Brain fart alert 🚨 When I was describing the Asylum album cover, the the colour of the their lips is a throw back to the colours glowing behind their heads on the ‘78 solo albums, not the lips 😩 what a rookie mistake haha ! NO PROFESSIONALS WHERE USED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Original KISS Army kid from June '76. Ace Frehley rules! ⚡ Anyway, here's my Top 12 (or baker's dozen): 1. KISS ALIVE! 2. Dressed To Kill 3. Rock and Roll Over 4. KISS 5. Hotter Than Hell 6. Love Gun / ALIVE II (tie) 7. Dynasty 8. Destroyer 9. Creatures of The Night 10. Unmasked 11. The Elder 12. Lick it Up SOLO ALBUMS from '78: 1. ACE FREHLEY 🛸 (easily #1!) 2. PAUL STANLEY ⭐ 3. GENE SIMMONS 🦇 4. PETER CRISS 😼 Finally, just a comment in general: I am so sick of hearing this inane, knee jerk opinion about the "production" on the first two classic KISS albums being "the reason"... BS! I can understand someone saying it about "Hotter Than Hell" (but for me, it absolutely adds the LP's character and dark, evil sound!), but when it comes to the debut, I think you're all on crack! The LP sounds great! Especially as a debut album. Yes, of course the songs sound better on ALIVE!, but I personally feel that this album's sound, feel, speed and power is perfect! Each of the first 3 KISS albums are uniquely excellent in this way. What, do you all want them to sound the same? I love their own special qualities...and then having them all go to another level on KISS ALIVE! M ⚡ p.s. I don't care about anything after Lick It Up. That's some other stupid MTV band...not KISS. Asylum is a decent record for hair band. REVENGE is ridiculously overrated! To me, it's a one track album. "UNHOLY" is brilliant, but the rest of it is a who cares affair, with some songs (Domino, I Just Wanna, etc.) being cringe inducing. Saw them at a club show on that tour, with my soon to be wife. It was good. At least they didn't look like sequin'd drunken housewives, like they did in '85-'89.
Hi Darcy, another great show! Thank you. I'm 58 and when I was around 12/13 I had a couple of neighbours, a little older than I that went to the same school. Up to this point, the only music I listened to was on the radio, all those hits and some of the music my parents listened to, which was not really good. Of my other two school buddies one had a much older brother and that's were KISS comes in. We used to hang at this place on the week ends and listen to some of his brothers records. Things like Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Uriah Heep, Deep Purple and of course the magical KISS - Alive! was in the mix. This was all new and very strange to me but KISS somehow, maybe also because of the visual aspect, caught my ele and ear! The track that did it was 100 000 Years. I had never heard anything like this before and loved that track from the get-go, and KISS became there and then and would be for many years to come my absolute favourite band. I had no money whatsoever to buy music, so all I could do was buy cassettes and then painstakingly record the music we wanted, or from the records, other cassettes or the radio. When I eventually had some money, went out on a record hunt, looking for ALIVE! but with no luck. At the time the only album I found and had just been released was the Double Platinum, which caught caught my eye and still have and treasure to this day. I was a KISS fan for many years to come but each new school year I got to know different school buddies and went practically through all music generes known to man, but KISS always remained. In 1987 I moved from South Africa to Portugal and got to know some people who loved music and did a local radio show dedicated to the more extreme Rock and Metal sounds. Years later I had my Town radio show and started going to Metal concerts and Festivals and thus my love for extreme Metal started slowly, but now is where I am. Somehow KISS started to take a back seat and with all the shit that went on inside the KISS camp, I started drifting away from all the drama. Looking back now and having recently listened again to all the KISS records I own (Full discography) I had felt it for some years now, but KISS was only and remains relevant for me up until Animalize. After that they just don't do it for me anymore. Being unemployed for almost five years recently, I have started selling off a lot of my music collection and most of my KISS stuff. Having said all that these are the studio albums that matter to me: 1. KISS 2. Rock And Roll Over 3. Creatures Of The Night 4. Music From The Elder 5. Destroyer 6. Hotter Than Hell 7. Dynasty 8. Love Gun 9. Dressed To Kill 10. Animalize 11. Link It Up 12. Unmasked
