The middle east tinge to your playing and singing is so calming. For those also digging it Dhafer Youssef is another killer middle eastern vocalist and musician
This is one of the reasons why i love this channel. You never ran out of ideas and tutorial stuff.
❤️🙏
What topic should I do next week? / is this helpful?
helpful lessons for certain. getting started with solfege and subsequent solfege lessons!
Oh Yas
Yeppp! I love that
¿cómo improvisar en temas de thelonious monk? o Giant Steps
Improvising lines against a progression. Not so much static, but playing changes like 2-5-1 lines or diminished lines or chromatics against the 4chord, or other chords, of a progression.
This may be the single most favorite lesson I ever seen. You have a remarkable talent for playing and teaching. I'm very happy I've found you. I've played for a living most of my life since the 70s. THIS IS FANTASTIC KNOWLEDGE
Your words are my thoughts! So well said!
I still come back often
This video is why I, as a jazz piano student, subscribe to a hand-full of jazz guitar teachers in addition to a select group of jazz piano teachers. You spark the imagination while teaching the musical possibilities. I hope you produce companion lessons for major seven and dominant seven chords also. Thanks!
oh wow! :)
RS is fast flying over the neck and yet he's able to be expressive.
Thank you Rot man.
Much love
Sing along. Great idea! And so fruitful. Your playing is so beautiful. I feel the guitar is the vessel you (we) we use to be able to emote what is inside us. Thank you for continuing to bring this to those of us who are searching.
really nice to see your channel growing and putting much pedagogical effort in it :)
Thank you for taking the time Rotem.
Cool man. Explaning how to hear the music through the notes your teaching is cool. Also sometimes when people are teaching there are some hidden secrets they leave unexplained. You leave no secrets, thanks!
Happy new year music man 🍻, thanks for the tips
Excellent teacher, very well explained and demonstrated. First video of yours I've watched - instant subscriber and looking forward to applying this to my practicing. Thanks!
I love the idea of singing notes of scales. Great lesson as always. Keep it up!
man i love this channel, your seriously becoming one of my favorite guitarists, up their with fredrick thorendal in my heart bro
bravo, continue this series, it's really helpful, thanks
You cook beautifully. Just enough spice. Tasty 🎸
This is fantastic. It’s a really good intro into dipping into other scales. I think as a guitarist there are various damascene moments where you can see the future. Moving from pentatonic as a beginner into natural scales, modes etc, and I feel this is probably the event that will get me to go to sit and work on harmonic minor and other scales. It feels a bit like someone drawing back the curtain, I think the examples you’ve given really show the possibilities. Thanks a lot!
🤘
This is so good, thanks for making it!
What a wonderful teacher I would say you are... I watched you in a video with the other dutch dude Paul Davids, and since then I have learned a lot of things that seem to be hard to understand in an easy way. I appreciate what you do very much. I wish you all the best Merry Christmax from Spain. Thank you !!
Great lesson, love how close it’s to singing . 🙌
Gotta say - you are on to it - some of the most inspiring educating jazz lesson on the tube. Cheers and keep it up the good work.
thank you so much! means a lot
I love this!! I’m not sure what I enjoy more, your lesson or you amazing phrasing!! I love it all! Very helpful!
much love!
אחינו היקר אני מודה לך כול כולי לומד ממך, השיעורים ממש עזרו לי להבין העומק באילתור.
תודה לך רותם.
תבורך מפי עליון !
🙏🙏 תודה!
your playing is so satisfying to watch
Solfege please! Thank you so much for these wonderful lessons. I gave up on trying to play jazz but with your TrueFire course and the RUclips stuff have gotten all excited and inspired to work at it again. Please keep the lessons coming - and hopefully another TrueFire in future...
Will do
beautiful guitar sound!
Amazing stuff ... subscribed!
You cant*t do enough as a professional jazz guitarist to teach the world. You are great. Especially if one has not time enough always to repeat and train every detail and will make it in the future from the archive.
thank you!!!
You are an amazing teacher
Bravo Maestro!
rotem is a pleasure hearing u SENSEI !
🙏🙏🙏
You sound amazing man
Why aren't more people watching your videos!?!? I'm currently practicing these scales in relation to Am and doing them in other keys as well and I'm re-enforcing this knowledge through Jamming with my buddies (we usually stick to a simple chord progression so all of us can improvise on top of, so this is some perfect info). Thanks for the lesson ^-^
Excellent!
Thank you!
Great! Thank you!
Great video lesson I love that sound of E m pentatonic and. Till 8:00 That sounds like Sahara Blues
great lesson
Big WOW! Thanks for this excellent lesson.
🙏🙏💙
Inspiring as always !
Thanks Gilles
Great lesson! I'd love if you finished every video like this with you jamming and mixing freely the different techniques you show!
i'll try :)
You are awesome, every Video turns on so many Lights.
:)
Really helps to open up the musically imagination! Thank you!

Blessed with your content. Keep up the good work brother. Love from India 💜🇮🇳
Thanks rotem from Italy
Love it gever!
Thanks Rotem 🙏🏼
I like you because you are a gourmand of sound. The way a chef tastes food, you help me taste sound
YAS :) thankssss
thnx for the fabulous lesson
Thanks, yet again, for an excellent lesson. Really useful and beautiful possibilities! Not to criticise but around 11.30, the word I think you were looking for is "haunting". Please keep the posts coming Rotem!
Thank you! 🙏 yep ;)
Sei veramente un Chitarrista eccezionale, bravissimo
Very good material for training..excelent

Love your solfège accent :)
Seems like good stuff, will revisit when I can devote more attention to it.

