I've always liked to play rogue, but just for fun in random bgs. I'm trying to *really* learn how to play it now, and your videos have been helping me immensely! I feel that most of the time I'm overwhelmed and confused by when to burst. Do you mainly cc the healer or do you kill the healer sometimes? Sorry if it's a stupid question lol Thanks a lot, man! Thanks for reacting man. There's nothing like stupid questions! Most of the time, healers are my cc target and I try to kill a DPS. I just think it's easier that way, because it's harder as a Subtlety Rogue to just 'tunnel' a healer and hope to zerg him down. We're not quite Warriors or DHs. However, in more structured environments like normal 3v3 or 2v2 (with voice chat), we sometimes call out for swaps on the healer with a Kidney Shot and full burst. If you play Assassination, I feel like sitting the healer is a good option. As Subtlety not so much, unless it's on a hard swap. Hope this is a clear answer to your question. Cool video, nice edits. I see that you manage to sap the healers a lot of times. How do you tell when you can do that while mid combat? Are you using it after some big cc?
Thanks a lot! I do try to sap after a big CC a lot of the time (fear, poly, blind, ...). Since the introduction of the new PvP trinket bonus (CC reduced by 10%), it's become pretty difficult to consistently sap people out of CC. I like to use blind to prolong CC and then sap after that. Since blind doesn't put people in combat, you can pull off some neat tricks with it. If you wanna know a little more of my thinking process, check my 'Advanced Rogue Tricks' video from Shadowlands. I dedicated a segment to the sap ability in that video. I generally 'feel' when I can sap or not, it's something I've grown accustomed to by playing rogue for a looooong time. Good luck!
what a beast, i love it, im trying to improve as rogue, and i realize that i stun the target i will burst, and i really have to stun the healer XD im assa by the way, so i dont have so many invis as you to cc... but i will transform mi race to night elf to have at least 1 invi more

I'd suggest you try Assassination. It's the most straightforward rogue spec. Try to get the hang of your rotation (applying bleeds, bursting with Death Mark, ...) and how to optimally use your kit (stuns, blind, sap, ...). If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out to me. Gl!

As soon as I get 4 set next week, I might try some new builds that don't rely on secret technique.
Chances to sap off a Kidney Shot is pretty much 0% now, cause our Kidney doesn't last 6 secs+ anymore. When you prolong the Kidney with Blind, you pray the healer sits the blind for a sec, maybe two, and that he'll drop combat in the process. So when he trinks, you'll be able to get a clean sap. In general, sapping from CC has become a lot harder to do consistently since this expansion. Don't beat yourself up if you can't land your saps, it's not as simple as it used to be!
Oh yeah, one thing I also like to try is the following: pay attention to your CC target. You see he hasn't cast/attacked for like 4-5+ seconds, you blind him. If the pressure is high, he might trinket it and enough time might've passed for him to leave combat and get sapped. Similar to what I did at 1:58 in the vid. Hope this helped!
Great question. I dislike that Subtlety's burst revolves around Cold Blood-Secret Technique windows. This COULD change with the tier set bonus, might try some new specs soon. Subtlety also excels at controlling opponents. The new trinket bonus makes it so everyone has 10-15% CC reduction. For that reason, the spec isn't as 'fluid' as it used to be. Still love the spec tho, wouldn't play anything else.
Is this the same secret tech/deepest stratagem build that people call the "one shot build"?? I so, I'll keep playing sub because if you're doing this well with that build I must just be bad