Thank you for the fantastic comment, this will not be the only time I read it ! It still blows me away that the music we grew up with & still enjoy to this very day has brought us together ! Wishing you nothing but the best 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Ah man, Kiss is such a nostalgia trip for me, despite being a teenager still, this band was a big part of my childhood, more based on the image and personas rather than music albeit... my father was a HUGE Kiss fan, I remember him watching what I think was the Budokan 1977 show on bootleg DVD when I was about four or five. He actually saw the band twice, once it 1988 at Monsters of Rock in Schweinfurt, Germany. Second time was Springfield, Massachussets in 1996 or '97, whenever Powerman 5000 opened for 'em. This is a discography I have heard pretty much all of, however for the sake of time I'll stick to a top #10 for my opinions. #10 - Rock and Roll Over: These top #10 are all albums I can put on and enjoy throughout the full runtime, however for some reason this album isn't one I go back too a lot when thinking of Kiss. I Want You and Baby Driver are standout songs in the album though, true gems. #9 - Love Gun: Another one that many would rank higher but for some reason doesn't stick with me. Aside from the title track, I don't think too much about this album... songs like I Stole Your Love, Tomorrow and Tonight and Then She Kissed Me are favorites off the album. The production is a big issue for me if I had to pick something #8 - Animalize: a true hair metal album from Kiss, this is, dare I say, a Motley Crue level of "heavy" in the grand scheme of things. Into the Fire and Heaven's on Fire are favorites of mine. #7 - Dressed To Kill: Rock And Roll All Nite was my childhood and will never get old for me, Room Service is phenomenal, Two Timer is catchy, a great album. #6 - Hotter Than Hell: Got To Choose and especially Let Me Go, Rock N' Roll are killer, the former being a top #10 son in my opinion. #5 - Revenge: Thou Shalt Not, Unholy, and Domino?? The heaviest Kiss ever got, the vocals on this from Gene and Paul are great, the following tour was absolutely amazing (the Tokyo 1995 bootleg is amazing!). I truly love this album so much, and for me personally, God Gave Rock N' Roll To You II is an anthem at the level of a "We Will Rock You" or "Rocket Man". #4 - Lick It Up: The kickoff of the Hair Metal period, the title track, Exciter, And on the 8th Day, Not For Innocent. A true 10/10 album. #3 - Creatures Of The Night: Their most "Metal" album up until Revenge? Might be... War Machine, Saint and Sinner, Killer, I Love It Loud. Once again can't describe the love for this. #2 - Kiss: This is the epitome of 70's Rock in my opinion. A part of the holy trinity of debuts with Aerosmith and Boston's respective debuts. Let Me Know is one of my all time favorite songs, Cold Gin, Deuce, Black Diamond. That production, the guitar tones and vocals of the entire group throughout? Sheer perfection. #1 - Destroyer: Ultimately it may be the stereotypical pick, but this is one that doesn't get old for me. I can put this on and just imagine being in the 70's, the production is gigantic, everything feels big, the intro to the album sets the mood... the harmonizes riff to Detroit Rock City is one of the greatest intros of all time. King Of The Nightime World, Great Expectations, even Beth... I, love, this, album. As always this was my extremely long essay lol. Loves the video, been on a binge of your content lately, absolutely love your videos, you're relateable and your interaction with viewers / commenters is something I respect om another level! Keep it up, cheers

With such a diverse discography I think many folks have their odd favorite songs. Here is my top list of non-hit, deep tracks and hidden gems: - Strange ways (Hotter …) - Baby driver (Rock n Roll Over) - Do you love me (Destroyer) - Goodbye (Paul solo) - ‘I’, Only You, Odyssey (the Elder) For album ranking, it’s virtually impossible for me to differentiate between childhood magic vs true quality with Alive and Alive II. Those albums just give me goosebumps.
Great video. My list goes: 20: Carnival of Souls 19: Sonic Boom 18: Monster 17: Music From the Elder 16: Hot in the Shade 15: Animalize 14: Crazy Nights 13: Asylum 12: Unmasked 11: Dynasty 10: Dressed to Kill 9: Psycho Circus 8: Lick it Up 7: Hotter than Hell 6: Rock and Roll Over 5: Love Gun 4: Kiss 3: Creatures of the night 2: Revenge 1: Destroyer

Hey my friend! Great video. Really enjoyed the ranking. Nice pick at #1. For me, crazy nights and lick it up would be 1 and 2. I love 80s Kiss! I was born in 74 so when I got into hard rock and metal, I was already into the early 80s. Enjoy the vacation. Take care!🤘🏻
Got Destroyer in 78 as well and that was it I was in the Kiss army for life. First time I saw them was crazy nights tour with Ted Nugent opening. Not my favorite album by them but it was amazing. Great job on the video Darcy take care 🤘
Kiss is my fave band ever. It's hard to rank them but my top five are Love Gun, Destroyer, Rock and Roll Over, Asylum, and Lick it Up. Kiss Alive 2 is my fave live album ever!! I saw them live in the 80s on Asylum, Crazy nights , Hot in the Shade , and Revenge which was 90s.
