From watching your vid on the EXT, I called Cascade since at 1 time had a discount if you bought a link. Cascade helped out even though the promotion was over. Both Cascade and EXT was awesome to work with! The E-Storia is being installed and I pick it up tomorrow. Super Stoked!
DVO was created by the man that founded Marzoochi USA. They have the knowledge. With all the deals in the industry, I just look for anything I want to try that is heavily discounted. End of summer early fall will bring a crap ton of deals. I converted my Zeb to coil with a Smashpot, feels way better.
DVO does not advise you put their coil on bikes like the Status. Because of the strut holding the shock on. Specialized bikes are notoriously not coil friendly. If you want to go coil on it, progressive spring only, and I haven’t tried many coil on it, so I’m not sure which one is best, more to come
A custom tuned dvo for the bike and your weight would be a more reasonable comparison since the float x is custome tune to the frame. This is more like a different shock comparison with tuned and stock shock. Well maybe not entirely since most shock is tune for an average weight to fit more rider. But would be cool to see you compare of a dvo tuned shock. And also a good chance to do a video on the difference of custom tune shock, shim tuning etc.
Tunes are like make up, enhance a good shock, I have wasted hundreds of dollars on a RockShox tune. And then bought clapped out ohlins, DVO, EXT shocks that rode like crazy good. Who’s the 🤡 here bro
There's a reason why some bike brand have custom tune shock for the frame, just like your ebike. Give it a try at DVO custom tuned, perhaps it will change your mind. DVO got very good support.
@@geno____34 I’d argue damper tunes are more for adjusting damping for a given spring rate, which is correlated with weight. E.g heavy rider and higher pressure = lower compression and higher rebound. I’m not a suspension engineer, but I am an engineer, and one of only a handful of riders that does their own suspension maintenance and custom tuning.
Did you have a pump with one of the two stage low leak heads or a check valve? I've found with mine that the volume of the bladder is so small that it seems like it's lost air but really it's because some of that air is filling up the pump when you attach it.
@@afrewer94 I, too found this and confirmed it by checking the pressure with my standard pump both right after filling the bladder back to recommended pressure, and after 3 weeks. It was always down by the same amount regardless of time. If the bladder leaked it would be lower with more time. That pressure drop at least in my case is just the air required to fill the pump hose up on connecting to the shock.

1st the thing comes up like molasses, thought it was broken first day it was so slow This summer it has been ok Cold weather (Oregon) 40 degree not that cold, it would loose connection every day sometimes mid ride. Every time a battery dies it losses connection which the the shifter button does allot ( expensive battery like $10) The pairing process is unreliable takes many tries If you drive with it the battery’s die both leaving you dropper post less Rather than get the 400 hate mail comments I just skip bad products And I can’t sell out like most RUclipsrs even if it keeps me poor The stack height is massive. I am running a Pivot Shuttle AM e-bike 50lbs and I'm probably 210lbs with gear. The Pivot DW-link design is not progressive and It came with a Fox 36 Factory with DSD Runt upfront (for more small bump and even better progressive top out)- Float X factory 185x55 trunnion; which I have to run at 240psi in Rocky/dry/loose sand/granite Arizona. Am I considered outside most air shocks operation zone also because of 210 lbs but looking to drop 20 more lbs in the next 14months? as I'm looking for a glued to the ground damping for traction as my Amish Pivot Mach 5.5 is DVO and setup poppy riding. Thoughts on Rear shocks as I have been watching all your videos.. The EXT Coil seems like it might be too complicated for me to get setup and $$$$. Cane Creeks combo air/coil looked interesting but people seem to be having the typical cane creek failed seals.
If you buy a EXT shock, the seller should set it up for you and your bike. You will get 2 coils for your weight range, so it will be ok to ride almost direct, you could probably play a little with the rebound to confirm, but that’s it. Well that’s how they do it in Europe anyway
@Christianroberts so I’m about 230 pounds with my gear on and a camera bag. Same problem as you. My Bikes are to linear. 240 is good pressure I’m like 280psi on float X, needs .6 token The best shock is the one you got drop the DVO piggy back pressure low and it will give you a more stable planted ride, you didn’t say it was coil or air or which one. Also drop the spring rate and add on full compression (the old DVO shocks with 3 position compression) the mid setting is the most damping you could ever ask for, just drop the spring rate to compensate Speed rebound up, sounds backwards but it will be more planted. Ext is hard to setup if you don’t know how it works. Tigon is more air than coil 😉 Sounds like you’re a coil guy I didn’t know I was for years of frustration on air shocks 😆. I had to get a new bike to fulfill that destiny. Rocky Mountain power play on the way.
Just bought an EXT E-Storia for my 23 Stumpjumper Evo. Their springs go to 800lbs. They will work with you to tune the shock for your bike, for your weight, for your riding style. All this is 3/4 the battle. Setting up the fine tuning is easy once you actually study what each setting is for vs listening to people on RUclips. Granted it's 1200.00 bucks but you won't get another custom tuned shock like it on the market.
