- We weren't ready for this. Will Jackson brought in his 2017 370Z for a set of JWT C2 cams, Z1 Ported Upper, Z1 Ported Lower Manifold, Z1 Cold Air Intakes, a set of Z1 Headers, GTR Injectors, E-85, and a dyno tune to complete the whole package. To say we were surprised doesn't cut it. Needless to say Will was very happy with the results.

300 ft lbs wheel torque from a n/a VQ??? That's INSANE! Great job guys 👍. Never thought it was possible... These engines continue to amaze!
Sasha from on point dyno made 361 lbft, and 537HP at the wheels in an NA VQ35. He also fitted an electric motor to it, making it hybrid 600+ total HP.
@@gwot Its amazing what he did to that engine. Tho cant compare it to this one since its extremely modified.
@CDon2 - Not insane as my 04’ Non-Rev DE did the same. Dyno’d at 352/348 on 93 and 363/357 on E85 on a Mustang Dyno. Tuning was done with Uprev being wheel numbers vs. crank. Very similar setup except my injectors are larger, my gear ratio being adjusted to a G37, timing, valve train and torque converter upgrade, fuel, bolt-ons, etc.
Like when I’m cruising Rev-Ups, HRs, Camaro RSs, and such are shocked. Long as you have a vision anything is possible. You just got to stay focused, ignore the doubters, and do you. 😎👍🏾
@@gwot that’s a one off build.. most people won’t see anything near that.
@@gwot yeah but that’s a fully custom race spec engine built by brian crower and JWT custom 1of1 crank shaft they’ve never used or reproduced, 15:1 compression ratio running 105+ octane. Sasha is a fucking god.
The 3.7 does sound great.
This video just sold a lot of Greddy exhuast and C2 cams
Is this possible? I have not seen many breaking the 340 WHP mark. I think I need cams. WTF
watch my newest video you'll hit 340 easy bro@@doggystyledave
doggystyledave happy dyno probably has a little to do with it lol
@@doggystyledave Do you know how long it takes to change the cams on this car ? man it's over 30 hours for someone who knows what he's doing... If it wasn't of that, I would have done this on my 370z since a long time
Qlassicrepresent over 30 hours? you’re dumb then
Damn that's nearly 911 GT3 numbers, which is insane considering that the GT3 engine is a purpose-built motor and not a mass-produced engine.
Not sure it really makes sense in terms of HP/$ given how much work is required to install the CAMS but that is some monster power for a pure NA motor.
Congrats Z1.
damn if nissan can just shred 200lbs or more out of this car it will be a perfect car to match the 911
@@talarcoj We can only hope that Nissan refresh the Z platform this upcoming year.
The FM platform has held up remarkably well but I'm sure they would have no issues cutting 200 odd lbs out of the car.
That said the Z was always more a corvette competitor, and it really needs the new Vr30 engine to compete.
@@cristianchavira8591The current version doesn't but go read up on your history on what the Z cars, because clearly your not aware of the 240 and 300zx.
It's not even close to a stock 4.0 991.2 GT3. 4.0's come from the factory with 493 RWHP. Either way, you're comparing a front engine RWD consumer sports car to a rear engine RWD track focused car that costs almost 4 times as much as a 370.
@@hecticphusion Edit: For a 991.2 with the 4.0 engine sure, 420whp range is what most see out of the 991.1 and the 3.8L engine however.
And yes I'm comparing it to that because it's impressive that a mass produced 3.7L v6 can get that close.
Thought that was clear In my first post. Lol
🤯😲😲 Speachless!! You 3.7 owners have it made in terms of making N/A power. Great vid Z1!!!
Amazing! Man if I had the cash I would go this very week for this package
Damn, great work. I was looking for my white z32 in the background. Mine was there during that time.
Drop it from 5 smoothing to 0 and you will probably gain ~ 8rwhp / rwtq.... The 5 smoothing just makes the curve look smoother / nicer. 0 smoothing is the true HP/TQ of the motor!
5 years later we got guys making 400+ whp on m5 and nitro crazy to think this platform is still improving
Literally a 370 now lol. Thats like ~450 crank

Mark Rampersad im here whats up.
433.55 HP at the crank to be exact. =)
If you would’ve added for an example: Wiseco/Brian Crower kit, how much to the wheels would you then have added on top of this NA record on a street car? With the 11.0 compression, and with the variation of bore sizes, 95 and 96 mm.
I'd like to try this on my 6mt g37 vert..