Looking back I wish I would of made a better effort to see KISS live in the 80s. Love your Top 5 ! Thanks for sharing some thoughts on your favourite band 🤘 Cheers Mark
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I saw them in '85 on the Animalize Tour with Black 'N Blue and in '86 on the Asylum Tour with W.A.S.P. (then twice in '96, once each in '00, '19 and '21...the last two times FOC😎)
My very first 2 Kiss albums were "Alive!" and "The Originals". I was in the sixth grade, and got them from a friend. Oh man, how I WISH I still had "The Originals". A mint set now with all it's contents intact goes for a fortune!
Wow! Didn't expect your #1 to be Lick It Up. But it is also one of my most favorite albums from Kiss also. Creatures of the Night is my most favorite KISS album of all time. The real surprise for me is when you ranked Asylum over the Debut album. Personally it would be in the top 5 for me. But other then that I believe my rankings would be pretty similar to yours Darcy. I know doing a 20 album rankings is a task. Hats off to you for doing it. Can't wait to see your SCORPIONS rankings. They are in my top ten most favorite groups of all times. I truly love their 70's and 80's era so much. In my opinion they put out some of the greatest albums ever released back then. Great video Darcy take care brother.🙂🤘🍺
I have never followed this band , not sure why but never did. Although I was absolutely in love with the crazy nights record back in the 80’s. And it is my very first memory of playing a record. I wish I stilll had it but unfortunately I don’t. A very special record for me to this day, love the title track. Greet video Darcy! Stay crazy.👊🏻
Great video. Lots of info too. You've had a huge history with them that I didn't have so we differ on a few positions but I bet if we done top 10 songs we'd have a lot of similarities. Crazy Nights I rank a lot higher which is down to that album being the only one I have some nostalgia for. Dynasty is my number 1.
Well maybe we will do our favourite KISS songs video together, yes let’s make that happen ! Most of my UK friends would put Crazy Nights higher, seems that’s when they made a bigger splash over there ! Thanks as always mate 🍹 Back to the beach :))
Great video sir! Destroyer was the first real music album that I ever had. It probably has my favorite album cover of all time. That album has a lot of sentimental value to me. My top 5 would probably look something like, Destroyer Love Gun Kiss Creatures of the Night Animalyze
1. Kiss 2. Dressed to Kill 3. Love Gun 4. Hotter than Hell 5. Destroyer 6. Creatures of the Night 7. Rock and Roll Over 8. Lick It Up 9. Dynasty 10. Music from "The Elder" 11. Animalize 12. Asylum 13. Unmasked 14. Psycho Circus Kiss was my first band as well. "Alive II" was my first album in '77 (still a desert island LP for me). I was the biggest fan (like everyone else) for five yrs. There was some creep by bands like Cheap Trick, Heart, Queen, Aerosmith...but like you, ~1982 was when it all broke open with Sabbath, Ozzy, Maiden, Scorpions, etc. etc. etc. I had to call it a day though after "Asylum" (besides "Psycho Circus"). Keep up the great work!
I remember the day I bought Alive II from Woolco here in Canada (later bought out by Walmart), I was so damn excited to get home & play it ! I played it nonstop, I’m sure I drove my mom nuts lol. Awesome to hear we share some of those great memories 🤘 Cheers my friend
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I still have my original vinyl and it's probably no stretch to say that I've listened to that album more than any other.
The solo album pictures are so cool ! 20. Monster 19. Sonic boom boom 18. Physco circus 17. Carnavil of souls 16. Crazy nights 15. Revenge 14. Hot in the shade 13. Anamialize 12. The Elder 11. Unmasked 10. Asylum 9. Creatures of the night 8. Love gun 7. Destroyer 6. Kiss 5. Lick it up 4. Dressed to kill 3. Dynasty 2. Hotter than hell 1. Rock n roll over Solo albums.... Ace, Paul, Peter, and Gene Killers is a cool cover too...
I should’ve showed my cassette of Killers, I love that cover! I’ve always loved the purple KISS logo with the pink in the background & I think Gene looked cool with shorter hair lol. Thanks for watching & sharing your ranking 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Animalize is probably the most underrated 80’s album. All of the others are respectively rated accordingly. Nice list dude! Look similar as to where I’d place everything.
Awesome ranking Darcy 🤘. Such a tough task to complete. I got into Kiss through Creatures Of The Night. I remember buying the album based on the cover art. Still missing some of their albums. Now you're gonna make me spend more money 💰 🤣. Cheers 🍻!
