Thank you for taking us along with you on your thrift store visit. I love the idea of Arne "saving" unfinished projects and giving them a new life. Wherever the lady/ladies is/are who started them, I'm sure she/they will be pleased!
I love the way Arne modernizes these old needlepoint canvases and gives them new life. I’d love to see a whole episode where he shows us how he design and picks the colors and background pattern to work with the original motif.
It's good to see projects being finished, and sometimes in unexpected ways. The question I have is, does Arne finish all the projects, or is he slowing building up a stash of projects others have started.
Loved that visit to the thrift store! How well maintained and organized the shop is; that demands a huge commitment. Arne, maybe you and Carlos will do a session to verbalize how you plan new background designs for the found pieces. How you determine the shapes, colors and whether you design as you stitch or put it on paper or computer first. I, for one, would love to hear you talk through your methodology. Both of you have such multifaceted talents. Well done today. Thank you for the glimpse into the village. You are appreciated!
I love thrifting, too! There’s just something special about giving an object a second chance. Arne’s finished embroidery is outstanding!! Just beautiful.
Thanks for taking us on your thrift shop trip. Honestly, I think your needlepoint/embroidery pieces come from several people, not just one. Glad you are giving them life.
Arne's finished projects are such an improvement over what they would have originally been! I loved this episode. I think you should take us yarn shopping some time!
My mother was an seamstress, taught me to knit & great with crafts. When we were selling items from house after my parents had both died, a stranger asked me if we had any unfinished embroidery for sale. We happily gifted it to her, pleased that my mother's work would be cared for by another. I really enjoyed & appreciated this episode 💖. Reminder of my darling Mother
Arne, the Dead Old Blind lady would be so thrilled if she could see the beautiful way you have finished her work! Carlos, you were very self controlled and didn't buy a thing.😂 I would have grabbed the spinning wheel I saw at one point, as I've always wanted one. Thank you for taking us with you!
Your enthusiasm is infectious Arne! I love how you look at something discarded with your artist eye. And how you have time for all you do makes me wonder if you ever sleep?! Love the episode -was planning to knit and listen but it was too interesting!
OMG Arne.... I have little ( not so little) boxes and suitcases just like this... My socks are knitted from thrift shop wool finds... I can't leave stuff that someone has put their heart and soul into making.... I am there with you in that thrift shop... What a lovely place to pootle around.
I loved this episode, thrift shopping with both of you is such fun! Those embroidery finds are such treasures Arne. More thrift shopping trips please! 🧶🧵🍂
Arne you have the aptitude for searching out dead peoples projects to finish ❤ I just love you for that 🥰 Giving the world precious projects a new life You are a star ⭐️
“On this weeks episode: Watch as Arne &. Carlos are taken down by police for stalking in the bushes” 😂😂😂😂😂😂 ahhh love you both so much. You just absolutely brighten my day❤
Yes, I love seeing what catches their eye and what they want to take home. Their interests vary quite a bit. They’re both so intriguing. And so adorable to watch. 💕
Arne & Carlos very very inspiring podcast ...Arne you are very gifted with your hands . Carlos I live way you support Arne creativity. Well done...💞💞💞💞💖💖💖
Loved this trip to the thrift shop with you both. I love that Arne takes these unfinished projects and gives them new life with his own ideas to finish them. I look forward to seeing more of your trips to the thrift shops and what treasures you find.
Can you go back and check out the spinning wheel there? If in good condition, I’ll pay nicely for it. I love thrift shopping and especially now seeing what you do. Like your haircut Arnes.
Hey, Arne and Carlos!Don't assume the work was not done by a talented man. The best needlepoint I have ever seen was stitched by men. A famous American Football player, Rosie Greer, always won multiple prizes at the annual Los Angeles shows. In the 1980's, a lot of 'aerospace' men were laid off and several began to attend the workshops at local shops. They were masters at reading charts because they had written so much of the early computer coding and programming. I know a local man who works 5 hours a day at needlepoint that has such tiny stitches the completed piece looks as if it were a painting. Don't sell yourselves short. Just look at the creative juxtaposition of those soft cats basking amongst spiky hounds' teeth. Genius!
50. Years ago my mother-in-law gave me a chair seat in needle point to do. I did not know needlepoint so it went to a goodwill shop and hopefully an Arne prototype bought it, finished it and it sits on a beautiful chair!
That thrift shop looks amazing, Aladdin's cave! Such a great idea to finish canvases from there and probably saving some money too. And supporting a charity, win, win, win!
