The problem with this: he's an ice type, so your body heat will instead melt him. But I agree he's certainly one of the most huggable ice types in the entire series.

I needed something to help stay awake burning the midnight oil. I'm glad you're doing better health wise. A challenge I've tried in Pokémon is Platinum (and more recently Shining Pearl) with only a Shieldon, but I've never had the time and willpower to see it through. I'd be curious what you think of a run like that.
Hey MDB, here’s a suggestion: Hidden Power! Grab the TM for it in Fortree City, save in front of the forced Kecleon battle, and see if it’s worth using. Since Kecleon turns into the type Hidden Power is, it could potentially be great coverage for whatever Pokémon you use in Gen 3 challenges.
Kecleon doesnt have protean in gen3. Its type changes to moves that hit it not moves it uses

Hearing him mention how bad that was to get the right nature reminded me of when I started my own pokemon challenge in gen 4 and wanted to do turtwig, and got like 11-12 defense lowering natures in a row

Question: what was the most surprising pokemon challenge of 2022 for you? like which one you thought will be pretty easy but was difficult instead
I was going to suggest MDBQ, but yours has that fun mix of lower and upper case letters that 8/16 bit character restrictions create.
Question/Suggestion: Since you're a huge wrestling fan, if you had to make a team that best represents your favorite wrestlers as pokemon, who/what would they be? and what gen would best serve as a challenge for them? [this could be amini-series with i wrestling stable per gen]. They don't have to all be Fighting type [Kane could be a fire type, Undertaker ghost and Rey Mysterio flying for example]
Better get Brother Ray and Brother Devon to get the tables to cushion this challenge 😄

Have you ever thought of doing a challenge where you use only the Pokemon teams from the eight gym leaders? The catch being that you can only use that gym leaders team until you beat them, then you would move onto the next team. And you would have to complete the rest of the game with the 8th gym leaders game, and depending on the game the teams could be either good or bad.
Sounds interesting, but lots of grinding

Question for the next challenge: If you could change the base Pokemon formula, what would you change it to? This could be similar or Mystery Dungeon or any other game you’ve played.
Folks always sleep on using Blizzard for their ice types, but I feel like the extra power would really help hit some of those damage ranges. You could even throw Hail on your moveset to get some use out of Ice Body, or Rest to deal with Toxic.
My question for this run is: are there any challenges or series that you have ever been tempted to or wanted to redo later because you'd enjoy it more now? Also please do another Nancy Drew soon it's just the best
Hey MDB, hope you see the comment. Firstly, I'm really glad your channel picked up; I cannot think of anyone who I am more happy for in that regard, especially since the video in which you have shared your story and family situation... needless to say, it hit close to home.

What I am really trying to say is if you enjoy the work of Troika Games, I would strongly advise you playing Vampire the Masquerade: Redemption (and Bloodlines, the 'sequel').
Troika really knew what makes or breaks rpg games.

First off - I am never tired of hearing about Khimyra.
Second off - I knew exactly what you were talking about.
For the psychic gym you could've used Blizzard. The accuracy is not the most reliable thing, but it hits both opponents, at least it would've made short work of both Xatu and Claydol on the first turn. Judging by the damage that Ice Beam did to Solrock and Lunatone, it may have even one-shotted them too.
I finally bought a couple of the graphic tees and they really are comfy and the look is great. I was hesitant since most graphic tees can be itchy or bad shirts at the base but so far loving them. First time I listened to a RUclipsr ad and bought the product, mostly because of years of you not doing just any random ad.

Also fun fact about emerald double battle AI. (This is something the emerald kaizo figured out so shoutout to them) If you are in a double battle and the enemy pokemon see a kill with their moves, they will always hit that move into the slot that it kills. In a situation where multiple moves kill, they'll randomly select any of the killing moves regardless of typing. Thats why sometimes in double battles you'll see them target the empty slot the same turn it dies.
Random question for your next grinding session: (I think it should be called TLQ: Taking Lots of Questions. Of course, for the reference to the most average PPV special in wrestling, TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs)
With so many years on RUclips and so many series under your belt, has there ever been a series you regret making? Maybe you made it despite not having fun during it, or your comments hated it despite you loving it?