Kiss were my very first hard rock band. I was in the sixth grade. Every kid loved Kiss. Of course, AC/DC became my favourite in 1982 and have been since, but Kiss were the introduction. I like most of their albums, but TBH, "Unmasked" and "The Elder" are on the bottom. But my top 5 are "Kiss", "Destroyer", "Revenge", "Lick It Up" and "Creatures of the Night". You're totally right on the makeup issue. But I think albums like "Sonic Boom" and "Monster" are pretty damn good. I only have Paul's and Ace's solo albums. I really didn't like the other two.
Wow, really enjoyed the ranking of - basically - my childhood introduction to music. And, we align more than I expected:) your two top could also be mine, I have to think about it, but just so consistent and good albums
Great Great Great! That's all I can say Darcy! You know what a huge KISS fan I am, I love other people's take on their albums and can't argue with your ranking! Lick it Up is the reason I'm into hard rock and metal!! Awesome job Darcy!🤘
Man, you're 100% right that no two rankings are the same - I absolutely love Monster, top 3 album for me! You're definitely right that they don't have any bad albums either, every single one has a number of great tracks. Nice video! 🤘🏻🔥⚡️
Great ranking and good to hear your thoughts on the albums Darcy. Like you say each album offers something of value on it. Kiss is a band I've not really listened to for years, my pal at school was a big fan and we used to listen to the albums quite a lot. Revenge, Psycho, s/t, creatures and asylum I remember liking the most. I also really like sonic boom, it flows well as an album and I managed to see them live on that tour, what a show they put on. Looking forward to the next ranking video.
Wrong wrong wrong lol, cool video buddy, Lick It Up is a great album, I absolutely love Carnival Of Souls aka as Kiss In Chains lol, but I enjoy all their albums though my favourite era would be 82-92, once again great ranking, Cheers
I enjoy these ranking videos. KISS is a weird band for me. I own some of the albums and the box set that came out in the early 2000s I think it was but have never felt compelled to go out and buy all their albums. I have to check out some of these ones that I haven’t heard in full.
Thanks Andrew 🤘 always glad to see you in the comments ! Not a band to go back to much these days but they do have some great albums ! Have fun checking out a few you don’t know :))
Another great ranking video! I completely agree about Bruce Kulick. Wonderful player and songwriter. He has a cool RUclips channel. Seems like a good dude too! 🤘🏻👊🏻
Great ranking video Darcy. Kiss is hit or miss for me. I only have three or four albums from them. Love Gun seems to be the one i always go for. I need to go back and give all the 80's stuff a chance again. Hope all is well in your world.
This was a great honest Kiss review. Youre a true fan like me when you have good to say about every album. Love your top 10 . Your #1 LIU, in my opinion, was the bands most important release in their catalogue. Taking off the makeup paved the way for the 80s and Mtv. A Million to One is my all time favorite non makeup song... Asylum is the bands most underrated Kiss album and you ranked it well. My top 5 are LIU, Creatures, LG, Dynasty and Revenge
Thanks very much! I like trying to make videos I’d want to watch myself, I love when people are passionate about the music they love. Thanks again 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Not a band I dive into often but I respect the contribution they have made to rock music 🤘my very first record I owned was Unmasked. I like certain songs from some albums but I find it hard to really like an entire album from them. Seen them live once and it was an awesome show. Great collection and ranking mate.
I’m glad you stopped by last night, I had a blast with those guys! Totally agree with you on the newer Saxon albums, especially the latest two. Cheers Thomas 🤘 Tty soon
It’s amazing for how many of us Kiss was the gateway to hardrock/metal. For me they were superheroes as a kid.. I think Gene was too busy acting for most part of the 80’s What’s wrong with disco anyways ;) Take care Darcy!
Excellent ranking video Darcy. My mate Sion was , and still is a mega kiss fan. I've picked up a few things over the years, and still have my original KISS Alive on vinyl. I have a copy of lick it up on vinyl, but just the disk, no cover. I was lucky enough to see them live without makeup, with mate who had 2 tickets, but needed a lift. Couldn't tell you which tour it was though. I've still got a copy of Heavens on fire, 7" single I bought when it came out, great track. I think My favourite solo album is the Paul one, Ace is second favourite. Did you pick up the best of compilation, Kiss Killers, came out in 1982 and has 4 new tracks on it that were awesome I'm a legend tonight, Down on your knees, Nowhere to run & Partners in Crime. It's my favourite Kiss cd, and I played it to death!!!!