Now that's what I call great custom engineering and tuning. Awesome work guys!
Sasha’s car also runs a dry sump oil system. It was formerly a Unitech built Grand Am race car.
I would like to see what you guys could get out of a VQ DE if you throw everything you have at your disposal at it.
Sasha runs a VQ37 with HR heads.
melvin khosa Yes I knew that.
Amazing just for bolt ons, congrats y'all
Great setup. Can't wait to build one of these. What is the the music?
Did you have to upgrade any of the timing chain/tensioner components? If so, what & how
I wish the torque peak was at a higher RPM 5.7 it would be perfect, but all around smooth band and great power, congratulations guys at Z1!
No, I wish it was lower. Peak torque at 5,700rpm sounds gross.
@@Will-xp6jh I like power that climbs also after shifting you are hitting your peak torque. At a lower RPM you wouldn't hit your peak torque after shifting unless you set your gears longer. I prefer keeping the tachometer between 5 and 7 there is no need to go more than 7 max HP is reach at about 6.8 and 7.1
Looks like eps 70mm TBs aswell. This is my goal with my '14 Q60

Any check engine light with the exhaust mods?,
thats pretty much the setup i wanna do to my 350Z HR

Folks were skeptical about the JWT C2 cams. With the right mods, good things happen.
Apparently those cams really shine in the midrange and fall off up top.
@@nighthawk0077 True, but you can make adjustments to use the power. Just have to know what to do.
@@spooler7828 I am skeptical to be honest. I think Z1 is fudging numbers. Perhaps with Dyno correction factors. Hard to know as there was no "before" run. They also claimed 34whp from just their intakes.
@@nighthawk0077 No, they give you more midrange. I have a set in my motor. Fudging numbers? Hard to do on a dynojet and that is what they have.
@@spooler7828 Not questioning they give you more, the question is how much more. Anyway I'm sure that 370 runs strong. That much torque all the way from 4000 is nuts.

I see the dyno shows the STD correction factor. Did you guys record SAE corrected horsepower and torque?
ECUtek or Uprev tuned?
Sam, you better be ready for my dad and I with our 350z ;)
Nice job next challenge is to make 400 plus to wheels which would def require a build I’m assuming forged internals as it goes from vQ37- VQ40VHR
This always surprises me when people don't know the VQ engine already has forged pistons and forged crank from the factory.
@@Aeneas137 Wasn't aware of that but simply building the block up to make NA 400 plus hp was where I was coming from to tune a NA to handle that increased compression ratio I would assume the block itself would be bored out
@@philloft from what I've read the larger crank helps the torque a little and hurts the hp for a NA. Inhibits your ability to rev up fast also. FI would be a different story.
@@Aeneas137 only forged crank, everything else isn’t forged. I’ve built an old 370Z before and nothing about the internals we’re forged besides the crank. But Nissan has been doing that since the G35
What kind of results would you expext with the same set up on a vq35hr?
Im pretty set on going the stillen s/c route since that is the only kit available to the HRs other than the aam tt setup and that is $10,000 before tuning, install and motor work.
Once i added up my planned n/a build i just couldnt stand the thought of spending 6000-7000+ and thats just parts with out labor included on stuff i cant do myself. for maybe 325hp when the stillen kit with custom tune will put me in the 380-400ish with custom tune. Another plus is i should be able to install the stillen kit myself which will save me ton more money over other options.
What would y’all recommend shorty headers or long tubes
What shift knob is that?
The on point dyno 350z has a jwt fully built hr, right? Because that car is making like 400whp all motor
That's a 35HR and this is a 37VHR

Forgot to add that Will has EPS Throttle bodies as well.
No, those things are garbage.

