Whenever I find a pro game to watch, I always find this guy. He comes across as a good nature guy too.
Used to watch Cho and the other old school legends on Sunday’s NHK Go Tournament back in the early 90s. Sakata Eio and Fujisawa Hideyuki were my favorites.
Cho Chikun is my favourite player! Would love to see more of his games reviewed.
i'm surprised to see cho chikun described as a famous influence player in this video
he's the territory guy, who lives with crappy little groups inside every moyo takemiya ever designed
Cho is really versatile. I saw a game of him opening with two 5-3's and stuff like that. I guess players that experiment from time to time can be put under the category of 'more influential' while we're in this strict early 3-3 meta.
The dead bottom joke. Wasn't expecting lmao
Cho Chikun‘s greatest hits
so happy to find a channel like this
Shinji was rated near 3400 Elio back 10 to 20 years ago. He was a top 20 player in the world at the time of his peak.
He 8 major championships in Japan, and came runner-up 11 times between 2004-17.
He is still in the top hundred and forty players in world.
This will show you what Cho Chikun.. can still do to that level of player when he has a throwback game, and plays like he used to
I love all of these real board analyses. They are the pinnacle of Go content. Love it!
Cho Chikun's first joseki choice is probably the most surprising thing I've ever seen in go.
It shouldn't be.
Small avalanche favours Black when he has the ladder to the lower-right, large ava is bad for Black, so the game variation is actually the best play for both sides.
Thx for this guide thru this game. Lots for me to digest.
Awesome game, thanks for going over it!
the notorious disclaimer when you remind the audience a random 9p is "not bad" when playing a legend :D
I love seeing that ai doesn't have to be the model you play off of. It is freeing.
That was a beautiful kill sequence at the end.
Great game, thanks for sharing.
With the voices, one day you should def make a puppets theatre muppet style or south park version of one of your commentaries ;)
I am glad I'm not the only one who has thought of something like this. A young children's Go review 😂
Would be perfect for April fool's.
Great video again. Learning from the pros. Always enjoying your reviews.
Learning every time.
Also, over time, I feel my insight has expanded in the game. Understanding grows little by little.
Keep em coming.
😎
You mentioned spoilers for the game but the title to your video was also a spoiler. But Go is a beautiful game so it's fascinating to watch a game even if you know the result!
General rant: why would you change your style to imitate what the ai does? Are you an ai? Can you read like an ai? No! So how will you know how to execute the strategies the ai thinks are good? A move is only as good as the variation it results in - but unless you're consulting the ai for every move, how do you know which variation you're setting up?
It's like trying to box by watching professionals, learning to imitate all the different moves they make, and then stepping into the ring blindfolded.
The same goes for copying human professionals. The difference between a 9p move and a 9k move is that the 9p can read. Sure, there are general rules that the professionals and ai follow...until they don't. If there was some shortcut that tells you what moves are good without having to think about what will happen next, then go would be a solved game - the go ais would all play exactly the same and stop improving.
Well there’s a name that got my attention.
NIce game, hopefully was a teaching game because it does look like that, at least Shinji can say he got schooled by Cho.
That glass stone on m16 bothered me all game!
Swept the leg indeed!
I wonder if Shinji crapped his pants after B16! Just dastardly. He must have felt impending doom but felt compelled to play it out and see if Chikun would screw up. I mean idk the level at which these pros can read, but I just felt the air leave the room on that play.
Gotta love that thicc influence
I was worried than instead of Q10, white played Tengen 😂
25:28 i predicted b16!!! Feels good!!!
Dwyrin, you are saying something interesting in the second minute. Though u make it apparent that you never study with ai because you would know the AI often suggests a joseki similar to move 11 quite a lot.
What a great game)
Lol, forget about that girl dwyrin, you deserve bette bruh