I had the cassette for Killers sitting on my desk ready to show during the video, but time was starting to get away lol. I love those 4 tracks too, also loved the pink on the cover & the purple KISS logo. Thanks for the great comment 🤘 Cheers J-Mac
Dude! Great listen, I agree completely, lick it up, and creatures of the night are my favorites. Finally got to kiss. Looking fwd to sabbath. How about deep purple, and nazareth? Keep up the good work!
Great ranking man. It's tough for me because sometimes I'm in the mood for the original 70s albums and sometimes I'm in the mood for the glam era. What are your thoughts on the Unplugged album? That's always been one of my favorites from that mid 90s trend.
I love the Unplugged album, I should of talked about it & Killers was another one I had sitting on my desk ready to go ! My videos are never scripted, so I forget shit all the time lol. Thanks as always for hanging out with me 🤘 Cheers Shawn
Have seen kiss so many time saw this last tour saw the reunion tour and the first farewell tour also saw lick it up and heavens on fire, and asylum. Also saw the dynasty tour in 79 as well as seeing them in 1976 on the destroyer tour. The one cd I really can't stand from kiss is the elder
1.Kiss 2.(Music from) The elder 3.Hotter than hell 4.Asylum 5.Lick it up 6.Creatures of the night 7.Dressed to kill 8.Rock and roll over 9.Dynasty 10.Revenge 11.Unmasked 12.Animalize 13.Love gun 14 Sonic boom 15.Crazy nights 16.Carnival of souls 17.Destroyer 18.Hot in the shade 19.Monster 20.Psycho circus I love 1-15 and like 16-19. Only Psycho circus is terrible. Nice to see your list. Cool show!
Hi Darcy!!! cool list/ranking and fun listening to the stories and history you have with the band..... really enjoyed your ranking because it's really different to other i have seeing before. Back in the day i can't remember exactly when i discover the band, it has to be in the late 70's early 80's and for some reason, down here, there was a rivalry between Kiss and Queen?? then lose track of the band until the Crazy Nights era..... right now i only have Alive, Dynasty, Unplugged and Double Platinum, so as you can see i still have a lot of work to do! Cheers and be well
I listened most to Kiss when i was 15-20 years old now im 38. Kiss is not my go to band anymore but my ranking would be 1 Hotter Than Hell 2 Kiss 3 Ace Frehley 4 Creatures Of The Night 5 Rock And Roll Over 6 Love Gun 7 Lick It Up 8 Dressed To Kill 9 Destroyer 10 Revenge 11 Dynasty 12 The Elder 13 Animalize 14 Asylum 15 Paul Stanley 16 Carnival Of Souls 17 Unmasked 18 Psycho Circus 19 Sonic Boom 20 Monster 21 Gene Simmons 22 Peter Criss 23 Crazy Nights 24 Hot In The Shade
Creatures of the Night and Lick it up! Hell , yeah! Woooooooooooo The best! I love Gene's vocals....he has some great songs on these albums! Also, has a great birth day as well...
Thank you very much! Haha I haven’t seen one KISS ranking the same. Good to hear your a big fan of Destroyer & Creatures Of The Night. Thanks for watching 🤘Cheers from Canada
I like how each of the solo albums have their own color- Red (Gene Simmons) Purple (Paul Stanley) Green (Peter Criss) and Blue (Ace Frehley). Ace Frehley's is my favorite, I have Snowblind on my Spotify playlist.
Carnival of souls was boot legged I picked it up with what was supposed to be the original art and I bought that at a kiss convention I believe in 95 or 96
I must say I´m a little bit proud of myself as I made it through the whole 38 minutes, hehe... For some reason Kiss never klicked with me. I bought the "Crazy Nights" single when it came out and instandly hated it. Obviously not the best point to enter the Kiss realm, huh? I had to watch them in 2008 at the Graspop Metal Meeting, a three day festival in Belgium, Priest headlined on friday, Kiss on saturday and Maiden on sunday. Ok, here´s my Kiss ranking: 1. Music From The Elder ... that´s it, hahaha....
I appreciate you sticking it out my friend ! It’s crazy to think most of my favourite Metal comes from your country haha. Music From The Elder is not as bad as people make it out to be, nice choice for your #1 … wait your only choice 😂 Cheers Jürgen

Lick It Up was my first Kiss album I bought. I had Creatures Of The Night on tape before that and Lick It Up delivered. A Million To One is one of Paul Stanleys greatest vocal performances on a album. I agree Gene sounding mean on that album. Great list and love that you gave Creatures and Lick It Up well deserved love.
Great job Darcy. Really enjoyed it. Don’t think I’ve ever seen the debut so low but as you said all Kiss rankings are drastically different. RNRO only has two throwaway tracks imo and the debut has three so they would be my top two. Shit some of their albums have more throwaway tracks than keepers. Lol. Stay heavy Darcy!