Brilliant - thank you 🙏
much love!
Impecable
cool lesson, lots of information
🙏!!
This is so beautiful bro ... cool ..
❤️❤️🙏🙏
So helpful stuff! Thanks a lot! Could you please, clarify your approach regarding modes?
שיעור נהדר וערוץ נהדר!!! יישר כח
toda!!
Really nice. I noticed an absence of the b5 as a color tone in any of the examples...that's another goot one! Just a straight A locrian mode works well.
This is really nice. Do you have video that describes what's going on with your guitar and the black tape? I'm intrigued.
Thank you guy, 🎸
🤘❤️
dang that guitar is a beautiful thing..
Hi Rotem. Do you know the band Khruangbin? I started thinking about mixing scales with different keys after listening to their music. Thanks for your great channel and awesome way of teaching. It's more intuitive to me than what I have found on RUclips so far.
I have known this friend Am, but today he is my newest friend! Thank you @rotem sivan. [Am]azing tutorial new subscriber here
Buenísimo
נהדר רותם! בובה של ערוץ יש לך🤎
hamon toda!
Playing the Am pent and Bm pent interactively gives you an A dorian scale
Ha!
Very helpful, Bob! Thx.
wow!!!
I'm a recent student on your channel by way of Truefire. I hope you plan on having more courses on Truefire as I enjoyed your soloing magic. And I definitely enjoy these instructional vids. I'm more of blues player than jazz, and have been starting to delve deeper into jazz by way of jazz blues. What do you suggest to deepen my jazz journey coming from a blues, soul background. Keep up these lessons, love em!!!!
thanks!!!
thanks!
Sure thing!
Beautiful!
What pedal do you use for sustain note ?
Thanks
Great lessons, as always, but the best part is the italian named notes
🤘
Hey Rotem I love your stuff you’ve helped me so much just in the past 2 days I was wondering though what kind of guitar is that normally?
I play a Gibson
@@RotemSivanGuitar what kind of Gibson is that?
muchas gracias
☀️
Yes Vietnam Scale. Thank you friend.
🤘❤️
You should do a video on the story of your archtop.
Really interested to know the little details of this beautiful piece of art
Your videos are the best. Love your playing.
Can you please explain why all these things work over A minor, is there any theory I can refer to.
Keep playing even if I don’t understand it, it speaks to me and I really enjoy hearing you play. Wish you all the success in this space. Cheers 🍻
I wish i could answer u...but i unfortunately for both of us i cant.
I can assure u tho that the connection between these things exists and u know epidermically i can see em ( for example em could work over am if u think maybe that em is the minor dominant chord of the am scale )
If u find the answer or have it already plz let me know
The theory needed to understand how all of this works is a good understanding diatonic harmony. In any given key there is a chord and a scale (or mode) built off each note. Its important to understand the order in which these occur (it's always the same) and how they connect with each other. Some of the scales (or modes) within a key are a type of minor scale or a type of major scale and can be reduced to a corresponding pentatonic scale.. The rabbit hole goes much deeper than that and I may have done no more than confuse which is probably why Rotem hasn't replied.
Cool! Great Sound! Which Kind of pick do you use? Dunlop Jazz3?
Dunlop blue (1.0)
Next topic should be how to increase finger dexterity
Hey man, I really love what you re doing, I have a question, how do you choose or how do you know which scale/mode fits on a chord or a chord progression, why did you choose for example those scales over the a minor?
That's a great Q. But not a quick one to answer..
@@RotemSivanGuitar lel come on man help us connect the dots...the sound itself is the most important but given the theoritical background is the thing that helps to utilize these things consciously dont u think?
Cheers have fun playing
What kind of effect do you use?
Pls do 5 steps of take the a train and/or tips of comping
love that song
😎
Do you use or have the Roland or other synthesizer connected?
Dude what's the elastic band for?
Thank you.Very helpful.
But sorry, that high E string is a bit louder,it rings over the others, sorry it's difficult to hear the other string.
What is the looper you are using to have both the jam sequence and the pedal note?
Boomerang / freeze
Txs a lot for your reply.
how can i get this sound like Pat Metheny ? please
6:19 Tool vibes
Hi Rotem... I'm from Italy. I would like to know the rig of this video... it' s possible? sei molto bravo!!
the same gear I always have!
@@RotemSivanGuitar really?!
What's your string gauge of choice?
Mmm. It changes lol... sorry!
@@RotemSivanGuitar are you on the heavy side? Looks like you pick super light!
HI Rotem, You are an amazing teacher! I have a question when we will mix Am pentatonic with Bm pentatonic it's a A dorian?
Tell me about your guitar??
It's wild man
There is a video about it on the channel
May I be so bold as to ask:What is going on with that guitar sir???
Haha good question!
פה דיאז
Just a technical feedback
The chord vamp is sounding like a feedback in the video and its coming between a two way playing session. I don't have a looper and i'm relying on your chord vamp for the lesson. Thanks
"Solfeggio"...!!!
So basically there’s no wrong notes
Dawg cut the ends of your strings, your headstock looks like pinhead
please trim your strings
