I think the work he puts in means far more than just sales. It's making more people pay attention to Microsoft again. Each of the new products like the Surface Pro, The Surface Book and The Surface Studio have all gained attention from the media and have caused a whole "Microsoft are now more innovative than Apple" perspective. And I wholeheartedly believe that they are on the right track, for their desktop OS at least. I never considered investing in a Surface, but as time has gone on and I see all the little details they have made, I was completely sold on getting a Surface Book and I don't regret it in the slightest. They just need to keep that momentum and consider looking into a more refined marketing strategy to win more people over.
darpill, you do know that the Surface line became one of Microsoft's billion dollar business lines, right? It was only the first gen RT devices that were a massive financial failure.
Praveen Elango I think he will be better at the hardware aspect than Nadella because that’s where they differ Nadella is more of a software and coding person while Panos handles with hardware and understands aesthetics and designs better so it’s more preference because one of Microsoft best products is Azure and Office licensing
Panos is amazing. His knowledge of these things is unsurpassed. Got a SP3 after this, and boy is it AMAZING! Using it as a development tool, entertainment tool and whatnot. iPad is an overpriced Frisbee in comparison.
Apple should hire this guy to manage its product development. He has passion about products, while Tim Cook's only passion is parting you with your money. Sorry Ives, but you are losing touch: thinner is not always better.
I doubt they would want him, part of the reason Apple maintain a division between iPad and MacBooks is they want people to buy two products. It means they have more revenue if people invest in multiple items. Although, it could come back to bite them in the ass when Microsoft eventually make people question why they're stupidly investing so much money in multiple devices when they don't need to.
He doesn't realise that it's not about the hardware and the 'all-day battery life', it's about the software. Windows doesn't work with touch, it just isn't suited for it. And making a compromise somewhere in the middle between touch-oriented and cursor-oriented design gets you Windows 8.
Windows 11 has seemingly been the exact opposite when it comes to use on a tablet, instead of like windows 8 where it's either all metro or not at all, they just enhanced the singular desktop experience so that it's easier to touch certain targets with a sausage finger. I kinda enjoyed the way windows 10 did it, to a point, where windows 10 had a separate mode which basically turned all apps into a touch-friendly app, where it defaults to Fullscreen and whatnot. I still though believe that Windows 11 will be the nicer interface, since it's one paradigm to get used to for everyone, it's just made easier for the other people.
Looking forward to see this guy as a CEO in a decade
+CodeProct anon IKR ? Panos can make a better CEO than Satya. He's just brilliant.OMG that Oct 6 presentation though.Completely blown away !
Well, his department needs to start selling devices first.

Sometimes i think this person can even sell a tv to a blind person.
almost 10 years and it still resonates in our heads... bad thing is this is still not solved, not even by Surface products :(
Excellent presentation!

The great reason of collapsing tablet market :
Convertible Ultrabook
I have an ipad and don't use it. Take my money and give me a Surface Book 2.
Brilliant...
I would believe what he said, until I actually use a Surface Pro 3.
Tony stark arrives...
How is it that this guy was so bad at the win 11 event?!
IKR he's so good here
