Since channel "Beer Bicep" I am watching him. He reminds me of someone, but He did his job in far more difficult situation/time, but more people knew "Shastras" then. Now India is Independent so "Rajarshi" is doing his part of the divine job. Please do not compare or mention any name, every spare part has it's own duty and they are unique.

I'm western and interested in Indian culture and religion. I'm used to read and watch many different authors and comentarists. Although I can't understand everything Mr Rajarshi Nandy explains, I can see that his profound knowledge and clarity is a great lighthouse showing the right path to the real Indian traditions.

I've watched Rajarshi Nandy on so many channels and every time I get to learn something new. The number of people who would've returned to their puja paddhati just by watching him would be huge.
The devotee reaching out to the deity is sadhana.. But in one of kavacham I chant for a particular deity, there comes a line where it says I as the devotee got initiated to worship the deity purely because of the deity's grace. Which is true and I have experienced it. It was like the deity reaching to me through my intuition to learn that particular kavacham. And that Grace I received because of my parents prayers I believe.
Everytime I watch Rajarshi ji, I get a new perspective of Dharma and my respect for Tantric Philosophy increases. My personal views on Pashubali are a bit skeptical before this. But now, I'm more comfortable that bali also has a meaning to it and how it is done. You can't sacrifice anything out of your whims and fancies ; for e.g : humans etc, if it is not mentioned as an injunction ! If you want desired results from the Yajna ; you have to follow the rules and regulations as per the Vedas.

I am from a small village of Odisha , in our area there is 16 night puja (sola-puja, sola means 16) before the Vijaya dasami. In starting night of the of sola-puja there will be Pasu Bali (specifically a matured male goat) at the middle of the village at the mid night nearly about 1:00 AM .And Maa Durga will stay in the King's palace in the village. From that night to till Vijaya Dasami Chandi paatha will happen every night in the King's Palace . And after Vijaya Dasami (end night ) Maa Durga will go to the temple .
I use too go with my grand mother for listening puranas .I have heard from her so many stories in summer vacations now I can make connections through these pod cast .I am very thankful for this podcast it got me thinking even more…Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Hi. Wonderful question. Rajarshi da has done a video on this. Pray "Om bhairavaya namah", start with 1 mala a day and stay steady and go on for a year. Do once every 24 hours. Do not waver in your intent. Bhairava baba will show you the way. Do not be deterred by lack of results, stay steady for a few years at least.
This was an absolutely riveting conversation. I am making a trip to India in December and am planning to buy more books than sarees. What shastras do I begin with and where do I get it? Also will get a copy of the gentleman's book.

Excellent talk. Although that part of vegetarianism is intriguing ....but should be provided a context (sometimes hard to cover everything). While Hindus may not have been traditionally vegetarians, generally there are more vegetarians that are hindu than any other system, because of an understanding of meat and flesh food on the minds and bodies of the one who consumes. As a result, we have also been very creative in using vegetables and fruits. Even today only Indian cuisine provides on the longest menu on the vegetarian section. And we know how nutritive value should not be compromised, while preferring vegetable based cuisine. As always a very informative talk.
I loved this episode and am thankful I came across this. 😊 I believed that if Bali was allowed in the Vedic rituals this would definitely have a good bearing on the soul of the animal being sacrificed and it happens to be true per Rajarshi Sir. One thing that came to mind during this discussion was that, if like sir predicts that Bali will come into the forefront once again (perhaps when the goddess will awaken her presence), then I feel such practices need to be allowed only in places where Vedic rituals are followed. This is only to prevent idiots from taking things into their own hands. For e.g. if a person does not like their neighbour, and said neighbour has a dog they dote on, first person kills dog and says 'oh, I only followed my religion '. NO! I really really hope there is no liberty taken by people in this matter. Perhaps similar measures must be taken across all religions that allow such practices - to conduct in some places only.. Being a pet parent I worry for their safety constantly- my karmic children.

The debate for and against pashu bali is seen even in the Mahabharat. King Shantanu was an expert hunter but pashubali would not happen in his reign. Again , in the episode of Jarasandh's death , Krishna clearly states that there had never been a sacrifice of humans before , hence the anusthana of sacrifice of 100 kings envisioned by Jarasandh for Shiva . Again there is a debate on this between the gods and the Chitrashikhandi group of rishis . What can be inferred is that , pashubali itself is valid to the extent doesn't rise to the level of sattvika and that must happen naturally. Artificial prohibitions might backfire in long term .
Sringeri 34th paramachrya Sri Chandrashekar Bharathi swamiji has said that you can recite Lalita Sahasranama without nishkama puja and without initiation. Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi says the same...
Thats why studying from a genuine Guru is important. Shashtras are contrary because we haven't studied it. Once you know what you want in general Bhakti, Jnana or Ashtanga Yoga. You go to that Guru and learn from him. As said 'Truth is one sages call him by many names'. There are lot of ways to approach that infinite.

A better way to explain the Devas (dieties) and their hierarchy (level) and role is to first state that these Devas represent forces of nature (or types). The bigger the force or more complex the type, the higher the level of Devas. And the Devas represent Shakti of Ishwara (Shiva, the ParamAtma)!
For the point of a Guru not knowing the Shastras... I feel Shastras comes out of the Gurus or those who have realised and experienced the reality as it is, and not the other way around. Those who haven't experienced the truth may feel like it's not possible without the Shastras, but for those who have experienced the truth, are one with it, and when they stay back in the human form, their words become the Shastras 🙏🏼

Shastras at places give contradictory beliefs or multiple codes of beliefs for same thought
Thats why studying from a genuine Guru is important. Shashtras are contrary because we haven't studied it. Once you know what you want in general Bhakti, Jnana or Ashtanga Yoga. You go to that Guru and learn from him. As said 'Truth is one sages call him by many names'. There are lot of ways to approach that infinite.

A better way to explain the Devas (dieties) and their hierarchy (level) and role is to first state that these Devas represent forces of nature (or types). The bigger the force or more complex the type, the higher the level of Devas. And the Devas represent Shakti of Ishwara (Shiva, the ParamAtma)!

For the point of a Guru not knowing the Shastras... I feel Shastras comes out of the Gurus or those who have realised and experienced the reality as it is, and not the other way around. Those who haven't experienced the truth may feel like it's not possible without the Shastras, but for those who have experienced the truth, are one with it, and when they stay back in the human form, their words become the Shastras 🙏🏼