One of the best episodes ever! I just love your thrift store; I could spend a lot of NOK there. The 8-petal rose background on the horse pillow is so beautiful. Sedestal embroidery patterns are just perfect for needlepoint backgrounds! Who knew? Arne & Carlos, of course.
I too loved this episode. I live in the Far North of England and I love thrift shopping. I can tell you that the Blind / Dead old Lady has traveled to here too, even leaving her unfinished work in very similar baskets! Can I also say that I’ve spend hours searching for Scandinavian pottery……..now I know where it all is . Absolutely lovely. Many thanks,
When I lived in Hawaii I went to a thrift shop and found this beautiful crewel embroidery kit that wasn't done but all the yarn was with it. I finished it and just love it and have it framed in a cola wood frame with a blue matting and it is so beautiful. So fun to find things in a thrift store
It’s nice that there are people out there that enjoy finishing off someone’s unfinished projects. I hope that if someday I pass before a quilting project is completed, that there will be someone like Arne to take it up to the finish line. Thanks for sharing with us. 👍❤️😊
My dad learnt to do embroidery whilst he was recuperating from TB in Liverpool 1956. I have a peacock which he completed and the back is as neat as the front❤️❤️
Well done for finding embroideries to finish. I found a lovely hexagon, English paper piecing, unfinished quilt, which I finished. It gave me so much pleasure.
Especially enjoyed this video - haven't thrifted or been antiquing since Covid, and I forgot how much I missed it! Old needlework supplies, patterns and UFOs are my favorite thing to look for (pretty dishes are second). I'm sure the dead old blind lady would be thrilled to know her precious UFOs went to someone who appreciated and will finish them. ♥
I love what you have done with the unfinished projects. If the lady is still alive and can see she wil love what you have done with her things. I hope you find her❤❤❤❤
I remember thrift shopping every week. I started collecting crocheted pieces of lace. Then one day I found “The Lord’s Prayer” which had been crocheted and was probably used on the back of a chair, just safety pinned in place on the top of a recliner. Someone spent hours making this piece. I took it home… $5 find! I had it framed by some friends. So, Arne, I get this passion for old crafts🥰 I see her weathered hands crocheting this piece for her home. Cheryl
I watched your video and your assumption that the person giving these projects is either blind or dead is not strictly the only reason a person donates their collections to charity. I am a 79 year old lady that has done a lot of needlework over the years. I walk around my house and am very happy with everything I have done and that is hanging on my walls. I still do small projects but have lost interest and room for the large projects, so I have given all that away to our local hospital thrift shop. Also, I have taken over lots of needlework from ladies who have had to downsize or go into a care home. So, you see, lots of reasons for giving away the stuff you still love to do. But let me tell you it is very hard to give up your projects, finished or unfinished that you have lovingly collected (with great intentions to finish) over the years. I am very happy to see a person like you make something of these treasures. :-)
I've been watching you a long time. It's interesting to see Arne's thought process when he's thrift shopping. I loved Carlos' shock and horror at Arne's suitcase!
Carlos speaking of the mystery lady: It would be fun to meet her one day. Arne: Not if she's dead 🤣🤣🤣 You guys always make me laugh and smile. Thank you for sharing the awesome trip to the thrift store it was fun!
I went a little crazy buying counted cross stitch kits when I lived in Denmark back in the 70's. I absolutely loved the look but then found I had no patience for all those teeny tiny itty bitty little x's lol. My sister in law finished them for me. I LOVE your houndstooth pillow - so clever and beautiful!
I just love watching you two and so glad you let me share in your day. Arne thats the first thing i do when i go to second hand stores, right for materials for doing my crafts, its so much a part of me and what i like. I recently started making a sew as you go quilt and started sewing it together today. About 5 or 6 years ago i made crazy quilts for each of my 5 daughters and mother for christmas. It was more like a memory crazy quilt because i put pictures and jewlery on them as well as beads and embroidery. I put a sleeve on them so they could hang them up. I love the white one and blac one you two made and often go back to watch those again. Love you take care
I loved this episode! I have been thrifting with my daughter since she was a youngster. We made many wonderful memories. My daughter is now 29 years old and is in graduate school. To this day, she still shops at thrift stores and considers each find a treasure. You both always make my heart smile. Thank you!
