- This Sunday we finally have an update on our hexagon quilting project. We bought some amazing handkerchiefs, with some unique embroidery patterns, on our trip to England when we visited Kate @thelasthomelyhouse and walked the Hadrian wall.
These handkerchiefs will now be added to our hexagon quilting project, with the hexagons we received from Kate. Arne demonstrates how we will cut and sew the handkerchiefs onto hexagons and we are aiming for a balanced and symmetrical appearance.
Carlos shares his plans for a new quilt inspired by Liberty fabric samples he obtained. We also show you how to remove the hexagon paper templates and try out different potential combinations of fabrics.
We hope you like the update of the hexagon quilt and remember to like and subscribe!

A visit to the Liberty factory in Italy would be delightful!
Yes, yes, yes to Liberty Fabric Factory!! Love watching these!!
I can imagine that Kate is grinning from ear to ear watching this video! 🦋 look forward to seeing more of your quilting adventure…..💕
Thank you!
A tour of the Liberty factory would be wonderful. Arne and Carlos are my favorite tour guides.
Thank you!
Carlos that sample block is stunning - Kate can help you if you need it to take the easiest quilt route to put it together if you are stumped. That looks like you could “snow ball” parts of it, although i couldnt see it terribly clear. It will be beautiful!!
Since Kate has made Liberty as an almost holy shrine and now you're sold on them too - I'd love to see the factory. Both of your projects are going to be beautiful. I hope the Hexagon will adorn the guest room outside. I think that's perfect for that little house. And Carlos' stars will be terrific in the teal room. Yay.
Kate should go on the liberty tour with you…she loves liberty fabrics…
I don’t do quilts, but I love to watch you put colors and patterns together!❤
What a lovely place to be working! It will be fun to see your projects unfold. Thanks
Thank you for watching!
Oh yes, visiting Liberty Fabric would be so interesting.
Ya ya I would love to have a tour to Italy and the Liberty factory. That sounds so exciting
It would be something that would be fun to do one day.
Great idea using the embroidery for the quilting peices.
Thank you so much!
Love to see the quilts being planned
It is the fu part.
I would love a trip to Liberty Fabrics. Yes, yes, yes!
I second the idea of knowing more about Liberty prints🙏
Kate taught me about Liberty. The first time i worked with it, i was in heaven. Enjoy your projects guys.❤❤
Yes for the Liberty Fabric shop!!!
Beautiful work with handkerchiefs and the liberty fabric just gorgeous, thanks for sharing
Thank you!
It is so good to see friends doing quilting together. I really like your crazy quilt show too. I have learned a lot from you two. Thank you so much!!!
Yes to seeing Liberty.
Enjoyed watching talking about Hexes. A Liberty factory trip would be amazing.
I can't believe the timing...I was going through some boxes today looking for my National Park Passport when I came across the antique box I got from my grandmother Marie (b. 1908 d. 1995). I had been given this box years ago and had kept it the way it was - full of a stack of different handkerchiefs. Going through it today, I found one of the exact handkerchiefs that Arne has in this video! It was unused as the sticker on the back says 100% cotton hand embroidery made in China. The bonus handkerchief I found was one with beautiful embroidery with "Lewis and Clark Expedition 1905" over it, and my great grandmother's name Annie Simonsen embroidered on the back. What a historic treasure celebrating 100 years of the Lewis and Clark Expedition to Washington and Oregon! Thanks for inspiring me to take a closer look at the handkerchiefs in this box!
Yes! Lets all pile in the bug & head to the Liberty Factory! I call shotgun! Lol Can't wait to see your projects finished!!
Blessings
Hello Arne and Carlos and thank you for sharing ❤️ and you have a wonderful day ❤️
A trip to Italy and going to the Liberty factory would be so nice. I would love to see that for sure. 😊
Love that you change up your projects that you highlight. Your beautiful sunny garden makes even paper piecing attractive. I'll stick to knitting/crocheting, weaving and garment sewing.
I love the gold Liberty fabric. 😍
I think it would be exciting to see how they design and manufacture their fabrics, in the Liberty factory!
I love quilting! I’ve just started English paper piecing a “plus” quilt for my granddaughter.
A visit to the Liberty factory would be very interesting. Love the amount of care Arne is taking with the patches. ❤👍from Somerset, UK
Arne and Carlos, there's no doubt the quilt will be fabulous.and you have so many other projects to keep us engaged until it is completed.
Love too see update on hexagon quilt.
I'd love to see Liberty Fabric!
How lovely the work looks. Moose Moose!
Yes to the liberty factory!
A tour of Liberty would be amazing
The two of you have such patience with all of your sewing projects. I'm not a quilter, but I love seeing the beautiful quilts that other people make. Kate's trip to the quilt show in England last week was amazing. Have a great week working on your projects!
A visit to Liberty would be wonderful to see!
Yes to fabric tour 🎉
Yes, I would love to see the tour!
Yes lets go to the factory!
Liberty is beautiful. Robin loves it.
We do too , have been going there since the 90s
Really enjoyed watching a long-ish hands-on crafting episode! Even though I'm not quilting these days, I love observing the design process.
🦄
I love the fabrics also. I agree with your other commenters that Kate would be very helpful in planning the best way and easiest path to sew your block. Great jobs guys!!😊❤
We are sure Kate would be very helpful, but we think we are going to figure this one out on our own 😊
I am the moderator of OUR TIME TO QUILT!! Gentlemen best of luck with your quilt!!
Yes, a field trip to Liberty!
Quilt will be lovely in Liberty. Create a 9 unit over your design then you can see how easy it will be to make.. Use the size of the center square as a guide.
