I'd love to see something like this again tweaked for a better experience on your side, though I'm not sure how best to achieve that.
Watching the entirety of Nils was definitely a mistake, so definitely a limit on how much of a series you need to watch before finishing a round.
The short subjects sometimes felt like they were frustrating you all with their insubstantiality, especially in the later rounds, but they're less of a time sink for a bingo round than an entire series, so maybe consider dropping less engaging series early in order to save time while focusing on watching more dedicated series/OVAs/movies that don't fall under... IDK, 20 minutes? 10 minutes per segment?
Maybe consider defaulting to original works when given spin-off content, because I really wanted to see you watch Odd Taxi when I saw the thumbnail, and when you said you hadn't seen it and you rolled that supplemental material... oooooooh... 😠 At least you didn't roll the compilation movie.

There is a reason for Italy to have the "annoying voice." That was actually part of the gag . Italy was seen be the other Axis powers as being the quote "soft underbelly" of Eroupe. And Germany and Japan felt like they had to keep bailing them out. That "annoyingness" is just how Japan at the time felt about them. I read too much history.

If you don’t mind me asking, this show looks to be animated in Korea, yet I noticed the lip flaps were for the English words. Was the show animated specifically for your dub, and if so, was the animation complete before you got to work on it, or did they model it around your performance at all?
It’s something we were wondering when watching the show, so if you can talk about this at all, I’d love to know!
@@Lextorias Yes, it was animated to the English-speaking actors’ performances; I remember recording to an animatic in late 2020, and then doing ADR work afterward.
Also, the series is now airing globally! (across Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, etc.) It has yet to reach the US, but we should hopefully hear news about a US-release soon. There is also a second season on the way!!

One of my favorite Anime of all time
I watched it too as a kid, didn’t even know it was an anime because it looked similar to western animation. I remember liking the show, but 1) I was a kid and 2) I wasn’t forced to binge the whole thing.

This was the 2nd blu-ray release I ever worked on, and I was quality checker so I watched the entire thing as well looking for errors, so at least I was paid to watch it 😅
I did enjoy it fwiw, tho I agree it didn't warrant 4 cours without a more substantive narrative, too episodic and narrow cast.

Mermaid Melody for the ending wasn't so bad.
The ending made me cry so much. Not because it was sad or beautiful but because I was close to passing out from laughing too hard. Fantastic 1 hour 38 minutes and 47 seconds of my life wasted.

Not only for the Swedish People, a lot of European Contries. Especially the German speaking ones. (A Austrian Studio was part of the Production). But there a lot of Anime from the 70s and 80s that were produced with or got huge in the European Market. For example Heidi, Wicki, Biene Maja. My mother watched them as a child and so did I. There are a part of a few generagtions childhood. The sad thing is many of them got a live action remakes and they are just soo ugly😢
Another old anime besides Heidi (Which had some Ghibli staff work on it) that you might have not seen is Anne of the Green Gables (Also had Ghibli staff on it). Anne with an N netflix show is from the same novel series as the anime 👍
@@MillyKKitty Sadly Anne of Green Gables wasn't as big in Austria apparently. I read the books as a teenager. But there was a Pinocchio Anime that I had forgotten that was bigger here.

@@MillyKKitty There are even two Pinocchio Anime. One from 1972 and one from 1976-77. The sdcond one is made by Nippon Studios (in cooperation with a German and an Austrian (state) TV channel). They are the same studio that also made Biene Maya, Heidi, Anne of Green Gabels and many, many western storys more. The first one was amde by K.K. Tatsunoko Pro. They also made Ping Pong: The Animation, Psycho Pass 2, a Beyblade film (?). And that one had a film release where just cut some episodes together, it is soo weird. Also it is rather dark, gave me naightmares as a child.

I'm from switzerland, and Nils Holgersson was on tv here when I was a kid (late 90s-early 00s, not the 80s) and I absolutely LOVED this show. But seeing some of the clips now I can see how it wouldn't be that great a watch, especially to binge and when you don't have any nostalgia for it.
How was the voice acting for it in Switzerland? Individual actors, good acting etc.?
I used to watch BuBu ChaCha with my mom during the holidays back in primary school. She was sick at the time with what we didn't yet know was cancer so she'd come home from work early and watch it with me. I still remember the opening and listen to it to remind myself of the good times I had with her. Shame that you didn't watch it but it's cool that I got to finally see someone bring it up since literally no one knows about it.
that blue steel anime has the most well disguised 3d I've ever seen
Sanzigen are pretty good with full 3D anime. Their recent BanG Dream and D4DJ anime have had some amazing animation and facial expressions.

The way this video ends is... certainly a directorial decision. I would have loved to see the trio's reaction to landing on an anime that perfectly enabled a kids'-TV-show 'everybody wins' conclusion. That anime at least deserved to have its freaking *name* known.

Arpeggio of Blue steel is basically the show that got me into Anime, I know it's not perfect but it's still one of my favourites, rated 90/100 on my list.

Mermaid Melody Pichi Pichi Pitch right at the end was a massive nostalgia jumpscare for me. I binged the entire series when I was like 11 with nothing but youtube fansubs and uploads split into multiple parts.
Was startled to see Mermaid Melody. I had been using this video as background noise while I drew only to look up at the end of the video to get an idea for what anime was used as the finale and see Mermaid Melody while I am actively drawing the main character from that show Luchia. Lmao!
Glad I was able to sit through this whole thing in a sitting as I enjoy watching these videos a lot. That whole Nils segment was beautiful.

World Masterpiece Theatre anime like Nil, Green Gables and Daddy Long Legs are genuinely beautiful to look at though with those traditional oil painted backgrounds and the constant use of serene, idyllic environments. It's like being transported to simpler times...

Looking at this, while funny, I think that you could take all the recommendations your community gives you or what people recommend online and put all of that into the wheel next time alongside all the things on your to watch list and your friends to watch list, so that we can have some quality amongst these shows for more laughs and more critique.