Thank you very much ! There is virtually nothing separating some of those albums, a thin layer of makeup that’s about it lol. Thanks again Ronnie 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Hi Darcy! Awesome Ranking! I have almost the same history with KIϟϟ and that was very Kool you did a small Ranking of there Solo Albums. So glad to see you got the Creatures of the night 40th anniversary such a Awesome remastered. The Extra disc Gene does Its my life pretty killer version. I so hope they Release a Anniversary for Lick it up the same. Stay Heavy my friend and crank up some KIϟϟ🤘🤘🤘🤘 Looking forward to The Scorpions 🦂 ranking
Thanks for the kind words :)) I think we will see a Lick It Up 40th this year, they won’t miss a chance to celebrate a monumental album like that ! I’m kicking back on a little holiday & Scorpions are on the play list everyday haha. Thanks again for hanging out with me 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Hi Darcy! Thank you my friend 🤘 Hope you have and enjoy your holiday well deserved and blast some Scorpions definitely LoveDrive Hoilday a appropriate fit haha..Take good care and Stay Heavy 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Hi Darcy! I Really Enjoyed your ranking of Kiss. I definitely agree Creatures of the night and Lick it up some of the best and heavy kiss sounding records. Just watched the 1983 Creatures of the night footage in Brazil with Vinnie vincent man they were on another level. Kick ass for sure! Have you watched it before? Its a must see but not great footage. Love the channel and Stay heavy good brother
I may have seen that footage I don’t remember, I’m definitely going to watch it again ! Ty for the reminder, your bang on about on another level. Thanks for the kind words & plz stop by anytime your bored 🤣 Take care ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 very cool Darcy. Hope you enjoy it Kiss had that heavy sound during that time and that show is a great showcase for it. Most definitely good brother. Love ur channel amd always cool to chat with a good metal brother!
Kiss is my fav band. Alive is my Favorit Album of all time. Ace is the reason why i Play guitar. My top 5 Destroyer Revenge Sonic Boom Creatures of the night Hotter then hell Sonic Boom and Monster are pretty strong records f*** the Makeup issue these two records are awesome and the elder isnt that Bad
Ace is the reason so many picked up guitar, glad you did too ! Like I said no bad albums, including The Elder which has some great songs. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Love Singer & Thayer, I couldn’t imagine having Ace & Peter there now. It was a cluster over 20 years ago, and if you see the state Ace seems to be getting himself in now, no thanks. I guess people either fall one side or the other with the makeup. I’m in the camp of being very happy the way it is now. Would have made zero sense to bring new characters and makeup designs in the early 2000s. I mean, it bombed spectacularly the first time they did it. Outside of parts of the 1980 European tour, and the 1980 Aussie tour (where I am), they had zero success with new characters. Just my humble opinion.

@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Even though Paul and Gene sort of dismiss their 80's output, it doesn't change the fact that they made some of their best albums in the 80's, and even though I have an album like Hot in the Shade ranked kind of low, it still has some killer stuff on it.
1. Destroyer (1976) 2. Hotter Than Hell (1974) 3. KISS (1974) 4. Dressed to Kill (1975) 5. Rock and Roll Over (1976) 6. Creatures of The Night (1982) 7. Dynasty (1979) 8. Ace Frehley (1978) 9. For me, Destroyer would be number one with Lick it Up a close second. Started listening to them in the early 80s. Saw them live on the Crazy Nights tour. Only album I absolutely hated was Hot in the Shade. I really liked Dynasty and Unmasked as well. The Elder was ok. Doesn't deserve the hate it gets. Nothing against Thayer or Singer, but I think it's a bit offensive that they are wearing Ace and Peter's makeup instead of getting a design of their own.
That has always pissed me off, Eric & Tommy should’ve had their own make up! It wouldn’t have made any difference to average fan, and would have gained more respect with us long time fans. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
I totaly missed this video. I am suscribed to too many people and like that i just dont see all the posts of the people. I am going to unscribe to a lot and just keep the ones i really like. Anyway, cool Darcy, i am going to watch this video now.
Not a fan of the band, seen them once in 1988 with Anthrax in San Diego. I tried listening but it’s not what I like. I remember them from the mid 70’s. They got a few songs I like, that’s it, not even a shirt. Or patch. And I have tons of both from concerts. I gave thumbs up for their fans. At least it’s not bubble gum pop.
They are definitely not for everyone, but I will say they were a lot of peoples gateway band to heavier stuff! Thanks as always for hanging out with me 🤘 Cheers Wil
Revenge is seriously overrated. Mostly because it has Unholy on it and it was a return to heavy metal after all those horrible glam metal years in the 80s.
