As a gunner main, I appreciate the shoutout at 10:51 Many dwarves have trouble reading the gunner, and not just for shield drops. It's really crucial to anticipate grenade throws and to know where gunner even is, especially when he's shooting. Nothing more frustrating than having someone step in front of my minigun when it's nice and stabilized.

One thing to add for people coming in since this was uploaded: Update 36 (Season 2) gave a huge buff to the Pheromone Grenade. * Increased the max number of enemies that can attack a target affected by pheromones * Extended the pheromone effect duration * Enemies affected by pheromones now can fight back when attacked by normal enemies. (previously they could only target other pheromone-affected enemies) It's now much, much better and can be used more effectively to halt a group of bugs because they no longer have to fight only other pheromone affected enemies.

Been playing Scout since Update 24, so appropriate timing. Was Promoting all my classes for U25, then couldn't get me away from Scout. Fell in love with Cryos and haven't weaselled off them since! (Though I did try Pheromones the week before they were nerfed lol) Really surprised by how versatile they are though! You kinda forget after a while of gut instinct for it. Definitely looking forward to the Gunner and Drill Vids! Have yet to find a Grenade preference with it!
Mactera swarm right behind you? One freeze - ded. Breeder flying around? One freeze - ded. Hive of swarmers? Freeze before killing = no swarmers after death. And with this update - swarmer hoard freezes to DEATH. No other nade offers that much utility.

Got a scout in my team who`s also my brother and I had the joy of wathing him learn the ropes the hard way. Still cant do it myself xD now my turn. This video gives a lot of inspiration an knowledge to the most important points of interest. enemywise and hud wise, thanks for your contribution, miner. Rock and Stone!
i miss the time when grenade toss, mounting, and grabbing stuff didn't interrupt gameplay. could do all of these with just left hand and not put your weapon away
See that’s what I would like to see more with any more perks that could come down the line. Make some interesting synergies that could be amazing to pull off if 2-3 perks can combo with one another to make an effect that’s perfect for a situation.

Judging from the gameplay shown, the only build that might compete with scout’s ifg for speed would be driller’s cryo+barbed drills+vampirism, where you dive into hordes of glyphids, freeze them, and shred them to pieces, leeching back the hp you lost by diving in. Paired with an implosion epc build, you become a mobile close-quarters dps class that can live forever, so long as you’re careful about when and how you pick your engagements (and don’t run out of ammo, but that’s a rare concern).
I use pheromones to clump up monsters and then shoot them with full damage penetration boomstick build and it works really well, you can also use the m1000 with penetrations as well.
I think scout is actually one of the strongest combat classes if build/ used right. Cryo kills any flying types and praetorians basicly instantly, deepcore for fire rate and stun modded does good dps/ single target cc, boomstick is great for a) super high single dps or b) decent killer if you mod it for 30- 40 rounds and use it on normal enemies. Your aoe weakness gets offset by vampire + berserk spam (power attack wie aoe mod) or cryo nade and shooting enemies. Grappling hook ensures always a good fighting spot. Only swarmers suck! (+ i'm jelly of engis aoe)
I can't imagine using anything other than impact axes. At the very least we should get six HE nades, since they're remarkably similar to gunner's sticky grenades
Hey sorry to bother cause Idk if you have any way of telling this, but what is the GK2 build you're using at 1:58 when introducing the ifg? It seems like you've got almost no recoil so I thought it was the AI correction OC but you've got a 40 size mag as well. Not too familiar with all the OC's on the GK2 yet and this build looks super solid, lmk what it is if ya can, also great video!
Did you do some kind tech to dodge the spitballer @11:20 ? Was that AI manipulation or just maneuvering of the player hitbox? Anyway, it was a nice dodge! Also, this is a very good video. I've been doing some experimenting before, but this is likely to improve my Scout game further. I just want to say, keep up the good work.
I feel like there's some good synergy with the Breach Cutter's Inferno overclock to be used alongside Cryo Grenades. Whatever doesn't die to the Temperature Shock effect will most likely die to the instant Burn effect that it applies
IMO the current pheromone grenade is a worse LURE and cryo grenade in 90% of the situations. Cryo buys time the same way as the pheromone, and it's way more versatile and responsive. Pheromone is rather unreliable that the attraction range isn't really big, and often times you can see bugs just ignore pheromoned bugs and run at you anyways. The only times I saw decent success with the pheromone is during hectic "every man for themselves" situations and moments when you are alone and you need to distract a newly spawned swarm quick. And even then the cryo grenade would have done a ok job. I'll have to see if the buff will remedy the pheromone grenade's mediocre performance.

I use the IFG with blowthrough rounds and conductive bullets then kill everything in the grenade aoe, but I'm not sure that I can get bonus damage like this with gas recycling OC?
Wait, so the damage amp from the IFG will stack if more than one is thrown down? Or did I misunderstand, cause that seems like it would be pretty nutty.
I always see you with the dash perk, but I cant get used to clunkiness of shift double tap when this game has a lot of scenarios where you can sprint and do an action repeatedly in quick succession. What would you recommend to try to have an easier time learning the perk?
Yeah there are conflicts in situations where you accidentally activate it. The only thing you can really do is continue to use it and allow yourself to develop that procedural memory. A dedicated perk activation button would be super nice tbh

As someone who usually plays gunner but also usually walks in front of the gun, i say you keep on firing bud. Its my fault and ill get out of the way

My favorite class. You just can’t beat the mobility he has with a grappling hook and a sawnoff that launches him across the map.

You're surprisingly nimble in the air. If you just hold forward and move your camera, you can make some fairly sharp turns. Btw thanks!
The spitballer's projectile can be shot out of the air to detonate it before it reaches you, sort of like the driller's TCF plasma.

17:24 This is a common misconception. Enemies in the Glacial Strata are not actually resistant to cold, only weak to heat.
You're wrong. Swarmers, grunts and all grunt variants have 25% frozen resistance.
They also have double the freezing temperature and thaw out significantly faster.

Hoverclock, let's you float in the air if you go into focus more on the air.
the slow grenade seems useless to me. Most of the time I feel like the bugs are moving at the same speed.

a little late but, frozen targets don't take any extra damage from aoe attacks, so you'd be better off with the damage mod
