Hello, I see this item has a usb port on the back to plug into the computer... i know this is for using the item as a midi control surface for software... sending signals to the computer... but can this also RECIEVE signals from the computer and be used to control the lights from the software or will i need to use the midi cables for that??? i rarely plan to use the knobs except for quick adjustments... i mostly want to control the lights through software... i also dont need to use this as a control surface for software... i already have one of those BASICALLY im asking: can the USB be used instead of the MIDI IN??? because i would prefer not to use a midi interface to plug into my computer... customer service from the company couldnt really tell me this so i would appreciate if you know! thanks, Joe
Hello @timkostv and all, any quick advice on how to program in movement patterns? A software can make a moving head move in, say, a bowtie pattern, but how do you make a movement pattern with this controller and save it into a scene?
Ben Rolfe David Turfrijer It does, if: 1. Your fixture has channels fully designated to each color (and the lightning would change in a liniar fashion) 2. You change the fade settings to "all" instead of "only" (default).
Hello Ben, it allows this. Using the speed fader, you are able to control the amount of time it takes between scenes. Feel free to send us a message at www.timkosaka.com/contact to continue the conversation!
@@TimKosTV ...but I suppose that this only applies to the built-in automatic shows? If I am to control the ADJ 384 with an external midi device, so as to truly be able to choose the order in which scenes are played, and to sync the lights to the music, this will not work, right?
Hey man, do you know how to set the DMX Operator up to be controlled by a keyboard midi controller? When I set it up, match the midi channel, I'm able to change the parameters and send midi notes to the Operator, however, the lowest key (all the way to the left, starts out sending MIDI note 36, then goes up from there and works just fine... for MIDI notes 36 through 52.. then that's it. So it's useless basically. But there has to be away to adjust this. I have a basic Keyboard (Radio Shack MD-992) with midi outs so I don't have many options, but when I run it through my comp it starts out at MIDI channel 1 just fine. There's no option to change which key sends which MIDI note. Not sure if it's the keyboard that's my problem or if there's a parameter on the Operator that isn't talked about in manual for setting up MIDI. Let me know if you can. Thanks!
A full concert piano has 88 keys, MIDI has 128 possibilities so you will be missing the top and bottom options when using any keyboard that can’t change octaves.
To access channels above channel 8, you need to select an alternate fixture. While DMX comes in 512 channels per universe, this board is only equipped with 384 channels. Feel free to send us a message at www.timkosaka.com/contact to continue the conversation!
If your moving heads have a pan inversion setting you will be able to have them crossing as the two lights will move opposite from one another. Might want to see if the user manual for your light has that setting or contact the manufacturer of that moving heads.
Great video and nice tips on how to organize your scenes!! You need to get a lapel mic or something, tho -- the audio is often inaudible when you're not facing the camera
the channel for each fixture will differ on the fixture. 1 might be brightness, 2 might be to make it reg,3green,4blue and so on. you have to address the fixtures and programme to know what they will control on your fixtures. he is using ADJ fixtures
Hey Pablo, for the ADJ 64B, the fixture assigned to channel 1, is a 6 channel fixture. I chose to leave channel 8 blank because of the configuration of this board. Please feel free to send us a message with additional questions at www.timkosaka.com/contact.
On this board, there are twelve fixtures with 32 channels each. You can place multiple fixtures on a "fixture". This slightly confusing way of aligning channels is unfortunately something I consider a weakness of this board. The board has 384 channels that can be used any way that works well for the user, it is just stacked into fixtures to save space on the unit. Goodwill has been very, very good to me. Found one of these still in a box for 13.49. Thought I would learn what all it does.
You even got the senior discount!

I found 'two' at the Goodwill, in a case! $44 bucks. Bought two more on Ebay-$100 bucks! All actually work.

it would have been nice to SEE what you're trying to explain
Great video thank you! Can those moving lights move into position while they're blacked out?
No.
But how did you program your scenes?
hi great video, what is. the name of those LED lights?
Does it allow fades between scenes, or does it only do sharp cuts? For example: fade from all blue on scene 1 to all green on scene 5.
I would like to know that also :-)

What moving head u are using

I really have not worked enough with Midi to answer that. If I figure something out, I'll let you know and post a video! Thanks!
Right on. I decided not to mess around. Just bought a Samson Carbon 61. That should do the trick!

I have the same board and I can't get above 8 to work. You mentioned 512+ is that a mode setting that I am missing?

Great demo. What light fixtures are those?
Hey, I have this same board. How can I cross my moving heads? Like I want the two moving heads in the middle to cross each other.
If your moving heads have a pan inversion setting you will be able to have them crossing as the two lights will move opposite from one another. Might want to see if the user manual for your light has that setting or contact the manufacturer of that moving heads.
Quick simple way to reverse the rotation, turn one fixture 180' from the other. Not exact, but gives you reverse motion with no programing
I may have missed the answer in the comments, but what lights are you using here?
ADJ Into Pocketwash & ADJ Par 64 LED
Thank you for your video
I just bought three of these and ADJ was not helpful with any kind of instructions
What about using the audio input vs. the built in mic??
Did you figure it out? How do you set the mic and set the audio input?
how many steps can be stored on each chase bank? thank you
240 scenes/steps according to the manual. Haven't tried it out though.
Great video and nice tips on how to organize your scenes!! You need to get a lapel mic or something, tho -- the audio is often inaudible when you're not facing the camera