I couldn’t agree with you more! I love songs like Heart Of Chrome & Unholy, but there is also a lot of crap too lol. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada

Finally someone who likes music from the elder
Original KISS Army kid from June '76.
Ace Frehley rules! ⚡
Anyway, here's my Top 12 (or baker's dozen):
1. KISS ALIVE!
2. Dressed To Kill
3. Rock and Roll Over
4. KISS
5. Hotter Than Hell
6. Love Gun / ALIVE II (tie)
7. Dynasty
8. Destroyer
9. Creatures of The Night
10. Unmasked
11. The Elder
12. Lick it Up
SOLO ALBUMS from '78:
1. ACE FREHLEY 🛸 (easily #1!)
2. PAUL STANLEY ⭐
3. GENE SIMMONS 🦇
4. PETER CRISS 😼
Finally, just a comment in general:
I am so sick of hearing this inane, knee jerk opinion about the "production" on the first two classic KISS albums being "the reason"...
M
⚡
Having said all that these are the studio albums that matter to me:
1. KISS
2. Rock And Roll Over
3. Creatures Of The Night
4. Music From The Elder
5. Destroyer
6. Hotter Than Hell
7. Dynasty
8. Love Gun
9. Dressed To Kill
10. Animalize
11. Link It Up
12. Unmasked
Thank you for the fantastic comment, this will not be the only time I read it ! It still blows me away that the music we grew up with & still enjoy to this very day has brought us together ! Wishing you nothing but the best 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Thank you so much and the same back to you Darcy! Rock on 🤘🤘
Top 2 are absolutely correct 😜👍😜👍😜👍😜👍😜👍
The production is a big issue for me if I had to pick something
#8 - Animalize: a true hair metal album from Kiss, this is, dare I say, a Motley Crue level of "heavy" in the grand scheme of things.

My top 5 would probably look something like,
Destroyer
Love Gun
Kiss
Creatures of the Night
Animalyze
1. Kiss
2. Dressed to Kill
3. Love Gun
4. Hotter than Hell
5. Destroyer
6. Creatures of the Night

9. Dynasty
10. Music from "The Elder"
11. Animalize
12. Asylum
13. Unmasked
14. Psycho Circus
Kiss was my first band as well.

Hotter than hell needs a box set, that's my number one kiss album
I wonder if the original tracks still exist. That album could benefit from a remix big time. Keener and Wise were not good producers
Great ranking Darcy really enjoyed it . 😍😎😍
Thank you my friend 🤘 very much appreciated :)
Animalize is probably the most underrated 80’s album. All of the others are respectively rated accordingly. Nice list dude! Look similar as to where I’d place everything.
I love the 5 Paul tracks, really carries the album in my opinion. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Awesome ranking Darcy 🤘. Such a tough task to complete. I got into Kiss through Creatures Of The Night. I remember buying the album based on the cover art. Still missing some of their albums. Now you're gonna make me spend more money 💰 🤣. Cheers 🍻!
Creatures is a great album ! Remember watch at your own risk 🤑 Cheers Speedy
Have you heard some of the demos off the new Creatures box set? Some pretty Kool stuff
Yes I know how much you love KISS, you did a great job on your ranking video too ! Thanks as always G 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Interesting list, especially your top 10
Man, you're 100% right that no two rankings are the same - I absolutely love Monster, top 3 album for me! You're definitely right that they don't have any bad albums either, every single one has a number of great tracks. Nice video! 🤘🏻🔥⚡️
Videos like these always make me regret getting rid of my cassettes back in the 90s.
🤣😂 sounds like every high school teacher I ever had ! Cheers Frankie 🍻
KISS is where I started my rock and metal journey. I got Alive II for Christmas of 1977 and I was forever hooked. My top 4: HTH/COTN/RARO/LIU. 🤘
Thank you 🤘 Everything is going great ty for asking, hope things are good with you too ! See you soon with some more videos :))
Always good to see you sir! Great video
It gets waaaaay heavier next video lmao. Hope you guys are doing great 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
My mini ranking for the KISS 78 solo albums would be
1. Ace Frehley
2. Paul Stanley
3. Peter Criss
4. Gene Simmons
Love SAXON🤘Their new/current material is just as good as their old stuff 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I’m glad you stopped by last night, I had a blast with those guys! Totally agree with you on the newer Saxon albums, especially the latest two. Cheers Thomas 🤘 Tty soon
Great video , enjoyed your ranking. Different from me but it’s great to hear why someone likes one album from another. 👍🏻
I love hearing people stories too, that’s what makes these rankings fun! Thanks for the kind words 🤘 Cheers from Canada
It’s amazing for how many of us Kiss was the gateway to hardrock/metal. For me they were superheroes as a kid..
