Watercolor hummingbird in nest paint along tutorial demo

- So fun to spot a little nest as inspiration. Actually a swallow nest too. They are quite similar but swallow nest is a lot bigger. In this paint along we can explore technique of dropping watercolor for the nest. I simplified the bird to create a more pleasing painting. Very cute painting. Often times I will come across tutorials on RUclips and let them play in the background while I'm working on my own paintings. It's almost like having a friend over to get creative with me. I've been painting off and on for about 50 years and I'm STILL learning new things. You have a very calming demeanor and voice so I'm subscribing. Hummingbirds btw are one of my favorites to paint!

I paint with you often but don’t remember to comment very often. I just finished this one today and I love how it turned out! You are a great teacher and I love your stories. I’m not fond of papa bears either lol
I would love to learn to paint more leafy stuff. I love flowers but just all plants in general and I love the different mixes of greens in leafy greens.
Paint more and stay out of the heat! It’s 104 in East Texas today so I’m painting with you!

I love your delightful "chat" as you paint. It makes me feel that I'm right there with you. And, being a wildlife photographer, and photographing coastal brown bears in the wild in Alaska, I laughed when you talked about mama bear and her babies vs papa bear! I agree with you . . . papa bear is not "friendly." My watercolor painting has improved remarkably watching you paint . . . it's easy now, seeing your specific style showing every movement, types of brushes. I'm learning how to paint bamboo, and I'm stomped on the "bamboo leaves." You mentioned doing a video on leaves. Please count me in for learning how to paint leaves. I look forward to many more video tutorials. FYI -- I did buy some brushes from the OAS.

Just subscribed. I love your style, sense of humour, and generous running commentary with so much great advice. We live in arid Alberta, so l relate to the paper drying too quickly, but mostly l love that we have at least three different breeding pairs of hummingbird at our feeder at this very moment. I'm so excited to try this painting.
*P.S.* I was just about to send, when you asked if the male hummingbird leaves after breeding. The answer is: YES.
