Oh this will be fun! Love watching renovations...I live on 13 acres..very rural area...and like you, I love gardening and reading and being on my farm as opposed to miles of hiking...lol...you will have a blast fixing it up..I think we changed everything about this house after we bought it...bring on the videos !

I kind of saw you as the younger Hannah Lee Duggan. She started out van life. She made a lot of money off RUclips. Then she bought 2 cabins in the woods and started renovating them herself (she’s a handy, capable builder like yourself). She wasn’t done working on them when she found her little dream house down the street. So she been working on all 3 places, while taking time out to travel outside the U.S. along with random traveling and visiting her van life friends. Her channel has thrived from it. She recently bought an old James Dean looking motorcycle and did bike camping. LoL. You can still be stationary and live the adventure. Most people get trapped with the daily grind and don’t end up exploring or experiencing everything that’s out there. So for you to be able to do that is good.
There’s a lot of other creators that started van life that led to bigger, better things. Have you watched Tyler and Todd? They did the RV life and then bought land in a the forest to live completely off grid. They built a dome to live in while they are currently building their dream container house. They dug ditches and trenches, pump out well water, huge solar panels to power the place, made a garden, did the landscaping and still managing to take vacations and meet up with other nomad friends from RUclips.

Also...It is NOT the same, but I am about to move into a larger "tiny home" here in China after 20 months in a 120-square foot place with a dog and a "wet bath" and loft bed, and I am SO excited to soon be somewhere with a bedroom I can stand up in, a dry bathroom with a separate shower and a real room to cook in. Yay for new chapters after challenges!

Full-time vanlife is only for certain people. Most people either won't like it or won't like it for more than a few years. To really enjoy vanlife, you need to be a really independent person who values their freedom, independence, and autonomy above all things and doesn't really care about material things or the shoulds society places on you. That type of person will thrive as a van lifer. Most people, however, are not that type of person, so they get in for the adventure and get out for the stability. There's nothing wrong with that either.
I understand you I was 16 years old when I joined a punk band in 1980 it was my first kinda being on my own it was me and three other guys cramped in a van with our gear and luggage I loved it at first the parties and no parents watching us I did it until 1990 and got nowhere with our music we didn’t even have a Album out and my girlfriend at the time was pregnant so I gave it up and went back to school got my degree and work as a music teacher I still reminisce about it

hmmmmm....strange how several of my sailing channels/ travelers/adventurers are settling down buying properties and changing their channels to this. Warning to all of you: I bought property about 30 years ago, Built outbuildings, two story tree house, multiple decks and patios, taming an unruly land that still fights back like a crazed dragon. When you buy pressure treated wood and build that deck. You think, wow....I'm going to get a longgg 20 years of enjoyment out of this before it needs replacing. That 20 years finishes fast!!!! 30 years in now! Oh boy....just realized my roof lifespan is rated for 30 years. ;)

You have said out loud what the other van lifers are afraid to say. As with everything there is the good, the scenery, meeting new people, finding favorite food spots and the not so good, the crowds, rude people, bad drivers, congestion, finding showers and overnight parking, park fees and the idiots who litter. Looking forward to any new adventures you can share with us. You one of a kind, love your picks of music and how you get so animated talking a mile a minute.

@JuliaBrooke they make very fun and interesting pets and fresh eggs to cook with is very satisfying. Also you can sell the eggs and so it covers the cost of the feed. And chickens are great for your garden as they are lil pest control and fertilisers on legs. Also they are quite relaxing to watch, abit like a mini chicken soap opera/ TV show. (Or as I like to call it... chickflix n chill)
