Props to everyone for the amazing production of the entire award show. The presenters were great, the videos and skits were funny and well-produced, and it was a really enjoyable watch.
Designer of flamecraft is the absolute best! You feel the honour he feels for getting so much recognition for his hard 'work', or more likely a project of pure passion! Amazing to see ❤
WOW! what a massive undertaking! While it was possible to see what is required for such a massive undertaking to work without a hitch, it was truely memorable and with fantastic segments, some with phenomenal creativity. The fantastic Eric in the cold open, several of the scripted award introductions, and the amazing above board videos (albeit, having 3 of them without tying them better to the dice tower was slightly weird) All hats off to you. I think you took on creating something truely massive, possibly a bit too large, but the end result was funny, fun, creative and memorable.
Dice Tower always does a great job with coming up with new things. This was a great addition and I hope they continue it. That bit about co-hosts was hilarious. Nice to see the collaborations.
Here's my attempt to transcribe the opening number. If anyone spots any mistakes, please let me know. [Wonderland's War] The denizens of Wonderland are fighting for supremacy, By picking out the zones in which to battle for majority, I fill my bag with chips that guarantee superiority, While taking actions at the table of the Hatter's tea party. [Flamecraft] I've been a cutesy dragon going on a little shopping spree, To gather the ingredients required to enchant, you see, I spent three turns collecting necessary potions, meat, and bread, But watch my next-door neighbour then deliver all the stuff instead. [Blood on the Clocktower] I've been a Mathematician, Ravenkeeper, Slayer, Evil Twin, A Pit-Hag, Scarlet Woman, Sage, Philosopher, Librarian. In short I've found a plethora of challenge, strategy and cheer, In playing each and every instance of the best games of the year. [Heat: Pedal to the Metal] When zooming down the race track, my efficient route is very plain, As I surpass my rivals, and I shift into the passing lane, This isn't time to play it safe, and so I must say "What the heck!", And make a daring move that transfers all the Heat cards to my deck. [Return to Dark Tower] The tower glows with evil, shadow wolves infest the countryside, When skulls corrupt the sanctuary, lesser heroes run and hide, I gather my advantages so I defeat our foes with ease, Pardon while we take a break while I replace the batteries. [Planet Unknown] I've searched the lazy Susan for a perfect polyomino, Then wondered where upon my fledgling planet that next piece will go, In short I've found a plethora of challenge, strategy and cheer, In playing each and every instance of the best games of the year. [Ready Set Bet] When betting on the horses, I've discovered timing is the key, While playing with the app, or someone rolling two dice frantically. If you spend too much time to calculate the probability, Another player's betting chips will beat yours to the board, you see. [Wayfarers of the South Tigris] I hoard Land and Water Tags, and race across the Journal Track, Then claim another Space Card before taking all my own dice back. [Foundations of Rome] I enjoy the sense of building up the Roman streets myself, Even if the game box takes up an entire Kallax shelf. [Endless Winter] I've taken on the role of palaeolithic creatures out of myths, To build all of my player boards, camps, villages and megaliths. In short I've found a plethora of challenge, strategy and cheer, In playing each and every instance of the best games of the year.
Under Flamecraft: "deliver", not "delivery" Under wayfarers: I think its "my OLD dice back" not "my own dice back" Under foundations of rome: "takes", not "take"
@@JorWat25 I think he's blending the d in old and dice and it's becoming closer to "my ol' dice back". Not that it really matters. Well done in your transcription. Edit - ah turns out I'm wrong! Great job!
@@manuelkooijman5757 the funniest part of this show was Jason rambling for minutes as the winners approached the mic. The skits were way too on the nose or cheesy except Zee and that 1 dude with brown hair
HOLD UP?!? I think the most important thing here is: the DICE TOWER procured 5 copies of Heat? (for the bags) I haven't found a single copy here in the US for like six months.
Can't wait for Honey Buzz Fall Flavors expansion, Leaf, Trolls & Princesses, and Dreadful Meadows all scheduled for this fall. I pledged all 4 deluxe editions on Kickstarter. That's 4 stellar titles all set to drop Q4 of this year. 2023 is hands down one of the best years for boardgames
Does the opening mean the DT musical will happen in the near future? 😊. Congrats to you all for the production of the show. Some hiccups but overall well done! Jason editing his intro for Justin was great. And the prerecorded bits were awesome. Bravo to all the winners and nominees!
It would be interesting to see a retrospective of how well previous award winners have held up and if, in hindsight, there was a game more deserving of winning in any particular year. For instance, would you still consider Dead of Winter to be the 2014 Game of the Year?
Looking forward to Spiel as well!!! This video helped already with finding some new interesting titles! My Island (especially if I should go for that or My City haven’t played either) Kinghill!? Cosmoctopus!! ❤
Foundations of Rome winning best production value when it costs $250 for it to be impressive against Endless winter which is an absolute steal at $60 is probably the biggest snub in this award show. Flamecraft winning best art over Wonderlands War being a close second...
Thanks!
Absolutely wonderful. Please do it again every year. Utter quality.
Props to everyone for the amazing production of the entire award show. The presenters were great, the videos and skits were funny and well-produced, and it was a really enjoyable watch.
I was absolutely floored by the opening song. Dice tower manages to one-up itself all the time and I don’t know how.
Thank you all so much. Brilliant!
WOW🎉! Eric deserves an award 🥇 congratulations to the DT team, still not sure how you do it ALL 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Eric Summer is a national treasure! Excited to watch this.
- Eric’s Mom.
@@DukensteinA1 salty loser
Nah. His mom would know it’s “Summerer”
This is the best Awards so far! Great job to everyone involved!
And Eric, I expect a new rendition every year. That was phenomenal! 🎉
OMG .. that Chris and Mike segment :D :D :D definitely needs to be a real thing
More meaningful to many of us than the Oscars!
And more entertaining too. 😃

Eric. That opening was. INCREDIBLE.
Friggin rad lists! 🔥🔥🔥
Grant Lyons set on board games and gen con was amazing! So hilarious! “That’s not Roots fault that’s your friends fault”
Shame he thinks shouting a punch line adds to the humour.
WOW! what a massive undertaking!