Cams open the breath of the engine , Headers let it breathe & E85 fuel help it get the max out of the HP numbers ...
this car doesnt have headers or e85 tho...

I need to add the cams to my car.
Imagine if he had a better header/exhaust set up. He should go get fast intentions long tube headers and exhaust. 18”resonators will make it sound better too.
You should offer dollars over opinions. That would be worth far more. FI long tube headers have shown to not really make power. The Z1 headers were on the old record car. Maybe you should have at least a tiny inkling of what you're talking about before you start flapping your gums.
That torque though. So sexy lol. That’s the best part
Ummmm.....what? Pull vids needed now lol.
Absolutely insane numbers, almost 300wtq NA, holy hell!
What’s the labor cost on the cams?
Labor costs would probably be expensive. I am guessing this is a 20-30hr job. Call them and find out.
@@MelvinKhosa Yeah I remember reading somewhere it was at least 20 hours. That's a ton of money spent on labor but hey he hit the record so that's awesome.
Yeah well it was their own dyno which usually reads pretty high on the forums. We need to see a 1/4th mile run with this to see if its really making that power. Low 12's with a 112mph+ trap speed.
melvin khosa low 12s!? There’s VQs doing that already with 330-340whp. This has to be at LEAST high 11s
Luis Ramirez Of course. I was just giving reasonable times just in case the driver can't launch the car.
What would happen with ppe long tube
It would be nice a ported head to increase CFM
not for the value this gives
how much is it to install the cams?
Great work...... now throw some ITBs on there and lets see what happens
Lol no one makes ITB's for the VQHR/VHR. Needs to be a custom one and it will be very expensive.
@@MelvinKhosa some companies make itb's for this engine
Long tube Heat wrapped & triple liquid protected headers will make more constructive real world torque all the way through a torque curve than the basic generic short header this engine got.
how much is this kit
Didn’t Sasha’s 350z HR make like 400whp? HR>VHR
Deemah GZ Sasha also had headwork and ITB’s. Don’t be a fanboy. Mod for mod a vhr makes more power
Sasha has VQ37 rods, crank, custom pistons (since VQ37 ones don't fit in a HR), custom ITB setup, SGP longtubes, head porting and lots of headwork, super wild cams, the kitchen sink. Not cheap and not easy. Plus MOTEC...i.e. $$$$$.
Card Asset because they’re claiming 370z power so it doesn’t even include Sasha. Read better
This is a record for the Z1 dyno on a totally stock motor (minus the JWT cams) VHR. Comparing it to Sasha's car is like comparing Apples to Oranges. Sasha's car is has ITB's, higher compression, built bottom end, etc. Not anywhere close to what we did here.
It made more HP than Nissan's Pirelli World Challenge race cars we worked with many years ago.

Took you all guys a while to discover the awesomeness of cams. I was wondering what effect cams would have on your 400 hp package. Many were bolting on and excluding cams. An Hr should scream on cams.
The VHR has VVEL on the intake cams, the only cams are available are exhaust cams, that were only available within the last few years. JWT C2's are brand new on the market.
Lowteks 350z HR is cammed and didn’t break a record, it’s the tuning bro
When I was tuning most of you where still working with carbs. I am not surprised it was done on E85.
@@moisescristobal6 HRs don't have the VVEL, so you can replace all the cams. I'd really like to do an HR head swap on this car and see what else we can get out of it.
So to make this much power, does my car has to be on e85??
Do people perfer he heads for big power Becuase it doesn’t have vvl? Or what’s the reason? Could you shed some light on hr heads vs vhr heads
VHR heads have the VVEL. HR heads don't, so if you wanted to go to the trouble of an HR head swap, you the extra displacement of the 3.7 w/ the capability to put a big cam in the intake and exhaust, not just the exhaust as done here.
