- Christian Bauer is a sabre coach/mercenary from France. His students have won many medals. This video takes a quick look at the medals won under his coaching.

He's like what Stefano Cerioni is to Foil. A highly decorated coach who has trained multiple fencers to win World cups, Euro Champs, World champs and Olympics. Plus like Bauer, Cerioni has coached for different countries too. First he coached his home nation Italy, then Russia after London 2012 and now he's a coach for USA.
Bauer meanwhile is an incredible coach. I can't believe he got sacked.
Wow! what are they thinking? He is too good to let go. I wish I had a million dollars to bring him in to coach me for a few seasons. Where do you think he will go now?
No idea. I know he almost went back to China in 2017. He's 67 though so I wouldn't be surprised if he retired.

I had the chance to join his team several days, in Paris, in the 90's. He is such a nice guy !!! I still don't understand why the French fencing Federation doesn't find the means to have him full time as Sabre coach ... !!!

That team was pretty stacked. Can't think of any other teams with three world champions.
