I appreciate your honesty about travel and actually leaving home. Leaving home is the hardest thing to do …once I’m away my adventure can begin. Hello Everywhere :) Something til now I took for granted - being able to see my car parked outside my home as I eat a meal at my dining table. Positano has beautiful people and is certainly one of the most gorgeous places in the world, but I do love my own Tennessee home sweet home. I will say that Nicki and Carlo and Holly are in great shape with the steps they walk every time they leave their home. That's definitely a healthy, happy bonus.
Rapallo is absolutely stunning. I can see why Carlos loves it. It does have mountains like Positano, but not quite as high and steep. It also has a beautifully appointed town centre with shops and restaurants... that river is just lovely. The marina makes sailing at any time a reality. The beach is large and flat. It's picturesque and beautiful. The architecture is stunning. It's large enough to be exciting while small enough to be charming. I love it! ❤️

I was sad for Holly when she thought she wasn't going, but then loved seeing her perk up! I love that in Europe it seems dogs are much more accepted in places. Here in the US I have trouble even finding hotels to take our dogs (also because they are so big). Happy New Year!
I am so happy here in Germany we can take our dog into most restaurants, all cafes and most shops apart from food shops

OMG, what a wonderful way for me to revisit a trip we made a few years ago. We actually stayed at the same hotel in Rapallo and we were so impressed with the hotel service and the whole sea front experience. What a nice gift you’ve given me! Grazie dal cuore!
From an American, I always find it fascinating that some of these towns close for lunch. Here, we just take turns for lunch. Lunch breaks are usually 30-1 hour. My husband is a Pharmacist and he doesn't get to leave for lunch and no breaks. Sometimes, he only gets a bit of something while he's working. I wish we would learn to slow down more :)

I'm so glad you all had an enjoyable and safe Christmas. It's understandable why Holly gets so anxious. Does she watch "Dog TV" etc. on RUclips? Non-stop various birds flying in and eating seed (inc. bird sounds) and the occasional squirrel etc. Both humans and dogs find it relaxing. It may be good for the rare occassions when you have to leave her at home.

Lovely beginning of trip drive. The border coastal reminds me of Beverly Hills sans water. Holly is so well behaved perfectly suited for traveling. Isn’t it nice to be on flat surfaces???? I think you two are headed for a residential change in the next 5 years. You’ll like it so much better as we are no longer in our 20-30’s & must accept reality. Parts do & will wear out.

Good afternoon. Happy Canadian Boxing Day . Wishing you a very Merry Christmas ! I didn't get to say that to you before it was over.I'm so glad you have an Audi. They are so pretty to watch from any window & reliable too ! Did get that Rush of adventure as you left. I really dislike tunnels.( In Canada through the Rocky mountains there is a circuit of them. It is called the Rogers Pass. There's just nowhere to go if something bad happens in a tunnel. So usually when I travel British Columbia I'll drive miles out of the way to go Crow's Nest Pass. In British Columbia you are either you're going up and down or around mountains and lakes. There are lots of ferries. It is beautiful!).Ravenna is picturesque . In your evening stroll down the waterfront there was a very unusual tree that had two large clusters of I presume flowers. They look like cauliflowers. I wonder what they were? I am so happy that you got to visit the Weston- Bennetts. No doubt you had a lot of fun. I know you brought them one of those classic Italian fruit cakes. I ordered one for Christmas to be delivered. It is from Milan. I don't know what they taste like yet. I hope it's soon arrives. It is your influence that would lead me to order such a thing. I hope you're sitting down Carlo because right now outside, it is covered with a thick blanket of beautiful white snow probably 15 cm. & not for the faint of heart, the thermometer has dipped to -23°C. I don't believe your hot Italian blood would understand how cool that was until it could experience that. I am smiling Carlo! Backing up to the beginning of your journey I found it fascinating that that donkey mold of transportation and carrier passed by your state-of-the-art Audi car. What a juxtaposition.I did watch Fern's vlog of your visit. In that at the beginning she was lecturing Sugar 🐕, castigating her typically unfriendly behavior towards other dogsShe was praising Sylvia who "gets along with other doggies". I found it amusing that Carlo you were petting Sylvia & Holly on the couch. Sugar wasn't even in sight. The News bulletin that you reported Nicki, is concerning news regarding your return later to Positano. Hopefully France will permit passage easily. This evil pandemic that frustrates and complicates all of us cannot die quick enough for all of us. We can hope it will be soon!!

Although we spent three weeks on the Riviera Ligure, we didn't stop at Rapallo. Next time we will. This is such a great adventure that you are sharing with us. It made me chuckle a little when you said that Monte Carlo is like Positano with sky scrapers. Having been to many small Italian towns and also to Monte Carlo, I can tell you, Monte Carlo is like no other town. The amount of money in Monte Carlo sets it apart from any town of it's size anywhere.

There are 2 things I would love to happen when I visit Positano again - #1 - Seeing/meeting you - Nicki & Carlo (even if just running into you by chance) and #2 - seeing/meeting Holly. You have no idea how many people watching these videos love that little dog of yours! She is definitely living her best life having chosen Carlo & you to be her Mama and Papa.

I'm the same and it's nice to know that other do too that I'm not alone in thinking that. What a fantastic view from your hotel. I stayed in the hotel catty corner from your hotel which is across the street and on the curve. We loved Rapallo! Such a lovely walk along the sea front. I envy your journey! We took the train down to Vernazza and the boat back stopping in Portofino. Italy is the cream of the top of Europe.

Great video of a different part of Italy and France. Carlo, my parents still can not pronounce th and they have lived in Canada from Holland since 1952. I named my daughter Kathryn, not thinking about my poor parents so to them she is Katryn and we love it. WE have a lot of bad mountain roads in BC Canada and I wish they would tunnel them. Here they build huge bridge spans and 4 lane roads that are still closed due to snow and mud slides. Safe Travels.