That’s a really nice thrift shop I’m so impressed with the way Arne has updated the background on the traditional needlepoint patterns. The pre-made floral needlepoint square canvases were meant to choose a background colour of your choice to match your decor and finish it for chair seat covers Making them as cushions is brilliant ! Love the video and take care 🇨🇦❤️🍁
My mom used to take me to thrift stores and rummage/garage/yard sales, and I have always loved going. It is so lovely to see the variety of treasures that you can find! I wish I could go thrift shopping with you guys - looks like fun!
When we go again, can we look for antique jewelry and silver items? That is my passion! I will one day be that lady when my daughter gets rid of all my handiwork projects. She is not into crafting. The jewelry and silver, though, will not make the shop!!!
You are lucky to have that thrift store close by! Low prices and lots of unfinished embroideries (and yarns). If I find nice yarn at the thrift store here, I buy it too, but I never found interesting UFOs. Maybe the 'lady' wasn't blind or dead, but she got bored ... Once I started such a printed-canvas-embroidery, I embroidered the nice little birds ... and then stopped. It was hidden in a drawer for decades until I rediscovered it. Then I tried finishing it, but the yarn wasn't with it and I could not buy the exact same colour anymore
If that was the case, she was young and got bored and then didn't finish it ... then she might still be alive and well and even watching your video! ;-)
thank you both for taking us on your thrift shop tour. Nice to get an insight in to what treasures to find in a Norwegian thrift shop. I loved the spinning wheel. I have a Norwegian wheel that was made here in Christchurch, NZ. I'm a self confessed wool hoarding spinner! Loved watching Arne in the thrift shopping mode, hunting for a bargain!
That was fun. Carlos u r getting brave checking out the thrift stop. Arne was in his element. Very interesting projects u found. Look forward to seeing how they turn out Till nxt time. 👌👌🥳🥳❤️👋👋👋👋
I'm watching this video for the second time! I know that look of glee you have on your face Carlos, when you reveal the needlework piece. I get that same feeling! But I have so many projects that I've banned myself from thrift stores! I create totes and bags and What I've done with partially completed cotton pieces with stamped embroidery is use the piece in the front of the bag as a focal piece, along with doilies, etc. the buyer can complete the embroidery or keep it as it is, because it's beautiful just as it is. Love your videos Carlos and Arne, and watching them makes me feel close to my grandmother as her parents immigrated from Norway and she did all the crafts you two do. 😀
Imagine if these women or crafters took a Finish It class from Arne😊! Would there still be surprise🎉 , shock😮 , and horror 👻 suitcases ? Thanks for sharing your original stitch backgrounds and ideas for repurposing crafts. Beautiful works!
Oh I love this episode - made me laugh so much. It also stopped me feeling very guilty about my yarn/fabric stash & also the growing number of UFOs I have . Thanks again guys for another entertaining episode x
Hello! I love to thrift shop, too, and this was a wonderful glimpse of your “other hobby!” I’m also a knitter and former quilter, so it’s always fun to hear you two talk about what you’ve been doing! Thank you for sharing!
That was fun. What an interesting store. I would love to have a look around in it. Arne, I hope your elbow improves soon. Are you also exercising your back? It seems a little bit rounded. Very often problems in the arms come from bad posture in the back or neck. But you are just so bursting with creativity, that it might be difficult to do less with your arms and hands. All the best.
Love “Thrift Shopping with Arne and Carlos” ! Many more please!
Thank you for taking us along with you on your thrift store visit. I love the idea of Arne "saving" unfinished projects and giving them a new life. Wherever the lady/ladies is/are who started them, I'm sure she/they will be pleased!
I am just knitting up wool I obtained from freecycle in UK. a half made project that someone got fed up of.. Lovely Aran sweater being resurrected....
What an interesting thrift shop I love it
I love the way Arne modernizes these old needlepoint canvases and gives them new life. I’d love to see a whole episode where he shows us how he design and picks the colors and background pattern to work with the original motif.
So beautiful and original. I love it!
Im so proud of Arne finishing the projects he buys, As a lot of people just collect and never finish.
It's good to see projects being finished, and sometimes in unexpected ways. The question I have is, does Arne finish all the projects, or is he slowing building up a stash of projects others have started.
That thrift store looks like yet another excuse for a trip to Norway!
My thoughts exactly!!
I’m already dreaming of my future visit to Norway! I hope it’s soon!
Yes that would be lovely.
This episode was like a Nancy Drew novel: The Mystery of the Unfinished Embroidery Projects! 😅 Hope you have a good trip in America. ❤❤❤
Loved that visit to the thrift store! How well maintained and organized the shop is; that demands a huge commitment.

