Shock Runner: The Scout's Most Shockingly Powerful Setup | Build Bite
Long time no see!
I've always really loved the utility of the Electrocuting Focus Shots OC for the M1000, but it hasn't always been the seasoned player's first choice. Over this past year or so, EFS has gotten some really nasty buffs, making this overclock really powerful, especially when built accordingly! With this build, we lean in to its strengths and mitigate its weaknesses to the best of our ability, turning it into a super versatile powerhouse of a setup, especially against high-priority bugs, and we even retain a good bit of crowd clear.
With this build, we'll be shocking targets with our primary weapon and then switching to our Zhukovs for the real damage profit against bigger bugs...

i really hate thin containment field. I want my weapons to be reliable not good if mastered. the last thing i want when there are 20 glyphids rushing me is to over heat the charge shot or wiff the over charge and get jack for my effort. my real problem is I'm not going to stick to just driller for very long so every time I'm coming back to the weapon I'm basically as square one with it.

I have recently found out that the L.U.R.E. is a fantastic tool for when you need to revive an ally, such as during a dreadnought fight.
I’ve actually been loving this build, but I’ve found the gk2 with electrifying reload also slots in nicely here and helps with ammo consumption too
Great video ! This weapon is by far my least used gun in all of DRG but i'm determined to try and get better with it.
This video inspired me to learn EPC mining and the Plasma Charger as a whole again after failing the first time (I used heat pipe which actually makes the charge window **narrower** since it’s change, go figure) and I‘m really enjoying it! Its also made me realize that the Wave Cooker isn’t as good as I thought it was, as I’ve been playing just fine without it (with the added bonus of a Mactera deleter and instant resource collector). Almost four years later and this video is (in my opinion) still the best EPC-mining guide, as you went over all the reasons why I *didnt* want to try out the EPC, and then you weighed the pros and cons of the weapon very informatively!
I miss watching this channel’s videos, they were my favorite youtube DRG content. I hope you come back soon, but if you’re doing other stuff with your life now, that’s cool too man. :)

You know those recipes that go through the author's entire villain arc-I'm sorry, "backstory"- before getting to the instructions? Like how it talks about how the writer's great-grandmother "cooked this same chicken and rice one dish meal when her husband worked at the Campbells soup company town, but they only could afford a single match and one glass 16" by 9" glass casserole dish [. . .] preheat the over to 400°F and trim the fat from your chicken thighs" ? Well imagine if the flavor text was actually relevant to the dish and explained in detail how to eat it. That's this video.
C4 Apply directly to scout.
It seems odd to take hot bullets without taking accuracy, as going for heat damage on distant targets seems like the only reason to take hot bullets over aggressive venting. But since burning hell is short ranged, I think it synergizes so much better with aggressive venting anyway. Stun is also massively helpful with this build, as burning hell and aggressive venting reward you for being right up in the mob, so keeping them stunned will protect you. If someone lacks the complimentary bulldog OC, like I do, accuracy also helps here, as you can take it on the minigun for distant foes, and instead take a max-DPS burst pistol for single target damage.. it's just limited in effective range.
realistically, the only good scout build is not with m1000, dc2k elecrifying reload 22222 (X2222) is better with conductive bullets nuk17 custom casing 11221 (1X221) weakpoint bonus damage, because m1000 cant kill swarmers and jellies, thus worse, meanwhile, elecrifying reload sees NO DIFFERENCE against grunts and swarmers, because swarmer will become a grunt. About the build in the video : EFS m1000 MUST be build like that : 13X1X (max ammo variant is better, so 13211 is my pick), and if you really curious about swarmers not dying with one bullet from nuk17, you could tried gas recycling (11211 with blowthrough) and realize that wardens and breeders and no longer killed in one nuk17 mag, so realistically, THE ONLY AMMO EFFICIENT WAY to use conductive bullets on nuk17 is to use dc2k electrifying reload,i because if not electricuting bugs, then to use the real supportive scout build with dc2k AISE or m1k hipster of m1k ASS with cryo bolts with both electric bolt or pheromone bolts, but then, scout can no longer solo a haz5 4 players scaling (even in size of a swarm) mission. (12 promotions on each class i have)
Don't take more damage in tier 1. The extra ammo is more useful to spread electricity and even without the damage up you will one-focus-shot acid spitters. Killer focus already allows you to one shot grunts and slashers.
But will it be enough to 1-shot bigger bugs like trijaws ? Because with the damage mod + electro DoT it is enough. It might not be enough without the extra damage
There is a lot of skill expression in this game as well so many playstyles. This video is a masterpiece at showcasing this

question how do you discover builds like this try to have some mix of Discovery or simply just finding perks and overclocks that work well together
For this one, I just discovered that EFS has some potential synergies with Zhukovs if you apply certain mods and so I just tried to maximize those synergies. I did the same with the FireStrike build. I don’t look at much of any builds online, but I have a couple friends who I play modded hazards with. Shock Runner & FireStrike are builds I enjoy using on modded hazards. Shock Runner isn’t particularly meta on modded hazards just because there are other options that are much more powerful. Specifically the crossbow lol. Next build is going to be more meta-oriented, especially for modded hazards

One of my oldest go-to builds in DRG. Whenever I need something reliable, this is it. I do prefer the T2 recoil/spread mod on the Bulldog instead of a second damage upgrade, can't let go of that sweet gun handling anymore once you got used to it lol
You focused on praetorians and oppressors a lot despite those being 2 enemies scout really shouldn't focus on, they're basically just big slow grunts with a little more hp. They aren't considered high value targets by most of the community...
He mentioned that this was a support build; he doesn’t want you to kill praetorians if you don’t have to, but focus shot to strip their armor and cripple them for your team

