swedish, living in London in mid 90's, partying with aussie and kiwi friends all night at a club on charing cross road and then sleeping on the platform, waiting for the first tube home on sunday morning... those were the Days ❤❤❤
The look on your face😂😂😂😂
I remember when I first heard this song in like 8th grade and reacting pretty much exactly as you just did lol. Like “Wait, what? What’s happening?!” And then inevitably accepting it because you just HAVE to MOVE when you hear this. EVERYBODY got out on the dance floor when it played and every DJ played it! Definitely was never considered Country tho lol. Thanks for doing this one!
If there's one thing you can say for this song, it's that it's nearly impossible to sit still while listening to it....
They play this every Friday night at our high school football games as a fire up and the kids go nuts!
Chilldhood memories
Sweden's finest
This was my high school's song and we all knew the line dance for it. Its ridiculous and always makes me smile.
If it's european and weird with a beat it's eurodance.
In the 90s there was a line dancing faze/craze. This song was a hit because you could do line dancing to it even though it’s technically pop not country per se. Good times 🤔😁
...when speaking about music from Sweden and the 90s, do not forget to check Army of Lovers - Obsession or Crucified...
Your reaction videos are the best. You listen to such a broad range of music and your choices are really interesting. I think everyone reactions with 'WHAT? ' when we heard Cotton Eye Joe first. It does have a great beat though.
Cotton Eyed in WVa means drunk on Moonshine, lol
Rednex is a Swedish musical group from the 90s. The 90s where the best!
Love to see your reaction to "technohead I wanna be a hippy". 😂
Me too..😁
Why? It's terrible
@@nicksneddon2396 yes 100% it is....wanna see the confused puzzled look on his face, it will be priceless 😂
This song was popular, but I always put it in the category of the likes of Aqua - Barbie Girl and Rebecca Black - Friday.
When i was young,i hated this song...now im older,i still hate it🤣
I can relate to that 😅
The horror!
THE HORROR!
O.O
I hated it too. Now I luv it! 🤪
Greetings from Swedish boomer!
Same
Sweden has lots of good music. This isn't one of the Good songs!!!
This brings memories of a crazy office party, where I first heard it and when I say crazy I mean crazy!!!! It was a great night. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Several suggestions : Prodigy : 1. Breathe 2. Firestarter 3. Smack my bitch up (explicit version) next lets see you react to 2 Unlimted : 1. Tribal dance 2. No Limit and of course Rammstein : 1. Du hast 2. Sonne 3. Ich Will
I dont think he's ready for that Smack My Bitch Up video
This was one of those songs that was just so 90s. It was also one of the songs that *everyone* got up to dance for at school discos (or now weddings) - the others being 5678 (by Steps - another country/pop style song), YMCA (Village People - you've listened to it), The Macarana (Los Del Rio, and Saturday Night (Whigfield). There were others too but mass join in with a certain dance/action songs were a big thing in the 90s and so much fun.
I quickly clicked on it i wanted to see your face lol
Same lol
You were perplexed to start with but you got right into it. A little to much maybe.👍😁
I've danced to this in the past too. Great party tune.
Grew up dancing to the original. This is... different. It's also missing the part where we all yell, "Bullshit!"
Gotta say I much prefer the original!
That was the best part 😂
@@cajunmama98 It was the only time I cussed growing up, and only because my parents weren't there. Simpler times. "Stepped in what?"
@@jeffreym68 Yes indeed. I remember being at the middle school dances with this song playing and just 100 13 year olds thinking we were big yelling "bullshit!" lol. Good times.
Omg. I can't believe this! Hilarious! It's a Swedish group. It was supposed to be a mix of American country music with dance and pop. I remember they made us square dance to this song at school. We had school dance lessons. 😆 🤣 😂
Swedish country rave 😂😂
Danced to this a lot in the clubs back in the 1990s.
You should react to "Spirit of the hawk" by Rednex. SO different from this one! Was also a hit.
I seriously thought this was a joke when I saw the title! We need to get a better screening process for you! 😂😂🤣🤣
Who remembers the dance?
Yeeeeah, your expression at the beginning is about right for this song. At the time, this song was all over the place in the UK for some reason. I'm very nostalgic for it.
I think the only place I've heard this song is at weddings.
LOL - love you joining in with that little dance! I had a love/hate relationship with this song when it came out. Didn't quite know what to make of it. But, it was all over radio at the time, so it definitely was popular.
Funniest thing is they are from Sweden lol
You know what I love of your reactions? The surprise on your face with the weird videos 😂😂😂
They're Swedish or Finnish if I remember correctly.
Yep, Swedish
That actually makes this make a lot more sense.
@@Supersquishyawesomeness 🤣👍
Yeah from my home country Sweden 👍
They are a franchise. Different members in different regions performing under the name Red Nex. Todd in the Shadows covered the group in one of his videos. You can get some history. No not country but funny. Now He needs to try Big and Rich, Save a horse, ride a cowboy.
🤑🤪😂I have the greatest memory of this song playing it every day at the outside open bar on the slopes of one of the largest hotels in the Austrian Alps in the 90s.....we were dancing in our skiing gears drinking melon-vodka or rum-punch acting out like crazies having so much fun. Thank you for reacting to it, so many wonderful memories of this song!💗💯
