Thankfully we have movies like this that give us a glimpse into their world, albeit a stylized view.

Yes, just like its sister ship USS Tennessee. She bears a proud name. Named after the CSS Tennessee captured, rechristened USS Tennessee, and Captained by Tennesee Native US Admiral David Farragut, the first full admiral of the United States Navy. He considered secession treason and kept his oath to the United States at the expense of his friends. At Pearl Harbor, both the Battleship USS Tennessee and the destroyer USS Farragut survived the Japanese attack and shot down Japanese planes. Both USS Farragut and USS Tennessee survived World War 2 with honor and distinction. Like their namesakes, Damn the Torpedoes! Full speed ahead, and Go Vols!

DDG 99 also carries the name “Farragut”, and you can tell they do with pride. Best ship I’ve worked with, and they have clout.

One of my favorite movies and every squid during this erawould understand the concept of old school Navy vs New school Navy. This was a major transition of how the navy operated. The XO was right and prevented a Nuclear War but was wrong for instigating a Mutiny.

I still remember how I found this movie, and the music behind it was from an animation called Koopa Kollapse and it had the theme of this movie, and for a long time I could never find the source of the song, till one day while about to head out of my house with my family, I heard the speech, and the song start to play. I stopped in my tracks and looked to the t.v to see this movie playing.