Both of you have such multifaceted talents. Well done today. Thank you for the glimpse into the village. You are appreciated!
So fascinating to see the inside of a thrift shop in another country. Thank you
It’s a mystery story and scavenger hunt all in one. We are intrigued and can’t wait to see the next installment. ❤
I love thrifting, too! There’s just something special about giving an object a second chance.
Arne’s finished embroidery is outstanding!! Just beautiful.

Another great podcast. Loved the thrift store. Arne, that is so good of you to finish the projects. They look beautiful. You are so talented.
Please show more of these videos in the different towns you visit. So interesting. Arne, you paid so little for such lovely UFO's. Well done.
It’s so sweet you’re finishing these projects, Arne. Just think if that person knew you were doing this! They’d be so touched & honored.
We hope so.
OMG Arne.... I have little ( not so little) boxes and suitcases just like this... My socks are knitted from thrift shop wool finds... I can't leave stuff that someone has put their heart and soul into making.... I am there with you in that thrift shop... What a lovely place to pootle around.

Love that these treasures get finished & you put your own style on them Arne. Thanks
I love how Arne delights in finding treasures. Then he's creative in finishing leftover projects
Loved this trip to the thrift shop with you both. I love that Arne takes these unfinished projects and gives them new life with his own ideas to finish them. I look forward to seeing more of your trips to the thrift shops and what treasures you find.
You take those sad, unfinished embroideries and give them a new and happy life!
Thank you, enjoyed this one very much. Lots of giggles about mystery lady. 😄
Watching this whilst working on cross stitching I bought a year ago. I don’t know how Arne gets so much done. 👏🏻😻
Absolutely gorgeous all your thrift shopping cushions that you embroidered! Arne you are so clever truly amazing! Xx 💜
Arne & Carlos, it is so much fun to hang out with you two!!! Loved going to the thrift store with you, thanks for taking us along! Blessings 💕
I love, love, LOVE the pillows. They are little masterpieces.

Oh my what beautiful finds. I especially like the cats.
That is the cleanest thrift store Ive ever seen! I wish I was there!
I was shouting to you let me see the spinning wheel!!! Also thought I spotted a yarn swift?😂

Sit and Watch Arne & Carlos Thrift Shop! SAWACTS! Loved it !
Thank you both for the visit to your local thrift store.
Fantastic embroidery you are doing tothe half finished pieces. Take uswith you again
That was fun watching Arne.

You are welcome Valerie!
That’s a really nice thrift shop
I’m so impressed with the way Arne has updated the background on the traditional
needlepoint patterns.
The pre-made floral needlepoint square canvases were meant to
choose a background colour of your choice to match your decor and finish it for chair seat covers
Making them as cushions is brilliant !
Love the video and take care 🇨🇦❤️🍁
My mom used to take me to thrift stores and rummage/garage/yard sales, and I have always loved going. It is so lovely to see the variety of treasures that you can find! I wish I could go thrift shopping with you guys - looks like fun!
I love all the works that Arne did! Remember I want to go with you to a thrift shop!
Oh I loved the thrift store trip. I do that a lot also. Arne finishes them so nicely. Thanks for taking us along.😊

That has to be the tidiest charity shop ever! No wonder you visit as often as you can. Happy thrifting. xx
I can't get my own projects finished, much less finishing someone else's. This is admirable!
Yes please many more! This was so nice. Just an FYI Arne, Dolly Pardon was just honored into the Hall of Fame last night....totally deserving.
❤️
Love to watch you thrift shop!
Wow that first landscape canvas Arne showed is spectacular! What a great find.
thank you both for taking us on your thrift shop tour.
I love the way you finish off those projects Arne and that’s a really nice Thrift shop .
That was fun. Carlos u r getting brave checking out the thrift stop. Arne was in his element. Very interesting projects u found. Look forward to seeing how they turn out Till nxt time. 👌👌🥳🥳❤️👋👋👋👋
That was fun. I went shopping and came home with all my money
Thanks for finishing up projects left undone - a great way to repurpose. Enjoyed your shopping.
I'm watching this video for the second time! I know that look of glee you have on your face Carlos, when you reveal the needlework piece. I get that same feeling! But I have so many projects that I've banned myself from thrift stores!

Oh I love this episode - made me laugh so much. It also stopped me feeling very guilty about my yarn/fabric stash & also the growing number of UFOs I have . Thanks again guys for another entertaining episode x
That is one of the most beautiful thrift shops I have ever seen!