Great job! Really making this award show into something to watch as well as appreciate all the games nominated.
That skit complaining about cohosts was so hilarious!!
Dice Tower always does a great job with coming up with new things. This was a great addition and I hope they continue it. That bit about co-hosts was hilarious. Nice to see the collaborations.
Great production! Now come on Days of Wonder, print enough Heat: Pedal to the Metal games to meet demand!
Great Show. A lot of effort was put into the production, and it's appreciated
Thanks for recording and uploading. Great job
The Awards that dont make the cut section was absolutely hilarious, well done there.
Between the opening number and Grant Lyons' stand-up comedy... WOW.
From the opening note I was floored! Phenomenal writing and performances! Tony nomination is assured! 😂
Do they have nominations for best rhyming? lol
Grant. You get us gamers so well! You nailed your set/presentation! GREAT JOB!

The song was sooo fun!
I was grinning ear to ear for the whole show. Great awards, fun skits, good people and the announcement of a hall of fame award. Bravo Dice Tower!
Superb!! What an intro! 👏👏👏 Love to see this, will rewatch it many times 😂
You guys took it to the next level! That was great!
❤❤ This is amazing, the crew has done so well!!! Well done!!

Very well executed by the DiceTower folks! Excellent games and magnificent winners. You couldn't have gone wrong with any of them...
That seinfeld inspired bit between zee and leif was brilliant!
Man you guys did such a great job on this! Well done!
Thank you all so much! This made my day. 👏
I'm gonna watch this opening so many times!
Sometimes arguable but much better choices than Spiele Des Jahres. The show is top notch. Great stuff guys!
Loved hearing my music on this guys! X
Jason Levine, the counting machine 😺
Excellent awards show, so entertaining and funny. Hall of fame a great idea.
A truly great live show, was very happy to be there
What a fabulous awards ceremony! 🤩❤
Surprised there was no mention of Tiletum or Revive anywhere.
Great job everyone! I'm so greaful for the boardgame community!
You guys are fabulous!
A really terrific show! Well done!
There are a lot of creative, talented people at dice tower. Really fun stuff
What a great and entertaining awards show
i wonder if it was a strategic move that Chris' mic was off
Laughed so hard for the Dice Tower hall of fame announcement skit. Poor Mike 🤣. Also, the energy drink would've been an instant buy! 1:27:39
I love how you made this long show really entertaining
Guys just wanna say you did an amazing job with the show
Congratulations
!!!!
Turing machine, splendor Duel, akropolis, Heat pedal to the métal. Good job french team🇨🇵
Wow. Serious skills guys. This was great.
The joke about toms kids was very funny. A well crafted joke.
Wonderland’s War is my personal favorite of all the games included. So fun to play, so beautiful to look at, and amazing replay ability!
Thank you Zee… great skit
And the award for best comedic timing goes to Mike and Chris. In the video and on stage, they have comedic timing and that is pretty hard to pull off.
Zee and Jason is way funnier lol
@@LoftOfTheUniverse, I am sorry but I don’t find Jason remotely funny. Zee is funny, I agree on that.

Anything that starts with Gilbert & Sullivan gets an automatic 👍🏻
That was just amazing from Eric, props.
The clapping audio sounds like a pack of dogs aggressively lapping up water.
An entertaining show! Congrats to the winners and nominees.
Really liked seeing Grant Lyon there! Opening song reminded us of Reboot's final episode, loved the lyrics and he nailed the speed!
Brandt came prepared... he read Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Always carry a towel!
Well done Dice Tower and Gen Con!
I think all the games were well deserving of their nominations!!!
Excellent production!!! Polished but impromptu at the same time.
Why do I get such a kick out of watching Eric Summerer…. Prancing around the stage.
I would like to nominate this video for best gaming awards show hosted by a man with a hat and tie.
Incredible show, guys. This really feels like The Oscars for board games.
I would have picked Weather Machine for Best Artwork and Production.

Love getting that whiff of Panama Canal. 🎉❤

You guys should definitely do more board game skits. Hilarious!
Three minutes in and this is already the best video of the year!
just so wow. well done!

Great show all around!
It was alot of fun to watch ! I have alot more games to buy now .
I was surprised there was no "Family Game" of the year category thou.
Family game can be so subjective. Lots of these games can be played with the family.
I wonder if the Best Family game transitioned to Best Welcoming game?
Fiiiiiiine. I just ordered Flamecraft, u guys happy?
This was great! Awesome job, especially Eric, Mike, and Travis.
Is there a link to all the previous award videos?
Great shortlist
I got to see it live!
Is there a summary of the winners somewhere?
