- In this video, I am in Spain on the Ebro River, chasing the mighty wels catfish with Ebro Total Fishing. I get to watch as some lucky guys reel in a truly gigantic fish.

This is an awesome video for me as a European. I was at the Ebro multiple times and I have much love for it. It was funny to see the proximus logos on the back of these guys shirts. I instantly knew these guys must be Belgians. Congrats to everyone!!!

@@TyPigPatrol Any plans to target the Carp? I know there are some absolute monsters in the Ebro. Loads in the 35-45lbs size. 83lbs is the current carp record for the Ebro.
One guy caught that 83 and a 70 in the same session. There is also good sized Barbel in the faster narrower gravel bottom parts of the river too. You catch them on the same methods used for Carp on this river.
Imagine living there and having this out your back door!! WOW! The stories you would have!!

Sounded to me like the guy called the length at "two metre five", which would be 6ft 9in.
It's an enormous catfish, but it doesn't look over 8ft to me...
If you want big, there aren't many species that get close to wels. But the Ebro is industrialised fishing on a canalised waterway.
I love the wildness of South America.
I have to agree, that wasn’t 8 feet long but still about 5 feet longer than anything I’ve ever caught 😂

My father liked fishing very much, and he went to the Gambia several times, the mouth of The Gambia river harbours some very large fish, like Barracuda and Stingray.

What I appreciate man, is that you posted the video of someone else's massive success... it must have been hard to watch them catch "your fish", so to speak... I've seen Wels cats caught before and I can only hope one day I have the chance to do so myself as well!

Over 8’ long! Wow! TY I would say Guyana for more Aerapima ( sp ? )! Last video I saw of another trip with Spencer and he got in the water! All you have to do is dangle something tasty and Spencer will go for it! lol 😂

Spain!!! I might be a little baised since we were going to retire there before my wife became to ill to travel and our children put there feet down as said Spain is to far away from them. Which is one of the reasons for going there. LOL. Take care and stay safe.

What a beast of a catfish, you couldn't tell how truly massive it was until both those guys held it up. My vote goes for sturgeon fishing in the Pacific Northwest , if that's not an option then Guyana
He has already done that. Got hooked into a huge one. He must have the video somewhere. He was only about 40 miles from where I live.

@@Doc_Holiday I want to see him pull in a giant Halibut, and some of the monster salmon in Alaska. As well as some stream and river fishing way out in the wilderness...
These fish don't put up the fight those big sturgeon will pull your ass in on the Columbia , plus the current is sick, I still say a trip to Spain for these guys is on the bucket list

If you go after Wels again, I say head to France and get them in a kayak on top water. As for something else, what about almost getting pulled in by Goliath grouper, or maybe giant bluefin tuna?
I have to say my favorite of your fish was the Golden Dorado. Such a vicious and cool predator. Whatever you catch it'll be great.
already done the tuna, and spent a ton of money to just lose one fish. Got a few big goliaths, one over 400! already got a trip booked to catch the giant golden dorado in 2025!

The Ebro didnt have Catfish in originally...A man released 50 small ones in there in 1971...
Now the whole river system has huge fish all the way along...
Id say a 400 pound Catfish is well on the cards in the next decade... Especially with the amount of high protein bait going in, on top of the good natural head of other fish species in there...
Big cat like that one could eat a 20lb carp no worries.

Ty fishing in Spain for a Wels catfish. Their size used to be limited by the cold water they were limited to. Since they were transferred to warm water their size exploded.
Lake superior trout and salmon, You'll Love it.
Next time in spain you can try Ebro u Vydry or Roman Ebro Kuřil They are better for active styles of fishing for catfish zander and bass.

A passing thought... there's the Common Skate caught offshore in Ireland, Scotland and Norway that's a single species challenge not that well known about internationally. Once hooked, it's a serious effort to get them off the bottom. Current record 9 foot 4 inches and 249 lbs in weight. Unfortunately, the environment of the Scottish Minch and Norwegian Fiords is the opposite to Guyana and Spain, cold and windy. Second thoughts... Guyana or sea-fishing in the Gambia, with loads of big weird aggressive fish and warm weather, is surely a safer bet for fun, variety and our entertainment.

I swear I've seen one as big or actually bigger in an old farm pond in Snelling CA. My 17 ft bass boat drifted right over it sunning in the shallows. Has to be 7 to 10 ft long. Most insane thing ive ever seen fishing.

@TyPigPatrol na to be fair ..pellets live bait lures. Depends if you're river fishing or lake. Most of Europe have massive cats.even in the UK there getting bigger now(lakes) I moved to Spain a few months ago from the UK..ebro baby lol

Didn't Wels Catfish get super large in the Middle Ages,like 12 to 15 feet, or is that just legend.
They are speaking Dutch and said it was 2 meters and 5 cm. That is just under 7 foot. Still big though!
