Amazing story brought tears 😢
Out of every single story that I have ever heard you tell, this is the one that hit me the hardest. I did not actually expect to tear up but here I am. Dave is a hero.
Absolutely. I got really choked up, I was so moved by his selfless act. Dave gave his life to save a stranger’s. Even though he is still alive, his life as he knew it is over. I am so grateful and happy Mr Ballen picked up this story, the donations are at $350k now which is such an amazing thing to see ❤
Same. I think it's because someone knowingly sacrificed his life to save someone else. And beauty like that hit our human hearts so much harder.
Tear-up is an understatement.
This is the only video I've cried at. Dave got the family he always wanted - sort of 3rd party but nonetheless 😍
I too have found my purpose in life and knows how he feels with his being skydiving. I even put it in my will "If I die do not cry for I have found nirvana on earth"

Sometimes I hate humanity, and I wanna give up on it. Social media and other outlets showcase some of the worst in people. But then there are people like Dave. Selfless human beings that remind me that humanity is good and that kindness matters. Moved me to tears Dave. I hope your life is still fulfilling in spite of what you selflessly gave to save another human being.
Firstly, I have to say thank you to Mr. Ballen, your generosity and kindness is immeasurable. I just saw the update on the go fund me page from Dave from yesterday… what an amazing human being. He makes me proud to say I share his species. His sense of humor and positivity is something so special… he’s getting a new and even better wheelchair, and he’s so excited for it, it was just ordered and he got to pick the colors, so he picked red, and the parts he couldn’t pick are black. It has a more comfortable gel seat, which should be easier since he has an air seat that they aren’t ever quite sure how much to fill, and he thinks the colors will be better in the heat, since he older chair is dark blue and black and just soak up alllll the heat.
He is genuinely such an inspiration, and I needed this story today. I’ve been feeling sorry for myself lately, and this out things into a much needed perspective….
My phone might die so I wanted to post at least that part in case it does before I finish this… the fact he was willing to give his life to a woman he barely knew, and survived, and despite it all he is still so incredibly upbeat and still trying to make those around him laugh, and smile, it’s something awe inspiring. Dave if you see this, thank you. I always tell myself “ok I’ve had a hard ten years, but I have my health”, but I’ll be honest, lately that hasn’t helped me much with my mindset. Hearing your story today and seeing your update from yesterday on the go fund me seemed so serendipitous, and you helped me see things in a new light. I’m going to donate as soon as I’m able, single mom life with back to school season sapped my wallet lol, but what your story and heroism gave me is priceless. It gave me motivation and inspiration and the ability to realize I’m standing in my own way, and we are all lucky to just be here on this rock… strength and love to dave and his family, and thanks to Mr. Ballen for another amazing story. I hope your new wheelchair absolutely kicks some butt, as well as provides the most comfortable seat ever :)

Then he went on to tell me in his very kind and gentle way, "Kiddo, pain effects us all differently. But your pain is no better or worse than mine. It's pain and it hurts." I try to take that into consideration in all aspects of my life now. Because everyone handles things differently. so many things in our lives may be harder or not hard for them than they were for us. that doesn't mean we shouldn't care. He passed away 2 years ago from medical complications. And as much as i miss my dear friend, I'm almost happy he did. because he is now in a place where is no longer in pain and is no longer suffering.
Ballen. You are an amazing man. Thank you for everything you do for this world.
Ive had a pretty dark life and its made me a very cynical person thats unable to trust anyone or let anyone in.
When i see your videos and the things you do to help people, it truly reminds me there are good people still in this world. You’re the one person i know that really cares about others and doesn’t base every relationship they have off of what they can gain from that person lol. It really moves me to no end seeing you trying to help people like this so thank you for everything you do.
A true hero. In every sense of the word. Very very few people like him exist.
This story out of all I’ve heard, was a rollercoaster of emotion. All of the Adrenalin, the fear, the bravery, the sacrifice. This is an amazing story! Shout out to Dave.
I just wanna take a moment to recognize the amazing man that is Dave. Bless than man. Bless him with all the love this world has to offer. As a father myself, I can safely say that he would've indeed been a great father... so selfless. 🙏 He has done something HUGE with his life as he always wanted. A true Hero!