Great update!! Thanks for sharing!! ❤😊
Thank you for watching!
Yes! Take us to Liberty Fabrics!
I would love to see a trip to the factory, my hands have never touched Liberty Fabric !! Your hexagons are very pretty and delicate.
Garden Tours and seeing the Liberty Factory would be fabulous!
HI guys! This project is going to be a good one.
Yes, Definitely visit the Liberty Factory!!
❤What lovely fabrics! Possibilities in quilting are endless - what fun! The hexagons are coming along beautifully. I like the contrasting centers!❤
I’m not a quilter, but that star design looks like a classic pattern, which probably has great directions for how to piece it.
I am a quilter. The Liberty Tour sounds marvelous.
I never get tired of watching you two work!
I love the embroidered handkerchief and gingham quilt and Carlos, I love your quilt square design! I think that placing them next to white (or mostly white) squares would be GORGEOUS and make the colorful squares stand out beautifully! 🤩YES, go to Liberty and take us along!
Yes please Liberty factory in Italy would be amazing ❤❤❤❤
What a beautiful way to use the embroidered handkerchiefs for hexagons!!! Soooo beautiful!! 🪡🧵💕
And a big yes from me, I love Liberty fabrics, thanks guys. Your quilt is going to be amazing Carlos. Love to you both.
I like that you are upcycling your shirt.
So pleasant to be crocheting a cardigan while watching your videos. A moment of Zen. And you're both having such good hair days!
I love these!!!! It gives me some good ideas!!! But...you do need to get the clear acrylic hexagon template so that you can "fussy cut" the hexies! Let's you place it exactly!
You both have lovely fabrics. Those will make a beautiful runner.
Very nice fabrics from the Liberty people Carlos. So many fun color choices to make your quilt. Please continue show us your progress.😊
We will, thank you!
This is a fun project. I have been a fan of Liberty for decades. Also - I used to work at Laura Ashley and, when fabrics were discontinued, had to take the swatches out of the binder. They were quite large and would have been discarded - but I gave them a happy home.. Still have them.
Lucky you!
I am an avid quilter. You could do a planned scrappy quilt & use more fabrics. All golds, but different patterns of your gold, or slightly different golds. You could use your sample box & would have enough fabric, since it would just take a bit of each piece.
Happy Sunday my friends! Enjoyed watching you quilt today. Have a great week! ❤😘
Yes, a trip to Lake Como and a visit to the Liberty Factory!
Brilliant thank you ❤
You are welcome!
Although it's not in my budget, but if it were, yes, yes, yes to include liberty fabric tour.
Wow I going to teach myself quilting I made my temp pates the other day, love the video bless you both.
I once bought a small thick book with 500 different quilt block designs and paperpiece designs where the lines are indicated in bold how to cut and sew them. in my opinion a must have for every quilter to get inspired because you can make so many different motifs in blocks. and why sketch if you can get all general blockmotifs in book shape ;)
Carlos - glad you got the messageLOL. Dont cut - you two bring me such joy -and chuckles -
I love anything textile-related especially, gorgeous fabric designs!
Very excited to see the Liberty Factory. Such gorgeous colours!
I recently made a quilt using Liberty of London fabric. I made something called a disappearing 9 patch using a variety of 5 inch floral squares with two contrasting light and dark squares as a background. I wish I could show it to you. Fast, easy, and beautiful!
The thing about your design, beautiful by the way, is that it is very similar to many of the old quilt patterns. There are many technical books out there (such as 1000 Great Quilt Blocks) that show you how to make the sewing part easier.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide to do.
Yes, please. I'm a quilter and I would love to see where the beautiful Liberty Fabrics are made. I so enjoy all the videos that you bring to us.
A visit to Liberty factory would be amazing.
Yes please go to Liberty and show it to us!! Sitting outside working on your projects looks wonderful. Sunshine, nice breeze. 😊
Love Liberty fabric...maybe someday I will be able to buy some. Thanks to Kate for introducing us to you two. Enjoy your videos also...I love making hexagon quilts!!
Yes to a liberty visit. Can't wait to to see how both quilts turn out.
Really enjoyed sitting and sewing with you both. Anything you do makes me happy....thank you
Carlos you were so brave with the mouse. I would have been at the hotel. I totally understand the PTSD that comes from the event.
Looking forward to watching your quilts grow! Thanks for sharing!
I just figured out easy sewing for your quilt block. Make an x on pattern from corner to corner. Sew 4 of those triangle sections to make a block. Gold trapezoids can be cut as one piece. Center is 4 triangles. Corners are 2 triangles. That is the easiest way with least amount of cutting & no y-seams!
Oh, beautiful to work outside in the fresh air. I love the hexagons.
Yes Liberty factory and more quilting
Yes!yes! A trip to Italy and Liberty fabrics would be wonderful. I want to go.😊.
Love the hexagon quilt.

Another vote for a trip to Liberty factory. Would love to see that.
I am trying to get my courage to start one of these projects. I would love you to have a tour of Liberty Fabrics. Maybe Kate could accompany you both. Thanks for the great videos. I enjoy them all.
You should just start:-)
Let's go to Liberty!
Your Liberty fabric choices are all beautiful, and the first piece that you showed is a perfect match to my living room curtains. Perfect for throw pillows.
Thank you!
I love playing with the fabrics🎉
A Liberty tour would absolutely be appreciated!!
We must have been in your part of Michigan last week. We traveled up on Friday (not knowing about the storm) for our granddaughter’s wedding. The power was still out at the wedding venue on Saturday night but with a back-up generator running, things went as planned. 😊
