    Alright, I’m having a poll for the other Netflix Marvel shows on Patreon, if you liked this study, please consider supporting me and decide what’s next.
    www.patreon.com/posts/51128017
    Btw this is also partly a remake of my old Daredevil season 1 analysis while lumping in all the other seasons, because it made more sense to make one 40 minute video than four 10 minute videos (I won’t need to reiterate the same literature review again and again). Furthermore, since my views has imploded into itself, I said screw it and made this the most self-indulgent project ever, where I prioritised my enjoyment of editing (specifically with music and cross-cutting) over the core analysis and findings itself. So you’re probably going to roll your eyes from how dramatically pretentious and overdone this all is, but regardless the experience of handling so much footage has prepared me for that Smallville video I keep going on about. So there's that.

      Sadly as a Daredevil fan, In the real world, I’ve heard so many bs criticisms about Daredevil. Sadly, The Arrowverse(Flash and Arrow seem to be more popular in terms of views) The Marvel TV shows were not popular at my school and got a lot of hate. A lot of people Ik in my high school and adults I know dropped Daredevil before the Stick episode and complained the character is lame, he’s stupid cause he is blind, his suit is lame and really dumb, the show is too boring, slow, dark, violent, Daredevil should have let things be, he’s lame because of the Ben Affleck 20th Century Fox Movie in 2003 and the show got too stale (these are all season 1 complaints) and so many people wouldn’t listen to me when watching it and listened to other people with their suggestions. That, and the fact that the Black Sky was...never explained. I presume it's a mystical thing; Elektra is just like, "I'm the Black Sky. I have to embrace my nature." But neither Elektra nor Matt nor the audience really know what the Black Sky even is. It seems to be a human who is...born with a murderous nature and mad fighting skills? That person still doesn't sound invincible, but Stick says the Black Sky is super-dangerous. For that matter, we don't even know why The Hand wanted to have a Black Sky in Hell's Kitchen. The Chinese and the Japanese are presumably rival gangs who work together loosely under Fisk, but Nobu and Gao are both Hand members. Did they want to use the BS to take down Fisk? What were their goals after that? (They don't exactly seem intent on domination a geographic area or...really anything except being rich via illicit trafficking.) Giving Nobu an arc and some idea of what, exactly, The Hand was after would have made stengthened S2 immeaurably and made it more enjoyable. @Tyler_W

    I’ve always said Daredevil is my favorite christian show. It does a better job portraying faith than any christian movie/show I’ve seen (other than maybe the Chosen). It frustrates me to no end that christian filmmakers seem to think they have to choose between representing their faith and telling a good story when DD is over here doing both!

    • @mueggsy
      @mueggsy 3 года назад +52

      As a fellow Christian, I 100% agree! I really like how DD handles the topic of questioning ones faith too, because so many Christian movies portray that topic so poorly, if at all, even though it's something that so many Christians go through.

    • @tryit742
      @tryit742 3 года назад +46

      Yes! The depiction of faith isn't ham-fisted or pandering in any way. As a Catholic, I feel like Catholicism has tons of representation in media, but rarely relatable ones. It often feels caricature-y in other movies and shows. But in Daredevil, especially S3, man, Matt's crisis of faith just hits so close to home. It's so well-done and so natural, much props to the writers for the authentic dialogue, the director, and of course, Charlie Cox' genuine and phenomenal portrayal of Matt. S3 especially was so cathartic.

    • @SapphWolf
      @SapphWolf 3 года назад +44

      Heck, even as an atheist I can appreciate this. It feels real. A lot of those movies talk about faith but it always feel superficial and shallow when they do it. Matt's story speaks to a deeper struggle of trying to be a better version of yourself, how complicated and messy that can be, and how his faith keeps him on the right path.

Asian-Cinema (Samurai, Kung Fu, Drama, Anime, etc.) has a HUGE American (or Western in general) following and has for decades now. How on earth could anyone in this business ever think that no one cares about any Asian characters in a story whether they are Chinese, Vietnamese or anything else? Loeb's anti-Asian stance hinders Daredevil S2 and Defender series (most likely Iron Fist too since it's based on Asian culture) to be great, while Feige's total control in Marvel Studios after Endgame hinders Phase 4 to be great since he's too focus on diversity sacrificing great storytelling (Yes! MCU Phase 4 sucks!). Political stances bleeding TOO MUCH in their job while forgetting their goal to entertain is probably the reason why modern Western media is so ugly right now. What do you think?