I can't really think of anything you could do that would beat something like this. This would make for a great documentary or movie if it were done right. Something along the lines of "127 Hours"(172?) Either way I'm glad hes getting recognition.
Right very good point!
That reminds me of Jesus words:
No one has love greater than this, that someone should surrender his life in behalf of his friends. (John 15: 13) 🙏😌♥️
I'm not going to lie. I was reading the comments while watching and thought "why is everyone crying? We're used to tragedy on this channel". Well let me say, I AM BAWLING and went to donate (the video is not even done lol). This story made me reflect a lot about life, its fragility and its meaning. Thank you Dave
This was probably the saddest story I think I've heard. A true professional and hero. So glad they both made it. You had us at first.
I cried so hard watching this. The fact he was able to stay calm and mitigate so many problems that are normally incredibly rare just for a new one to happen, is wild. Then, that he a) still had the presence of mind to make a decision to save her--thinking he'd die and b) did so without reservation is amazing. Like people have already said--Dave is a hero.
i've never cried during any of these videos but this one hit hard. What an amazing human being Dave is.
Me neither! What a great man, and heroic act.
Same!!🥺
Yep
Same!! Dave is a real hero.
Sshhhh my eyes are just sweating!
Watched this a year ago and donated to David’s campaign. I receive regular updates on his fund when he posts to update us his progress which I received this morning. What a fantastic sense of humor this guy has despite everything he’s suffered and…..he’s still praising to story you did on him Mr.B! Thanks for what you did for this family!
I've seen many of Mr. Ballen's videos. This is the only one that got me choked up. I'm holding back tears very hard in the gym today. I'm thankful Dave's actions paid off. He is a living legend.
I cried so hard at the end he literally saved that lady with no regrets he’s a hero
I can't believe they both survived. They were definitely being looked after that day. Dave is amazing.
(Don't read comments before watching everything!)
Totally. God in His loving sovereignty let them smash into the ground instead of making the parachute deploy properly. Props to God for being a true homie.
@@theunfriendlyllama8596 where did that come from? No one mentioned god
@@theunfriendlyllama8596 he is your homie, he didn't take their lives away. You have proof he is good 👍
@@suhtangwong Lol you have an interesting definition of good.
My heart literally goes out to the both of them. What a hero! Thanks John for this heartfelt story. They're both so lucky to be alive.🙏❤️
Dave is a true hero. His story made me cry.
It's unbelievable that survival was even possible for either. Dave has love in his heart & soul. I wish him happiness.
Oh, man. I just checked the donations. Not only does Mr Ballen put his money where his heart is, so do his fans. Made me cry almost as hard as the story did. ❤️
Me too. After I donated I just sat and watched the donations roll in. I hope it keeps going. And yeah I'm just sitting here bawling.
Just donated myself while crying like a baby.
Awwwwwwwwwwww
I listen to Mr. Ballen when I drive. This is the first time I had to pull over to finish a story. I'm sitting here with tears on my face, just contributed to the gofundme, and the amount of donations rolling in - it's just amazing. I hope Dave receives everything he needs to live the rest of his life as well as possible. I too am lucky enough to have found a passion in life. The thought if never doing it again is heartbreaking. Dave is truely a hero.
@@brookekohlhofer3068 what's your passion, if you don't mind me asking?
It's so important in life 🤗
This is a great story, there are so few people who would do things in a situation like this where no one may even know the good deed we tried to do but we do it anyway. Keep donating to Dave, what a hero. Amazing
It was a honor to donate and leave an encouraging message to Dave.
What a selfless human being he is❤️
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13. God definitely saw this man’s selfless act and attempt at giving up his life for hers. I think he was spared for good cause; I pray this man finds an even greater joy and bliss, whether it be in this life or the next.
Amazing 🙏🏾
Such a beautiful story 💋
dang, dave should have cut one of the chutes
This story touched me so deeply I started to tear up… there are literally no words for how heroic, selfless Dave is. He deserves the world and more…❤
I found my self just staring at the Go fund me without being able too provide for such a hero...may God bless us all.