I think Gene was too busy acting for most part of the 80’s
What’s wrong with disco anyways ;) Take care Darcy!
Yes that’s exactly how I perceived them when I was 10-14, superhero’s ! Lol nothing wrong with disco whatsoever 🤘 Cheers Mark

Hi Darcy!!! cool list/ranking and fun listening to the stories and history you have with the band..... really enjoyed your ranking because it's really different to other i have seeing before. Cheers and be well
Hey Darcy just saw you doing the Saxon Albums on Marty’s Channel 🤘

I know another very cool guy with the same birthdate as Gene 🤘 Love you bro-ski
Great video. My list is way different except i rank Creatures and Destroyer very high.
Rock N Roll Over is my favorite album and was my first album ever . Good ranking bro 🤘
Great choice brother ! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Pedro
Ok, here´s my Kiss ranking:
1. Music From The Elder
... that´s it, hahaha....
I appreciate you sticking it out my friend ! It’s crazy to think most of my favourite Metal comes from your country haha. Music From The Elder is not as bad as people make it out to be, nice choice for your #1 … wait your only choice 😂 Cheers Jürgen
I appreciate your list. I definitely like their albums in order of their release but I may need to listen to stuff from the 80s more
Definitely check out more from the 80s, some of their best work! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
My 5 favorite KISS albums:
1/ Dynasty
2/ Unmasked
3/ Destroyer
4/ Creatures of the night
5/ Lick It up
Great Top 5 🤘 Cheers Francis
Unmasked? Are you from Australia? Everything is upside down under

I totally agree that Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer should have had their own makeup design. Either that or don't wear makeup at all.

Great choices! Hard to beat your Top 2, early 80’s KISS is awesome! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Love the title track on Monster, Hell or Hallelujah 🤭
Lick It Up was my first Kiss album I bought. I had Creatures Of The Night on tape before that and Lick It Up delivered. A Million To One is one of Paul Stanleys greatest vocal performances on a album. I agree Gene sounding mean on that album. Great list and love that you gave Creatures and Lick It Up well deserved love.
I totally agree on A Million To One! Not a weak track on that album, Paul & Gene both at the top of their game. Great to hear from you 🤘 Cheers Petri
Looking fwd to scorpions too!
Kiss is the best band rock in the world🎸🌎🌍🌏
It's my favourite kiss album it was my first
Not my first but definitely my favourite, one of those albums I never get tired of! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Stay Heavy my friend and crank up some KIϟϟ🤘🤘🤘🤘
Looking forward to The Scorpions 🦂 ranking
My top 5
Destroyer
Revenge
Sonic Boom
Creatures of the night
Hotter then hell
Sonic Boom and Monster are pretty strong records f*** the Makeup issue these two records are awesome and the elder isnt that Bad
Ace is the reason so many picked up guitar, glad you did too ! Like I said no bad albums, including The Elder which has some great songs. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Rock and roll over, alive 2 alive, dressed to kill, revenge, creatures alive 3, lick it up, destroyer love gun, dynasty,..

Come on now Dawg, Dynasty is top 1 or 2 stop the cap
Unfortunately they are not "my cup of tea". given i'm still into Led Zeppelin)
Hi Darcy, i recently got into Kiss. I have had Revenge since 92 and is my favourite. Besides that im into the old stuff the most.
Have you ranked Motörhead before? That be awesome
Yes I have ! Great discography, check it out 🤘 Cheers Chris
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 will do brother thank you for all the awesome content stay heavy my friend 🤘
I totaly missed this video. I am suscribed to too many people and like that i just dont see all the posts of the people. I am going to unscribe to a lot and just keep the ones i really like. Anyway, cool Darcy, i am going to watch this video now.
I know what you mean, it’s hard to keep up on watching everyone! I think you’ll like my #1 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Yessss, your number 1 is my number 2 and your number 2 is my number 1. Super, we are the best darcy lol
Lick It Up is one of their best .
Oddly,I saw them 4 times but never with the make up on!
Well I’d trade you one with makeup show for one without makeup show lol. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
They were at their heaviest without make up so I'll pass lol
I don’t blame you 😂
Great ranking. But Asylum is my least favorite album. Bruce is a great guitarist. But for me, he never fit into Kiss.
LOL KISS Alive! is their best studio album!!
😂 That’s great! Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Your cassettes are not original.
