Finished watching the game and yes, this is the Cho Chikun I try to know and love, thanks! Best thing about Cho Chikun of course is how he scratches his head, complains about the game, wipes his brow with a handkercheif in difficult situations,, tut-tuts his own moves and then destroys the opponent (not always). I also really appreciate this lecture, style it's what makes so many of your videos so rewatchable.
52:40 -- the position is called triple ko ... It results in an automatic tie. I believe that Lee Sedol try to pull something off like that against alpha go in 2016 game #3...but failed
Congratulations to Your 200th Go Lecture! It is a pleasure to watch and learn from your lessons - even in far far away from a go-game culture here in Germany.
I have only just reached sdk on ogs ... +yet I think I see something @ [48:30] ... an alternate move to the "only" response ... on this board it would be "yi 16" or "1 16" but on ogs goban is Q19 ... this move would lead to capture as it is a play inside the Tiger's Mouth ... but then white just ataris the capture stone and black is then down to 1 liberty in groups connected by a move chain that leads to extermination. Unless I am not seeing something at the blackbelt level because I am only single digit kyu.
I love these lectures, but I think I prefer the original lectures he does on a PC because the pace is faster and I felt I learnt better. on the PC he can quickly show different combinations of stones, and use the tools to indicate special points. He can put the points down as quickly as he thinks about it. It suits my style of learning.
Nick, these are great lessons! Just a thought... maybe you could have a couple small buckets with several black and white stones marked with yellow or some color to denote that it's an "analysis" stone, and the actual game would not have the yellow marks.
Great video! I loved the surprise ending. Since it's not as common these days I would've loved to have seen a game featuring Cho Chikun's fondness for the 3-3 point openings, he did that a lot back in the 80's, or at least a mention of it :) Also, watching this game I kept asking myself which moves he might have slapped himself in the cheek after.
anyone know why Japanese rules never implemented the super ko rule or why American rules did? like to Japanese, they would rather have a game go void at that point but to American's they would rather you had to keep playing I guess?
Love the 8-5 move from Cho. I immediately knew he would play there because I am just as crazy with my style. Same thing when my group gets in trouble, I tenuki to attack. Ha! This is like watching me as 9P.
At 10 minutes. I always am sad when you don't finish a game, but if you don't finish the game for #200, most requested video, surprise ending game I am unsubscribing.

haha still waiting on the high approach video. maybe for your 420th video
mitchumsport I approached this video high, if that makes you feel any better.
This video is 1 hour and 4:20 long ;) ;)
Bro I’d make the trip for that one
It's coming up soon bahaha
Congrats on your 200th lecture. Also yes, there can never be enough of Cho Chikun or Cho Chikun's badass hair.

The high approach joke was your best joke yet. Congrats on 200 lectures!
Nick Sibicky will have his position in Go history.
Most burning question before watching the video! Are we going to analyze the ultimate move: tea-suji!?!

Wow, I've never seen a triple ko before

Happy 200th! Can't wait to see what happens.
l love the 'high approach' idea
way to go Nick
you re-ignited my intrest in GO again
Your 200 go Lecture! Congrats :D Thank you for all your uploads !
More Cho Chikun please!
I just posted another one of his games in my #397 two weeks ago! :-D
YES! Thank you! I asked like 10 times for this!
By the way, that one guy requesting Cho Chikun might have been me... Sorry. :D
:-)
This and the go seigen are my favourite ones
Nick Sibicky: the master of the high low approach
200! Well done Nick!
Great lecture. Cho Chikun is truly a hihglight for the game of go!
very fascinating game, thanks for posting it
53:16 This is not ko, or do I misunderstand sth?
congrats on the 200..! cudos to you and thanks for all the work and lessons that for me have meant actually learning the game...! thanks again!

A milestone for Nick! Congrats on your 200 lecture :D
When is the high approach video coming out?
Bravo sensei et merci pour tout. 200 nuggets of knowledge.
Interesting game. Congrats for your 200th video.
A high approach lecture... genius. ;)

200th ! Congratulations Nick !
Would love to see a high approach video with Frank and Andrew
Where can a person get a magnetic go board of this size? I've been looking for one as a wall piece/practice board. Any suggestions?
I would like to know too
I like the high approach
This is sgf file: ps.waltheri.net/database/game/14358/
i felt so smart when i could easily see the possibility of cut at 22:45 lol. I am only 8 kyu so this is still kind of advanced move for me.
congrat's on your 200th video.
BTW Cho's gonna be 60years old at next monday :D
[50:37] ... now my left hand has involuntarily gone to the top of my head and has scrunched my hair into a tangled knot
good lecture. and not even because of the triple ko just the whole thing.
Oh no Dan's here.
Playing ONLY high approaches blocks me beeing better than 19k since years.
Where in Washington? I'm just learning about this game.
Does anyone know when alphago will play again?
who won the next game?
anyone know why Japanese rules never implemented the super ko rule or why American rules did?
like to Japanese, they would rather have a game go void at that point but to American's they would rather you had to keep playing I guess?
this may be for entertainment only. The alternative moves you explored and discussed on are really...
so he chose to play the same move forever rather than play out a losing game... :D
The only thing I like more than Igo is the Taoteching.
Do Otake Hideo!
Love the 8-5 move from Cho. I immediately knew he would play there because I am just as crazy with my style. Same thing when my group gets in trouble, I tenuki to attack. Ha! This is like watching me as 9P.
more Cho Chikun is more good!
Whoops. I thought Cho came from Hong Khong ...
Happy birthday! Err... I mean... whatever... Nice video! I already said it (but who cares): I like your pro game reviews. Please, keep it up!
haha, "high approach"
👏👏👏
yes more pro games :D

I maintain my subscription. That was incredible.
If you do not know the name of Cho Chikun, then you cannot consider yourself a serious student of Go. Hell, you shouldn't even be a Go player...
