- Yantras are ancient graphical representations of the divine, rooted in prehistoric times and found across many cultures. In classical Sanskrit, the word, yantra, means “instrument,” or a “device”, And it can be approached differently, Yantra is derived from the root word, yam, meaning “to hold” or “to sustain the essence of an object or concept in our minds.” So Yantras are not superstitions; Yantra is a tool for our spiritual advancement. It is a sacred instrument for invoking divine energy and it works by sustaining our minds, our focus, on that truth. We will delve deeper into understanding how it operates, later in this video.
Yantras trace back to the Vedic period in India (c. 1500-500 BCE), originating in India over 5,000 years ago. The Vedas, the sacred texts of Hinduism, were the first book to mention them. Yantras were initially used as a tool for ritual worship and later became associated with a mystical diagram and magical spell. The use of yantras spread throughout Asia and eventually to the West. In the 20th century, they became popular among new-age spiritual seekers and hippies. Today, people of all faiths and backgrounds use yantras to connect with the universal divine energy.
Yantras are utilised in various forms: painted on temple walls, engraved on copper plates, or written on paper squares within amulets. Each yantra serves a specific purpose and holds significance in spiritual practices like those of the Aghoris, a sect of sadhus. The study of the Yantras, and meditation on them is in fact an important footstep in the particular spiritual path of the Aghoris.
In essence, as Devi Bhagwat Purana reveals, 'Archabhave Tatha Yantram' means yantra is a symbol of divine power and hence, it is worshipped as a deity.
Yantras From The Macrocosmic Lens.
We can understand Yantras on two levels, on the microcosm and on the macrocosm. On the subtle level and the gross level. First, let's understand it on the level of the Macrocosm.

Vedic period is not 1500 BC - 500 BC. It is unfortunate that you have used the false timeline propagated by Western Indologists whose intent is to disparage the achievements and chronology of ancient India. The recent excavations at Rakhigarhi and astronomical references mentioned in the Vedas make them easily pre-date 7000 BC. Some scholars like Nilesh Oak put forward an even more ancient timeline. Please correct such blatant errors.

I've been drawing sacred geometry for 10 years now. Y far which I was aware before starting. The Srii Yantra was by far the hardest pattern I have drawn. Hundreds of tries before finally creating one. I've seen first hand the power of the Sri Yantra.

Well, I thought the spirit attachment being the cause of addiction is interesting.. a few people of other traditions, Christians, Muslim, have talked with me (a Buddhist) about this ghost/spirit theory, which spans across cultures.
The part of this video that grinds my gears is that when they talk about nondualism, they mention Zen, but show Losang Drakpa, Tsongkhapa, the founder of the Tibetan Geluk-pa school..
And they neglect to mention Dzogchen (The Great Perfection) Tibetan tradition..and Mahamudra, an Indo-Tibetan tradition.. also nondual.
I just don't like when things are misrepresented.. Zen and Vajrayana (Tibetan) practices can be quite different.

Thanks for this video. It answered some questions I had about a vision I got in mediation. It was 2 snakes with dragon heads made of light.
The 2 dragon/ snakes were separated by a bolt of lightning that made no sound. Then, the formed a 🔱 followed by a bunch of triangles.
No clue what it means but I feel lucky. It seems like a gift or blessing so I am not complaining. I follow a Western Left Hand Path tradition that uses blasphemy to transform into a god.

It's about transcending taboos or understanding the roles and limitations of Social Constructions. Not arrogantly, but I smile at people in the West that adopt Neo-Tantra and focus on Eastern rituals concerning their taboos, or go to sexual retreats. Like the point in the West would be that if you are a really invested in being a Cis/Het binary person, your ritual would be to engage in a queer sexual practice to overcome your egoic identities.

@@Lotus-ng7xs Swami Satyananada established a special Sanyas for householders He called it Karma Sanyas Before we met, my Husband took Full Sanyas at the Ashram in Monghyr, Bihar, where he lived with Swamiji for 13 months. We met at the Satyananda Yoga Clinic when he returned to Australia . We both taught yoga there. Our oldest daughter Sattwa was born in the Yoga Clinic to a full Kirtan. She is an itnitiated Hare Krishna Devotee now. Our Youngest, Yantra, was born at home with the director of the Yoga Clinic and a midwife to a full kirtan in the next room. Swamiji named both of our daughters. We were so blessed. You don't have to be Brahmachari to live a spiritual life. We visited Bhaktivedanta Manor ISKCON and were delighted to find they taught Yoga from Satyananada's Asana Prana Mudra Banda. Their Kirtan is wonderful.

No. Platonic solids are Tantric yantras. One of the earliest evidence of yantras can be found in Rakhigarhi, Bhirrana horse chariots and so on dates around 3000-5000 BCE atleast
