  • Join me as I update my studio office with beautiful artwork from some of my favorite artists! In this video, I share a few pieces I've collected over the years from Alexandra Plim, Sarah Martinez, Phoebe Gander, Patty Ripley, and Amanda Ketterer. Richie and I had a fun day framing up the pieces and getting them hung on the walls-what a difference they make. It’s taken me far too long to frame some of these beauties-I can't be the only one who collects art and then takes years to frame it up! Check out the links below to explore these talented artists and follow them on Instagram. I hope it encourages you to frame your own work or art from artists you enjoy.

    Have you ever tried floating shelves that have a front lip edge on them? I have a couple at home and love them as I can change art out depending on my mood or the season…

      I LOVE that idea and I have seen them around the place. I know you can get them at IKEA, definitely a good option to explore. I always end up with a million holes in the walls from hanging things and then changing my mind!

      I am so excited for you! Daniel Smith watercolours are next level and the colours you have chosen are beautiful! I remember making art on a table in the corner of our lounge room and I sooo longed for a room with a door I could shut. I get it!! Keep dreaming, you never know what the future holds. Creativity can deliver big things to us that we never thought possible. And of course, you can make amazing art in less than ideal places and situations. Enjoy your paints and creative time Xx

    Thanks for the video and sharing these lovely pieces with us; it's wonderful to see more from these Australian artists. Appreciate the reminder about the Sinead quote as well. So important for us all to remember as artists.

    What do you do with a painting that has less than 4 deckled edges (like the two small ones you showed at the beginning)? Do you try to tear the straight edges to make them deckled too, so that they look better in the frame?

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  2 месяца назад

      I chose to frame them without the deckled edge showing as they were quite uneven. One of them was a bit smaller than the mat opening so I ended up getting a custom mat made to fit over the painting snuggly. You could try and tear the straight edge but it can be a bit tricky, a framer might be able to help and will definitely provide advice.

    Must be every exciting to get pieces Made in Australia. Everything we get in the US is of course made in China and other countries. It makes me sick.
    Thank you for sharing. 🧡

      We are lucky here that we can still get hold of a lot of Australian made products, though it is on the demise sadly.

    How do you flatten a piece of art that has been sent rolled? I’m scared I’ll crease it! 😢

    • @LauraHornArt
      @LauraHornArt  2 месяца назад

      The process of framing flattens the art. I use tape to attach the art to the back of the mat of the frame and then the backing board holds it all in place. It's a little trickier to work with when rolled up, but it all flattens out nicely once in position.