A fun skill based one would be wobbuffet, you CAN use items in battle, but you can't do any repeatable trainer battles and no reloading before major battles. Threw a bunch of potions at a failed gym Battle? Try again without those potions.
Can you beat the game before you run out of money?
Those damage ranges in the Steven fight were PAINFUL. I know you've said in older runs you don't really understand the EV/IV system, but EV training at the very least would prove to be incredibly beneficial in these solo challenges, particularly the more difficult ones. Would've almost certainly resulted in that Claydol and Cradily being OHKOs for instance

Love the content MDB! I hope you can keep going at your own pace, making what you can, and taking ample breaks! I've never really been an outspoken member of this community (as I enjoy watching and supporting from afar), however I thought being another positive comment lost to RUclips algorithm would be fun this time around! Joking aside, my wife has similar conditions to you (foremost example being EDS), so seeing your health problems firsthand has given us both a lot of insight for the future. Seeing that you haven't given up through all the hardship sent your way has really helped my wife and I see every day a little brighter than the last. You have been our quiet inspiration that everything will eventually be okay, even if there are more difficult trials to come.
All in all, I hope your pain eases soon. Stay strong MDB, you have quite the supportive audience. Whether we watch patently in the back or actively voice our support, I can assume we all want to see you progress forward. Can't wait to see the next challenge run! You could call the question segment the Ginnungagap, it’s the place where ice and fire meet to make the first giant (an oversimplification, I know) but it’s a very unique word to search for and I think it’s interesting
Appearantly being the 0.01% I loved hearing that you like Victoria 2 and 3. Fun to see people have the same wildly niche taste in games I seem to have :D
Gotta learn to lean into resto chesto strats, they work wonders.
Also, if I am thinking of this correctly, levels that end in 0, 3, 5, and 8, provide significant boosts to damage because of a wierd rounding work in the game, so this may save you time while grinding levels.

Flygon HG just beat alpha safire with only six spheals. The greater number of Pokémon allows for more strategy instead of grinding. He played with hardcore nuzlocke rules also, incredible content with animations and all.
However mydrybtead beating his head against a wall until it collapses has a charm to it. It never fails to entertain.
AskMDB: my question is, which region is your favorite to do challenges in, and least favorite besides Unova. Good to see the challenges and videos returning.
Love the challenge! Snorunt is one of my favourites just cause of the dramatic change on evolution.

The Fallout 4 video was also very entertaining, and I've also heard rumors that...Dogmeat can wear dog armor, duh! Not even in your Pokémon challenges are you safe from that dreaded comment! Idea for a run: Beat a pokemon game by using the Pokemon each Gym leader uses to defeat that Gym leader (debatable if you should also use their moveset) and use the champion‘s team for elite4 and champion. Might not be the hardest challenge, but maybe an interesting one?

I was going point out that Water Pulse would have been good for dealing with Fire-types... but then I remembered that you don't get the TM for it until the eighth Gym.
Also, my two cents on the "Blue's Raticate" theory: Blue (or whatever you named your rival) specifically states that he's in Pokemon Tower looking for a Cubone. Later on, he says that he's put together a team of the strongest Pokemon while working on his Pokedex. It's far more probable (and let's be honest, more in-character with Blue's general attitude in Gen I) that he simply put his Raticate in the PC after it started falling behind the rest of his team--which is what most players probably did the first time playing through the games.

I've wanted this run for a long time!!
Pacifilog Town showing up in the anime helped me pronounce it. It's pretty tough at a glance, until you realize it's just Pacific Log Town (you see, it's clever because it's made of *logs* and it's on the *ocean*).
I think maxing speed and going for flinches with headbutt and crunch would work pretty nicely.

Maybe blizzard on Steven would have worked over Ice Beam for that last fight. It's not as accurate, so it might have been another while and might not have even ended up working anyway.
Either way, the video was great. Good job with the challenge. I've always liked Snorunt, but you get it so late in the game it's usually not better than anything else you might have
For my question, I want to know if you had any other games lined up for challenge videos aside fallout and the elder scrolls games? Like a borderlands 2 run may be neat.
Also, for the word to search, either make it some sort of joke to go with the fossil joke in each episode, or change it every time to increase watch retention.

Great vid as always. If you ever have another emerald run with a pokemon that has access to ghost and dark moves, I recommend having both. I'm sure you just forgot because it is stupid, but in until gen 4, all ghost moves were physical. That could've helped with Lunatone since it would ignore the light screen and calm mind special defense boosts.

It's kinda janky but the setting is so good! I love just exploring places and talking to everyone. Combat can be weird sometimes, but it's still fun.
I also really love the elder scroll challenges, it was funny :-) and of course pkmn challenges are always interesting, cause it's the chance to see forgotten pokemon that are never used or not often
I think I have a good challenge, pokemon with only draining moves. Moves like draining kiss, drain punch and leech seed. Basically any move that drains the opponents health and replenishes your health. It would probably start really hard but get easier as you near the end of the game.

MDB's Slice of the Day: Do you plan on doing any Gen 6 challenges anytime soon? X and Y have a lot of Pokémon options, TMs are pretty good, the Leveling System isn't awful like Gen 5, and EXP. Share pumps your Zigzagoon up for better Pickup Items.
I suggest a Drowzee run, In-game Trades run, and No Healing at Pokémon Center run.