Dave’s pain and suffering sponsored by DraftKings. Ready for the big game??? Dave isn’t
Wow! This man is just an incredible human being. His selflessness for a woman whom he’d just met, speaks volumes about his character. AND, when you go to his go fund me page, he writes updates about his journey. He has a sense of humor, and a way of writing, that surely would make Mr. Ballen proud, but most importantly, his positive attitude and personality is so endearing and truly makes me want to be a better person, and restores my faith in humanity.
Thank you, Mr. John Ballen, for sharing this story. As with all your other stories, you paint the picture so vividly, it’s as if I’m actually there.
This was one that brought me to tears. While it’s absolutely tragic, and I wish it never happened, it was endearing and beautiful.
Blessings to both you and Dave.
🙏🏽🩷💫
Such a hero. Being a licensed skydiver you know decisions are made within a split second. Only had 1 cutaway but not much time for a reaction under pressure. What a man to make that decision with no hesitation.
And the reason he racked up so many jumps is it’s a bug you catch after your A license and then find yourself foaming at the mouth at the Dropzone every weekend.
I cried so hard at this one. Wow, the sacrifice he made for a stranger is beyond beautiful and heartwarming. I am so happy they both survived.
Truly an amazing heartwarming story… i definitely shed a tear on this one
Thank u 💓 for saying they both survived , before I watched the video!!
not me. i never cry from his videos. i find them extremely relaxing. i like hearing about his frog loogey
I cried like a baby as soon as you said that the parachute 🪂 & reserve tangled. I can not believe I have never heard this story before you told it on your channel. If Dave is reading the comments, I want to thank you for your service of taking care of so many first-time jumpers and sacrificing yourself in an attempt to save Shirly’s life! A real testament to the courage and personal strength when all else failed. All of the love and blessings to you & your sweet Mama, my friend.
Just curious do you skydive?
Are you emotionally stable?
@@IronPsyde Are you?
It's so great to see that such great souls still live on this earth - you are an inspiration Dave! I really hope you live the rest of your life happy, with enough support! Hope for a medical miracle someday sincerely!
This is the first story I've seen on this channel that made me cry. 😢 What a hero. ❤️
I think this is the first time I actually cried at a Mr Ballens video. Dave is a true hero.
Same here!
SAME. I thought people were being dramatic but man it actually got to me.
Ikr
Yep. I'm not a crying person, my son was worried, and my dog just petted me. I've never heard of anyone doing such a selfless act of love. So glad this story is shared.
second time for me, his 9/11 story got me
I started bawling at how beautiful this story was. The actions, the backstory, the people involved, and lastly, of course, the way it's told by Mr. Ballen.
I had to reapply my mascara too lol
I was thinking that's a bit dramatic, then she walked into see Dave and here I am crying.
I cried more than a girl at a Justin Bieber concert
Bawling like a BALLEN baby 😢 God bless Dave!! ❤🙏🏻 He was her Angel that day!
Me, too. I don’t usually cry at stories but seeing another person be so selfless really made me emotional, especially when we saw them meet again.
MrBallen got me tearing up like I was there. You are an amazing storyteller and Dave is a true hero!!
This story literally brought me to tears when Shirley visited Dave in the ICU & expressed her love for him, what an amazing & selfless choice he had made for Shirley, all he wanted at that moment was to save her life at the expense of his own,GOD BLESS YOU DAVID!!! You are a fine and amazing human being, and we should all take a moment to help others just as David did, that is what being a human being,to me,is all about...it's about helping others when they are faced with life altering choices
Not many humans can claim legend status like Dave. He wanted to do something big in his life, and he damn sure did... God bless him.
OH MY GOD. This really brought me to tears. How insanely unselfish. I was in an accident one time during the winter and as I lay there on the ground unable to feel my body, I thought I had been paralyzed and hoped that I would freeze to death before I was found. As someone who had been suffering from depression for a long time, the idea of being mentally, emotionally and now physically trapped was beyond my strength. For Dave to make that decision to save another.....I'm beyond words. Such an incredible human being!
you're strong like Dave too, life is precious
