I finally bought my first Strider on the secondary market. An smf with the same pattern as this one except with a tanto blade. So excited, this will complete the holy trinity for me.

I have 2 just like this one. Funny how these expensive knives do not come with any packaging

Rounded tip and overly stiff detent. They are supposed to be sharp tips not rounded and never had a detent like that on a strider. Check it out good before you keep it

This was actually an older video that got lost and I failed to release. Detent and action are both great now after being broken in. Tip is still rounded but something I can easily fix, just haven’t gotten around to it.

Rounded tip? That has to be from keeping the sharpening method at the same angle on the full length of the blade, right? So what's wrong with that? I think to get the sharpest tip you'd have to adjust the angle as you moved up towards the tip to be aimed right towards the top of the handle. I don't think I could be consistent at that. Who can? I'm beginning to think I don't know anything about sharpening knives! I'd like to hear you and olmmedic elaborate on this. Maybe I can learn something.

I’m no expert at sharpening either, but it looks like there wasn’t quite enough material taken off of the tip during sharpening, leaving it sharp but blunt and rounded. If you look closely at the spine of the blade you can see where the coating continues past the sharpened bevel and actually starts to wrap around the tip. That and the sharpened bevel is a little bit thicker at the tip than the rest of the blade.

@@palmettoedge1908 Well when you "fix" this I'd be much obliged to see the results. Goodonya, mate. Oh, and Dan, I got my UTX-85 D/E today! I tell you, the bloody thing is perfect. And you well know I've never held a real one so I have no comparison.

Don't press the Lock bar when you open it! Thanks for showing. Do they all come without box!? Greetings D

I know, I have a bad habit of doing that. It did have a very stiff detent before being broken in even without pressing on the lockbar. Yeah Striders don’t come in any kind of fancy box. A little upsetting for people like me that have a good knife box collection too.
