Lems been riding in a shirt and gloves hasn't he 😉
*ATGATT INTENSIFIES
Too hot for anything else
What makes you think that? Lol
Brilliant 🤣🤣🤣
Tan indicator
I just started riding this spring and love those short, informational videos that get straight to the point! Thank you!
With only two wheels, I never take chances on the tires.
Sunscreen! I can't say anything I have the same tan lines right now.
My rear sportmax q3 has steel belts visible in the center, so I think I’m considering replacing it.
Absolutely crazy tan lines Lemmy 😂😎🥵
Thanks for the videos fellas.. not all are of interest to me but I manage to find a nugget of new knowledge in about every video. I appreciate what you do.
I not sure if this is the same as you mentioned about the front tire but I always check my front for broken steel belts. It feels lumpy as I ride in michigan and the roads are not in the greatest condition. I find I get about 1/2 the life on my front as I do the rear
I bought my 2005 Kawasaki Vulcan used in 2015. It still had the original tires on it and they looked great (bike had only 7 km in 10 years). I replaced them for peace of mind though.
The new tires already have the triple kilometer on them :-)
If I followed this advice I’d be replacing tires twice as often...I take mine at least to the wear bars on rear tires, and generally 2 rears to a front...unless it gets a puncture that’s not repairable. I’ve used up dozens of tires well past flatspotting and never had a failure beyond a puncture.
How can you tell if someone is a biker? Look at their left shoe or their gloves-ankle-tan LOL love you Lemmy
I plugged a tire on my Vulcan, and still rode on it for about a year in Ohio during the Winter. I never had an issue.
What about if the front starts wobbling when it didn’t before? Tread wear causing imbalance or maybe the headlight it shining too high?
Hey Fred Gassit's get this, see in the 1990's when aehy was a motorcycle courier aehy mostly had motorcycles with 17 inch front wheels see plenty but not all wreckers sell 2nd hand tyres scrubbed on the sides on the racetrack but centre tread %90 for $50 plus maybe $15 fitting a $250 tyre a sticky compound...
Front tire on my sport bike was squared off causing it to need more handle bar pressure in a lean. New tire on and now it stays leaned over with little input.
Tires should be good for 10 years
Kudos to you Lem for wearing gloves when you ride! Your tan lines and white hands give it away… I have the same look. Always ride with gloves, I’m surprised at how many videos I see people wearing total gear except for gloves…
Well tires have cracks and flat spotted but its end of season soo gonna be done next year
Also consider tires if you buy a used bike and are not sure of the condition of the tire, as in my case. 08 sporty.
When taking your bike to a dealership to have new tires put on, is the chain tension done to proper specs or how does that work?
Great knowledge handed out. Love the tan lines!
That won't be before I retire. But I‘ll probably get new tyres before then.
Lol, i like how when i got "new" tires on my bike they were new...in the 1st quarter of 2015. I told my dealer that this is my first bike but i didnt tell him i used to build hydraulic hoses so i know how to mark stuff with rubber. I just let it go, though. They're some cheap pirellis and im gonna replace them with commander IIs I think
I would also replace a tyre if it was over 5 years old . Tyres do not get better with a age and though it might look good they often have hardened and lose grip especially in the wet .
That's the general advice I heard too. I think the tire manufacturers say it as well; rubber will degrade enough in 5 years that it doesn't have the traction it once did.
Hey Lemmy/RevZilla team, I heard on another video that after about 4~5 years you should change them. The reason for it is due the way the rubber tends to flex (or lack of) therefore one should change em out after that time frame. Is there any truth to this in your opinion?
Everything has some sort of shelf life , and a tire is something that I wouldn't want to be using past it's prime . 5 years sounds about right to me for switching them out for a new set . I've always had to change mine much sooner than that due to wear . I buy a new helmet every 5 years too just because I'm convinced that's their lifespan . = )
@@bradb9146 yea I hear you, I actually just swapped my tires (which looked healthy) but it's been some time since they've been changed. I'm the second owner and the previous owner didn't ride it hard but.... I wanted white walls hahahahaha so I said screw it.
5 years seems like pushing it to me. Where I come from you cannot register your vehicle if having a set of tires older than 3 years. That's something to think about, especially if your bike has been sitting more than being ridden. I understand it depends on the weather and the road conditions and how much you are riding your motorcycle, still, in my opinion 5 years is too much
@@todxbranko Tires can most definitely last 5 years depending on what you really expect to do with them.
