  • Why Saruman Turned Evil?
In this video, we explore the tragic transformation of Saruman, the once-respected leader of the Istari and head of the White Council. Discover how jealousy, ambition, and the lure of power led him down a dark path and explain why Saruman turned evil.
Section 1: The Beginnings of Corruption
Saruman starts as a wise and powerful wizard, respected by all. However, his jealousy of Gandalf and dismissive attitude towards the threat of Sauron set the stage for his eventual corruption, providing insights into why Saruman turned evil.
    Section 2: Isolation in Orthanc
Saruman isolates himself in Orthanc, becoming obsessed with the Palantír. Believing he can control the One Ring, he succumbs to Sauron's influence, distancing himself from his allies and original mission. This section highlights why Saruman turned evil through his increasing isolation and ambition.
    Section 3: Betrayal of Allies
Saruman's transformation into a villain becomes clear as he breeds an army of Uruk-hai and devastates Fangorn Forest. His manipulation of King Théoden through Gríma Wormtongue weakens Rohan, showcasing his betrayal of Middle-earth and further explaining why Saruman turned evil.
Section 4: The Big Reveal - Full Descent into Evil
Saruman's evil culminates in his all-out assault on Helm's Deep and the devastation wrought by the Ents on Isengard. His commitment to power and ultimate confrontation with Gandalf mark his complete fall from grace. This final section reveals why Saruman turned evil and the consequences of his choices.
Join us as we delve into the reasons behind why Saruman turned evil and the impact of his decisions on Middle-earth.

Saruman was arrogant to begin with and didn't want to travel to Middle Earth with Radagast as he was directed to do. Saruman was emissary of the smith god while Radagast was sent by Yavanna the earth queen (specifically growing things). Saruman represents technology which Tolkien was suspicious of, especially over reliance on it. Palantir is television, by the way. You'll go blind and your dick will shrink if you watch too much. The first generation of TVs were small with quite rounded screens that were actually vacuum tubes. Tolkien is pretty simple, often. Just warning us not to be obsessed with technology. Magic is a form of tech and that's why it was never all important in LOTR.

Nice approach to the topic, thanks for sharing this with with us! I especially liked that you gave us a summary in your video description.
    - Liked an subscribed.
I've got to confess though, that your _strong_ American accent of the proper names gave me a hard time to follow it. "Saruman" is not "Serman". It's three syllables, Sa-ru-man. The "a" are pronounced as in "father", not as in "gather". The "r" needs to be trilled like in Germanic languages. The "u" is to spoken like in "brute". The emphasis lies on the first syllable.
"Sauron" isn't "Seon", but "Sau-ron", the "au" is pronounced as in "mouse" and the stress is on the first syllable.
    - See Appendix E to LotR.
My intension is not to be nitpicking, but maybe some other Tolkien nerds feel distracted by this. More accurate pronunciations would make your valuable thoughts more accessible, I suppose.

Hey, thank you for the subscription. I appreciate the advice.
I understand that incorrect pronunciation can be distracting and hamper the experience. That's something we'll try and be better at in the future.
Once again, thank you for the subscription. I appreciate it.

It is AI generated voice I believe based on the spacing of the words. Not 100% sure (these AI bots are getting advanced tbh) but it sounds like it to me. I’d have to run it through a few times to be sure but it’s quite likely. It is possible it’s just his speech pattern though as well.

Lots of factual errors in this video that are fundamental to Tolkien.
