- We have been waiting years to be able to do this and finally it is the day we get a whole new kitchen! Just one little problem...lots and lots of steps!
A big thank you to the lovely delivery men who stuck it out with us and put everything together incredibly quickly.

Remarkable when you are young. Wait till you are in yr late sixties or early seventies. Then, am sure you ll use a different word..
Dear Micheal, Carlo here, my mom, is 84 and still manages to climb the stairs to go out / back home in total about 700 steps, of course we are not all the same, my father for example just one year more than mom, he can't to get out of the house more, to have the opportunity to grow old, is a gift, otherwise it means that you die young, life is made up of moments, (good and bad) that go away faster than we think, and someone more lucky than others, and someone else is more unfortunate than others, but still almost everyone has the opportunity to take our life with positivity, even if everything goes wrong!

In my opinion....people today are too comfortably and lazy a bit.... Who lives there right on the Amalfi coast, is strong character by me...and then you apreciate yourself much more and got the magical views every day, every night...

@@mircat28 that's how it is in small Italian villages, I grew up in a tiny village on lake Como and everyone knows everyone. It's changing a bit, especially with lake Como becoming popular and expensive lots of rich people buy houses for vacationing, and my friends can't afford to live close to their parents unless they inherit their grandparents' place. But when I go back there are still lots of people that stop my mom all over the place, and that know me as "so and so's daughter/granddaughter"
It's really remarkable anyone sets up housekeeping on a steep hill with hundreds of steps. Wonderful men, able bodied, and willing to carry appliances on their backs. Love your new white cabinets. It will look bright and inviting. Well done all of you!

My husband passed away on Tuesday morning,after a long fight against cancer...I would like to thank you, Nicki and Carlo for helping me take my mind off of the horrendous times we have been through this past year...We would sit and watch your videos together...Yes,i agree ,we only have one life....go live it to the max !..

It's beautiful! How Italian day was that: hundreds of steps up and down a mountain side carrying a kitchen on ones' back, sheep and dogs, Pasta, sunshine, a forge and gorgeous colours. Simply awesome.

I found this so fascinating to watch all the logistics of transporting the boxes and then the construction of the kitchen. I will never again take for granted the few steps we have to go up to get things in our door! You guys are amazing! Right! Every time I do any stairs and end up winded I think of Nicki and Carlo walking up and down so many steps every day just to live normal life. Yikes.

I always liked your old kitchen but this new one is stunning - love the colours you have chosen and cannot wait to see the tiles you have designed. I cannot get over how many skills Carlo has, going to forge the shelf brackets is just brilliant! Plus the fact that you weren't fazed at having to cook for ten people at lunchtime - you two really are amazing. Love your videos, they always cheer me up

Congratulations! Like Genesis out of chaos comes order. All of this took advananced planning, as to what precisely you wanted with the availble space. Well done Niki and Carlo. Just the getting of all the stuff down to the house was a monumental task. Hat's off to those that carried stuff on their backs, especially the fridge. Carlo, you were in your element, organizing the whole transport{Carrella a good Englisgh translation is acatapillerorizedtrolley} deal and getting those shelf holders made{brackets}. It's amazing what Ikea can do. Niki, you were smart, you stayed out of the way and did the essential...made lunch. What's your puppy's name, I didn't get it. You were right, he keeps Holly young by playing well togather and sleeping together. Comparing the old to the new, the old was functioning clutter, the new, modern {almost an American sized fridge} , sleek, fully functional, giving you both more light and a view to the outside while at the sink. I love that toaster bif enough for bagels. A major accomplishment, with help from great friends. Have several Bloody Caesars on me! Un abbraccio forte a due!

It turned out so beautiful! I bet you're happy to have a much bigger sink now. You're very fortunate to have Carlo's cousin's shop to hold your mail and to have helped out with bringing everything down. Also having his brother as well. Such a wonderful community. To think this new kitchen began with Nicky asking Carlo to make improvements to the countertop! I thought was a dramatic upgrade after seeing the camera pan across the cabinets and new tap. In English you would call that a step climber. We had one at our store to bring appliances up stairs. Your new kitchen is so beautiful and so many people helping it makes it so special.

Lucky you - dry day. When I built my kitchen it arrived on a snowy day in February in a van which didn't fit down my lane. 67 boxes, a sofa and armchair in kit form and a very heavy double mattress. The delivery driver wouldn't help, so I had a lovely day schlepping it all into the house on my own. I was only 61 at the time, so still full of youthful energy. I don't envy you all those steps though. I only have a steepish path and a bridge to cross. And you are so right about the plugs - I just went out and bought every type of adaptor imaginable as there is always a small power point when tyou have something with a big plug, and vice versa.

Remarkably you guys have managed ( with help) to not only bring all the pieces of kitchen parts, a fridge, Carlo made brackets , paint accent walls and all with daring steps to climb, little dogs to manage. But the result is modern, lots of wood and a shinny new tap, though we were wondering if by having open shelves ( that look lovely) you might have lost storage space? Looks like a lovely modern country kitchen anyway, with a sink with a view…yaaa!.