    As a curious guy, while being a believer, there were some times in my life when I used to think about _'why God let bad things happen?'_ and well, I had my own answers to that but I wasn't sure if I was the only one who's thinking that way, but then I heard these two beautiful quotes in this Netflix's masterpiece and ultimately got the confirmation that what I think is not uncommon and also, I got some better and beautiful words/sentences to describe that easily:
    *_"God’s plan is like a beautiful tapestry. And the tragedy of being human is that we only get to see it from the back. With all the ragged threads and the muddy colors. And we only get a hint at the true beauty that would be revealed if we could see the whole pattern on the other side…. as God does."_*
    .... and the other one is -
    *_"Maybe that was God's plan all along. Why He created him (Satan/Devil), allowed him to fall from grace, to become a symbol to be feared.... warning to us all, ''to tread the path of the righteous''."_*
    So, for me, the best part of season 3 was when Matthew, 'after losing his faith and later redeeming it', himself said this quote - "God’s plan is like a beautiful tapestry.... - as the greatest counter to non-believers who disrespect God and believers' faith, by saying that "if there's a God why does He let bad things happen to people?".
    Netflix's Daredevil showcases the beauty of faith and God's plan in the best way, meanwhile half of Hollywood and other pop-culture stuff just bashes religion and promote anti-faith and anti-religious things.
    - This is coming from a guy who's not a Christian, but a believer.

He is good and does good and even twists bad things around and uses them for good (e.g., Job learned to be humble and to trust God when God allowed Satan to destroy Job's life. In DD, God used Matt's blindness and heightened senses to teach him to get back up, to fight even when no one else is, when no one else expects it of Matt. Matt says that God used the traffic accident and his subsequent tragic childhood (Stick's training, etc.) to form him into DD. Matt wouldn't have been able been able to fight for justice the way he does or take down Fisk if not for DD. With Charlie Cox’s Daredevil strongly rumored to be soft rebooted in the MCU, Ms. Marvel coming from a practicing Muslim family and even the original Captain America professing a belief in an Abrahamic God (and by extension Mack from Agents of Shield doing the same even though he’s no longer MCU canon) it will be interesting to see how Disney incorporates a belief in a One Singular Cosmic Entity (God) as the origin of all things in a universe filled with lesser cosmic deities and concepts that on the surface at least, seems to contradict the Judeo/Christian/Islamic belief.

    Daredevil has been my 2nd or 3rd favorite Marvel hero for forever, but not even I expected how much I'd love this show. The entire ensemble is brilliantly cast. Cox and D'Onofrio in particular are perfect. I absolutely love the noir aesthetics of the first two seasons, and even though that's really what they should've stuck with for season 3, the psychological action-thriller vibe was legit too. It has some of the best action choreography I've ever seen in a TV show in terms of hand-to-hand combat. It does the main character justice, and I greatly appreciated the sincerity and genuineness with which they handled the complexity of his religious faith.

      The Netflix shows have always been at a disadvantage because 1) Fans of the MCU movies are quick to dismiss them because the characters don't crossover in the films, and their stories doesn't contribute to the MCU plotline, so they don't even give it a chance, regardless if it's good or not, 2) The Marvel shows are kind of the main and few things that Disney+ is offering right now, so it gets all the promotion and love from Disney. Meanwhile there are a lot of Netflix originals that the Netflix Marvel shows had to compete with in terms of getting the promotional love from Netflix. Netflix themselves never quite gave its Marvel shows the same kind of attention and effort in promotion. Meanwhile Disney+ social media accounts are all out in promoting their Marvel shows. 3) As mentioned, these new shows impact the events in the movies, so even people who don't like the characters that are stars of the show, they are compelled to watch it. (I know someone who doesn't like Wanda but watched WandaVision because it leads into Doctor Strange 2. The Netflix Marvel shows never stood a chance. These Disney+ shows are piggybacking off the success of a massive 23-movie franchise, while the Netflix shows started from scratch

    Best Netflix Marvel show me thinks 🙂 and no, none of the others came close. Notice how people still talk about Daredevil 2 years later it ended and still in conversations now in the Disney+ Marvel era 😃 It's the only Netflix Marvel show that aged well. Disney+ Marvel has been really great in the 2 shows and 1 ongoing show they have now, but Daredevil still at the top for me.

    I never had such emotional connection with a series before. Literally getting adrenaline rushes after almost every episode... The constant and smart plot twists, the character development, the interaction and symbolism of faith in the series, the perfect acting, the way they made every character (even the most evil) relatable and somehow flawed - human.
    It's trully the best superhero serie I have ever seen and it made Daredevil my favorite Marvel character. Ohhh and yes HOW HOT IS MATT MURDOCK

    I won't ever forgive Jeph Loeb for his statements.