@@Z6D4C4 as I said. It's my opinion, and local law as well. Anyway, I almost never get a chance to ride that long on a set of tires, so perhaps I'm not the one to talk from experience
What about winter (snow) tires?
tyres get tyred mine are 3 years old but are feeling done 👍
Glove tan is priceless.
If your tires are over 10 years old, regardless of tread life; replace them.
I have 3 year old tires, I've noticed there's small cracks in the grooves of the front tire but not the rear, what does that mean? Going to get pilot road road 4s by the end of this year.
lol replacing too often like this is gonna break my bank. i'll keep using my tires until it looks soo bald and keep using it. hell those tires ain't cheap.
Hockey and riding, thanks!
What about tires that are over 10 years old and have low mileage?
Thanks for that! Just what I needed :)
Can you make a video about spark or start engine?? thanks
Both my tires were extremely dry rotted, severely cracked all around the sides. Came like that when I bought the bike. I rode 12 miles to the closest repair shop. Most sketchy ride ever.
Lemmy or instead of throwing away a perfectly good tire maybe keep them in the shed as a back up if your new tire gets a flat.
Just a reminder - check your tires ALL the way around. I had a defect in my tire, leading to a worn out spot that I never noticed until it blew out on me.
I live these video guys! Thanks!
I just purchased a 2014 Harley Fat Boy that has only been ridden 400 miles over the past 5 years. Tires are still stock and the bike was kept in a climate controlled garage. Inspecting the tires they look fine. However, I am a little worried about them being 5 years old. Should I be concerned?
Donald Hunter I have the exact situation and I am usually adding air to my front tire 2-3 times per week so I’m changing it out.
You said tires cant be rotated, my Rebel 500 has the same size front and back tire, is it safe to rotate those? Gonna guess if theres a need to rotate it'd be best to replace but in a pinch, say money-wise, would it work?
No the tyres on bikes are generally made for the back or front wheel and will have a tread pattern to match . There are exceptions to this small scooters and some small bikes ( 125 cc and below) . When I first started riding in the eighties you used to get tyres that you could fit to the back and front wheel for some bikes but these days I really wouldn’t advise it.
This guy needs to stick around! He’s Good on camera
Surprised to see no comments or discussion on age of tire....
Random, but was was Sydney Crosby referring to in that little clip?
Thumbs up for the Crosby plug
That glove tan 👌👌👌
Thanks lem

Richie didn't like you either Sid. But we all like Lemmy :)
nice tan lines
I'm disturbed by how close this is to 3 minutes than 2
Nice tan bro!
Do a video on Newly bought defective tire experience.
Good info, man.
My favorite tan lines lol
What’s the best website to buy affordable tires? (Just a noob asking)
Try the website of the channel you're commenting on, I'm sure you'll find something for yourself
when you guys are going to sell this new pair of gloves?
That glove tan tho.
You don't answer my question.
what happened to a friend of mine, He went into a dealership and told them to change 2 tires, one front , one rear. They did this , only to charge him for 3 tires. He argued , almost got into a fight with the manager. What a bunch of morons.
Did they explain why they charged for 3 ? Or did they just pretty much not admit to it ?
@@noctusxv2341 After a very heated argument, the dealership finally gave in. The customer is always right I guess.
@@mdf1951 what we all wondering is why they charge for 3 tires when majority of motorcycles are 2 wheeled?
@@eidrag They were idiots I guess, That's why my friend got so pissed off. I know it does not make sense at all. Its like they never went to school or something.
t shirt riding :)
Should you listen to a tire salesman when to replace your tire?
Besides I PROMISE you'll learn so much riding a tire past the wear bars into the cords when it starts slipping wildly. Great learning experience. You can even do it bald in the rain as long as it's hot. But it will dirty your bike with all the rubber bits coming off at the end. You probably have between 200-500miles after wear bars at least if you're leaning over. On the highway probably less.
Please dispense of your old tires by some other means than the trash.
Nice farmer's tan on your hands. LOL! Keep wearing gloves while riding!
Didn't even mention cupping?
About the time you’re rear is done, it’s not that much more for all round safety