What’s the rationale for T1 damage on the M1K? It’s not improving any breakpoints and you have EFS anyway so it’s even less valuable than it normally is. Unless I’m missing something I think ammo is strictly a better choice here
@flapjackgd937 T1 dmg is normally a good pick for m1k since combined with killer focus you can one shot things like trijaws and bodyshot acid spitters. Plus it’s just less focus shots to kill things like wardens (with dmg you can 3 shot them w focus), menaces, and sting tails. Every extra bit of ttk against these enemies count because they can devastate a team in seconds if left unchecked. On efs though ammo is a good take too, since the electricity makes some of the breakpoints better (w killer focus the electricity finishes off a trijaw, no t1 dmg needed) They’re both viable.

The symbiosis of the electro M1000 and tier five Zukovs has been appealing to me, but the ammo on the M1000 kept me from trying it. This vid has convinced me to try it out.

Lol you should see what perks I usually bring. Everyone bullies me for taking hoverboots over iw, but after hundreds of hours of recording and reviewing gameplay, I pieced together that dash and HB not only save me more than my IW saves missions, but the mobility they provide keeps me out of situations where I might need to use them to begin with. IW is def a strong perk, I just don't get a lot of use out of it with my play style. Maybe more useful for me on modded hazards tho
@@PsychicSploob Hoverboots really 😭 To me it's like a greenbeard tool for the first few games where you learn to grapple. Dash is a more conceivable choice, but the cooldown of the grapple is so short that you really don't get to have use for it a lot on scout.
@@zaion8917 oh lol I never use hoverboots or dash on scout, but on everyone else, it's such a nice qol and both provide good escapes and control over all axes

Tbh i think the electric reload overclock for the gk assault rifle is so much better compared to using the m1k with the electric charge shot. It's the same electric debuff for both overclocks and hitting a grunt once with the gk and triggering the reload is always a guaranteed kill. It's just nice to have a powerful option for scout that deals with grunt crowds very effectively, 1 shot 1 kill and like 400 ammo or something total. Sure there's the wait for them to die but they're slowed down a fuckton and you're also scout, also it's not like you have to fully reload, just reload but cancel it after shooting a line through the grunts and you'll have an easier time picking off non electricfied grunts again. (Also triple bolt for the crossbow and electric shafts mod does a lot bigger burst dps to electrified enemies, though oppressors have resistance to pierce but ey, they can only be electrified with the ifg anyway.) But we'll if you really hate slashers this is pretty good for them. I guess that would be more like the shock runner as you run and gun with rapid fire.
Electrifying reload isn’t bad, but efs is far better. ER can pretty much only kill grunts; anything else (mactera, armored enemies, etc) are questionable because you have reduced ammo. Efs can shoot anything because it has blow through and plenty of ammo to use it on. You mentioned that you can kill 400 grunts if you placed all your shot perfectly. Well if m1k places all it’s shots perfectly, it can kill 400-500 WITHOUT AN OVERCLOCK using blowthrough. Plus it can pick off mactera and spitters quicker. Not to shit on your build, electrifying reload was my first oc, but once I expanded my horizons it’s been pretty hard to go back.
@@kismet4918 to be fair you can just shoot it normally at mactera, they don't have too much hp if you just hit the weakspot. Also blowthrough is a lot less consistent having to hit 4 grunts with one shot so you're probably getting closer to 200-300 with both weapons. Tbh the other overclocks are often better but idk, it's kinda lame running around with hipster and blowthrough. Also a nice thing with the gk is that you can see the electric debuff do a lot of work.

Just tried your build and it's really good. I have a build just like it but instead it has cryo minelets(1,1,2,1,1) zhukov and it may not be as good( still testing) but it definitely feels more versatile I can freely switch back and forth between the two at-will instead of shocking and then following up with the zhukovs. Hope to see you more crazy builds because this one was great.

I have a very similar build, but using a rewired drak instead of the M1k. 12311 to maximise overheats for immense ammo returns from rewiring mod, plus Overcharged PCF to electrocute praetorians and the like so the ammo-hungry draks can be used as a finisher.

I somewhat disagree with Shield Link because I don't think this build is supposed to be close to the team considering it is focused on dealing with HVTs and to some degree tanks and needs to be able to perform focus shots which slow you down, line up grunts to compensate for worse ammo economy and smaller magazine size with Blowthrough, and to have angles on weakpoints, which makes kiting and positioning more important, so I would try Dash instead, even on a Scout. Having an additional tool to kite bugs while the grapple is on cooldown is very useful. Chip damage which the shield regen is useful against is only really a problem for the Engineer, because the Gunner has his own shield and the Driller should bring either Sticky Fuel or goo most of the time anyway, both of which slow down incoming bugs. Scout is neither a static defender nor a bodyguard, he's a marksman who creates space for the team.

Yea the build looks incredibly ammo hungry, you can take out like 8 preas with the secondary before its gone and the m1000 never has enough ammo as it is let alone without the ammo mods. I just had a game with under 100 nitra found. I searched the whole thing there were only 2 spots found among all of us and the rest was from loot bugs barely got 1 supply drop, totally out of ammo by the time we sent the mine rocket up and we had to leave a guy behind because none of us had the ammo to fight the swam outside the extraction
that's the part why I dislike the m1k. Without hipster, the gun feels way too ammo hungry while lacking enough upsides
