Thanks for the little chat. I thought I was suffering here in Newark, NJ at 18 degrees a few days ago! I don't think you would let your animals freeze. I have a lot of difficulty going up and down my 3 flight of steps daily to open and close the chicken coop. But I do it because I care about my animals. You will too when you get them. But, for now, I'm sure you're glad you don't have animals as a reason to tough the weather . lol Even if you order worms and they are foolish enough to send them out now, those mail trucks are not heated in the back with the packages and they would freeze even if the post master holds the package for you. I tend to order a seeds few from a lot of different sources, and I'm always cross-referencing being mindful of the shipping fees. Sometimes at the end of the season, up until right around the holidays a lot of the seed houses will have a clearance sale to get rid of the current year's seed and make room for the next (I got a few good seeds for less than a dollar at Johnny's Seeds last year). You have to have a keen eye for that because sometimes those sales are for just one day or they just simply sell out so fast. I like to buy my herb seeds from a company in Vermont called Le Jardin du Gourmet (artisticgardens.com); they sell small sampler seed packets for 40 cents (very few but often enough for what most of us want to plant in one year) or you can get a larger one for $1.00 (and those tend to be plenty). But in the end, I get most of my best deals from Ebay. I don't do much with Amazon, but I bet there are a lot of good sellers there too with good deals.
Thank you for the vote of confidence!! I just feel helpless and exposed whenever I go out there and I was extremely grateful that I did not have any animals to care for or worry about. I didn't think about the mail trucks not being heated, thanks for that one and the Le Jardin du Gourmet recommendation. Blessings friend.
when I bought my worms three years ago I had the same problem. I ended up waiting until it was warmer to actually get the worms but hopefully you find a solution
You are funny! I seriously doubt you would let them freeze. You would be in the house just gearing yourself up to going out there, knowing that they were out there and needed you. Good luck on your worm search!
You are so sweet! It was a shock to the senses when the wind hit me and was extremely grateful I didn't have any animals to worry about. (btw I loved the structure you built!)
Good grief!! I though I had it bad because it got down to 12 degrees last night. I know what you are talking about with the seed prices. Everything is ridiculously expensive. We are trying to get into saving our own seeds a lot more. We got our red wigglers from Uncle Jim's Worm Farm. But we had them mailed to us. I understand why that would be a problem for you. You would not have let your chickens become chicken sicles!!! Lol! Enjoyed the Chai Chat!! Thanks!!
Thank for watching! I was soo frustrated before I made the video, I was out spreading salt on the ice and almost froze my lips together because I liked them!! It warmed up a little this weekend but it's expected to drop again (I hope I'm prepared!). Deborah Christmas recommended a wonderful website artisticgardens.com and it saved my budget big time!! I'll keep you posted on the worm search.. Good luck with the transplants!
We would heat our barn when it got below freezing....I can't imagine that kind of cold!
I couldn't imagine it either, until I was the middle of it wondering where I went wrong in life!! LOL!!

It looks like that's what I will be forced to do because the winter up here isn't going anywhere soon. However, I'm not giving up!!

I have heard you might be able to get worms at the pet shops. I have not checked here but it is worth a try. Have a great day. Best wishes Bob.

You have a reason to be a wimp, you guys are below zero. I live in California, and I start freezing at 45 F ...lol 😂😂😂
Thanks for understanding, but I felt like such a wimp. I actually spent the entire week indoors and didn't go outside ONCE!! I'll take your 45F. LOL!!
