FANCY LADS!!!!! seriously go to boston, portland (maine), maybe providence, philly (stop in NYC if you must), skatopia, DC, and anywhere else you can think of and just completely cover the north east.
My warm up is slightly different. I start with a snack cake and a coffee. I then move on to more intense training like watching Braille skateboard. By this time I am usually ready for the extreme tricks like napping and wondering what I am going to eat for lunch.
It's super interesting to me how different their styles are. Mike is quite snappy and I love the way he stomps tricks. Yuta is real flow-y but still super precise, a real joy to watch
In my mind, I don't call it "freestyle". I call it P-style (personal style). I had the opportunity of see more than 100 differents ways last weekend in the Euro-Freestyle. And Mike.... WE MISS YOU !!!!
Rodney M. Is the goat and the reason he is the goat not only did he pioneered just about every variation of freestyle but he didn’t self proclaim himself the best of anything. He just wholeheartedly loved skating.
I agree he loved skating but if you read his autobiography it becomes clear there is a sense of boasting. However that was present with all freestylers such as Primo Desiderio. What’s important to remember is there were so many legends of freestyle with amazing styles with Rodney of being one part of the whole. I think what Mike is saying is don’t forget about the other guys
I love the addition of the slow mo clips. Being able to really see and understand what the board is doing in the air and what the skater is doing with their feet is super interesting.
Always great to see freestyle! I'm loving all the attention it has been getting here in Australia the past year or two and seeing Flatlandia as a site be created to help promote freestyle here in Australia has been super interesting.
SLS and DewTour are gonna need a freestyle section in their tournaments at the rate people are pushing this stuff! Yuta is truly amazing haha. Great vid showing off his capability and style. ;)
Definitely. He's got that awesome energy, and a totally different style than the rest of the people usually featured. Aaron made me want a skateboard, but Mike made me want to skate.
YO! That man is ABSOLUTELY... KILLING IT! 👍 👍 That version of a switchblade is boss lvl. I have mad lvl hype for him. I can definitely see why Mike is all about it. This... This right here is why I wanna skate. BOMB 💣 video guys! 👍 👍 Please dear Skate Gods we all NEED more of this. Amazing video guys, and thanks SO much for the awesome slow-mo montage. I'm just blown away... Really.
Exciting NEWS that Yuta has been picked up by WALTZ and has his own pro model board coming out soon. Love what Mike and Daniel are doing for freestyle, making freestyle products accessible to everyone.
So happy to see that BRAILlE Skateboarding is still covering Freestyle. Yuta Fujii, is one of the very best freestyle skaters the sport has produced, winning 1st place in the Pro Division in the 2020 World Round-Up Online Showdown which BRAILLE hosted. That same year his dad Masahiro Fujii won the Masters Pro Division. Imagine learning how to do freestyle tricks from your father.
Masahiro is amazing too. I was hoping they would mention him. He has quite a few trick variations that no one else does. Plus he’s still picking up new stuff into his 50s
Omg this is really cool. I love Rodney, He's been my favorite as I've been discovering freestyle skateboarding and it's refreshing to see new talent like this
I think this flatland freestyle is very quickly becoming my favourite style of skateboarding to watch their board control is just extraordinary, mind-blowing stuff I wouldn't know where to start. Just WOW....
Yuta & Rodney both have different styles but a lot of the same tricks. I feel like the reason that a lot of people say that Yuta is better than Rodney is because freestyle tricks and in its whole is so much more popular and advanced than it was back in the 80’s. I tho k they’re both insane!
I don't see how anybody can make an argument that Rodney Mullins not the best ever do it. And created everything lol including the Ollie. It's not even close.
3:45 I'm out of it now by many years but when I was like 18 I loved finger flips and I had finger hard flip for a little second. .....and yes moving lol
Rodney is probably the Greatest skateboarder of all time, doing tricks that haven’t even been landed by anyone today…At a time when the ollie and kickflip were just being invented(by him of course). However, we can’t let Rodney’s awesome skill distract us from the talent of modern freestyle skateboarders! I think that’s what mike was getting at. Also, modern freestylers can do many tricks that Rodney Mullen never landed or will land, and that’s just how skating works over time, it progresses.
It has been 30 years , before I saw anyone who would be better than Rondney Mullen , but this guy will do it . I look forward to it , at least 10 years of exiting trixs , no one can ever match
When I was younger I used to do things like rail slides and primo slides across flat tops. I could pressure flip out of both of them and I was skating with someone one day. He was a friend of a friend so I had only just met him that day. He told me that I'll never amount to anything doing tricks like that. I'll never be anybody because nobody wants to watch flatground skateboarding. This crushed my spirit and since then I've stopped doing all those tricks completely and started favoring more modern street tricks like frontside flips and back nose slides.
This kid is insane!! I searched Rodney mullen best, he'll be forever my favorite skater. This kid is onto something absolutely incredible and I hope he continues skating!
@@Lucks-3Rodney Mullen invented the 360 flip that yuta does on his warm up. Rodney is credited with the kick flip yuta does too. Rodney is The Godfather.
This is so sick! I am so crazy happy freestyle is back, been riding around learning again can’t wait to get back in to my old grove. It’s like Peter Pan I have to remember how to fly. “ Happy thoughts” 😅 thank you guys for all you do.
Not sure how it translates into engagement on the channel, but mike is always my favorite guest and I can’t get enough of the freestyle vids! Also… why does he not like Rodney lol
Thank you Keegan! Means a lot to read that. I love Rodney. I don’t like having every skater that I admire compared to him though. I believe that constantly comparing freestylers to a guy who hasn’t contributed to our sport in 30 years overshadows the contribution that folks like Yuta and many other have made.
Real talk. I'm having a little trouble using my smaller deck. I have big ol hobbit feet. If I was more proficient on a bigger board could I then transfer to thinner decks???
Rodney and daewon pioneered freestyle. I still freestyle and street skate at 45. Back then hardly no one skated freestyle it was all about very and street. Skating has evolved but Rodney and daewon literally created most of the tricks we all do now

Both have mad skillz but Rodney came up with literally all these tricks back in the 80's! and he changed the shape of the freestyle board as we know it..! Rodney will always be the GOAT of freestyle skateboarding
Aye yo Mike, what wheels is Yuta riding? They have a very “squared’” edge/tablet shape, I really dig them. And they don’t look offset…? Either way, his skating is absolutely next level. Effortless style and execution of ridiculously hard tricks…what more could you want? Arigatogozaimasu for the great vid!💥💯💥
I wouldn’t say one is better than the other, honest opinion they are the same, this kid wouldn’t know what to do unless Rodney Mullen made this type of slaying the skateboard possible! Respect for both skaters!
Who should we invite to skate with us next?
