Venezuela is screaming for the crown that year, and Brazil’s gown is phoenomenon. Philippines may have not the best gown but how she carries it is stunning. Australia’s elegance is just wow. I thought Russia or South Africa should be in Top 5 that year rather than USA.
I love the Gowns of Australia, Russia, Venezuela, Brazil, USA.
Philippines I don't like the Gown but she carries the dress very well! Stunning!

2012 was such a weird year for MU. Venezuela had it in the bag and the Q&A messed everything up for her. Philippines did such a neat all-around performance yet didn't win, and the one who arguably did the worst overall, was the actual winner (USA).

You should remember MU is not just one type of beauty, it's personality and performance mostly + Miss Philippines was really the best fit for the crown after Venezuela's mess up and USA didn't do a good job in any round, even though as a MU she was nice. Just stating facts.

Venezuela was my favorite that year from swimsuit to EG. After the Q and A, I really thought it's between Australia and Philippines but boom what a big surprise USA won!

I am not a Filipino, but I also feel the same. Philippines deserved the crown. Her performance in swimsuit, evening gown was much more better than USA. And most importantly her final answer was on point and way better than USA.
You saw the 5 of the five finalists were beautiful, but my favorite was, Venezuela, Brazil, Russia, South Africa.
Miss Brazil was just amazing: gorgeous, super elegant, intelligent and so classy. I really don’t get how and why she ended as 4th runner up!
Gotta give it to Jeannie Mai. She was saying nice things about bad gowns as well.

I really miss this kind of upbeat evening gown competition, 2019's evening gown competition is lackluster, the candidates just walked from point A to point B, the music by Selena is the only saving grace.
Of course evening gown round is my favorite for the fashion and elegance.

Try to watch and listen to an interview during the MU 2015 with olivia culpo being one of the judges... the girl who asked her might want to say something.
i love usas dress. because it didnt have any sparkles, jewelery, or designs on it it was plain and simple. usa is now a fashion influencer so it made sense that she would wear something that isnt normally the type of gown youd see at miss universe so it made such a statement. the big skirt definelty worked for her because shes so skinny she needed to add some meat to give her some substance to stand out on stage.
