I like this storage solution. Have you considered adding a lightweight thin sheet of steel over your plywood and installing magnets to the bases of all the ships? With the right magnets the ships wouldn't be able to move at all and should be pretty cheap overall.
Great video, always fun to see how people store stuff for these games. Do you have the brand and model number of the grey case you put all your Armada "stuff you always use"? I might use that for my X-Wing "stuff I always use" and free up some needed space in my main X-Wing storage solution.
DragonWhimsy Unfortunately I don't, as it was a free case that came with a larger carrying case for tools, from Lowes. Still, any standard plano small case will work. Just go look at tackle boxes and youll see dozens of very similar cases.
My wife was a pokemon junkie before I met her. While she has since stepped away from the card collecting, it has since manifested in our two star wars hobbies. That and she goes nuts on sales. Miniatures market is having a big one atm (55 bucks for the armada core, 27 for the ISD) and so we bought in, probably more so than we should have. In any case, we now need to store these silly things. We are desperate =P
Its a good idea.. But the down side for me is the price. fishing case like this (plano a think it is?) ist like around 50$ cdn. Also the fact that i'm restrain in space. So for my game (x-wing, zombicide) I build my own box out of foamcore and Corrugated cardboard boxes, Word well! but of couse it take time to build but.. Its custom and its answer my need! Now I intend to do it for my Imperial assault game! One thing for sure I'm really not interested about the precut foam tray!
Monte Cristo The downside is the price? My solution cost like $12. It's cheaper than building a custom box out of foamcore, because you'd likely need 4-5 sheets to accommodate this much stuff.
Crabbok Where I am that fishing case is more expensive then 12$ (+/-50$ CDN) ... And I payed 1,25$ for a 20x30 inch black foamcore sheet (4x sheet =5$). I do used fishing case or tool case but that kind of game come with some «aggresive» expension.. So it's always running out of space! ;) Anyway I don't critic your choice.. It's just I prefer make my own storage.. :)
+Mark Raymund Anorico Araya I wouldn't recommend it, because the bases and stands are more flimsy. They are more likely to break if you store them like this.
To me, this makes the most sense, and removes the very real risk of dropping or fumbling a storage box: www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/80269122/ And you get to look at your fleet whenever you like!
Looks nice mate, reminds me of a solution I saw for 40k. He used tiny magnets on the bases and a metal sheet on the bottom of the box.
A youthful looking Crabbok! :)

Thanks! I have no plans to add to the bases at this time. Mostly because as more ships comes out I may have to find a new solution altogether.

is this still how you do this? If not, maybe an update video. I just bought in and its a little overwhelming. Xwing is so much easier to store!
yeah pretty much. It's more crowded now that's for sure. I need a better option I think.

The fishing case was not the Armada solution I showed in this video.
What do you of this storage solution for x wing?

+Crabbok im sorry. I mean storing xwing in tubs. Can it work?

Iain b That is beautiful if you never want to bring your stuff to someone else's house or a store.
Just be very careful... ;-)
