I would absolutely LOVE to see a template for the “Holy Grail Trojan Rabbit “. They all look fantastic, but that rabbit is something I didn’t know I needed.
Really awesome towers. My only opinion/critique is with your acrylic tower: If there's ever a rev.2, would be nice if you could move the switch itself into the base and use an acrylic rod to push the switch. This would help clean up the aesthetics by hiding the black switch and the black and red wires. Other than that, still an awesome tower.
My first dice tower was a pringles can with skewers punched through the sides I added hot glue to the sides to give it a rock like texture and painted it black an then off gray dry brushed on the sides. It worked well enough.
@@Iliketomakestuff as I said it worked well enough my second or was a pringles can with cardboard stairs a hole cut out the side and lack paint like a dark tower to go against my light tower.
Any chance you'll be building a DM's screen that matches the table? I would love to see your take - especially with some embedded magnets and accessories! Loving these TTRPG-inspired videos!
I liked your tower, if I made it my own, I would have used speaker wire with clear insulation for the switch, and given it a landing platform, like many of your contemporaries with a fancy clear acrylic hinge so it could fold for transport. Maybe thrown in a rechargeable battery. Overall nice work everyone.
Always thought the main purpose of a dice tower (at least my reason for wanting one) was to keep the dice contained. Making sure they don't roll off the table or onto the game playing surface (possibly knocking over minis and pieces). Also adds some cushion so they aren't so loud rolling on a table.
Make a "Dice Blender" ? A kitchen blender with a soft silicon blade that is super safe for fingers and dice..... A slow spinning motor and when it stops, the dices drop down and out ? :P
Sweet towers! I made a dice tower with two cardboard faux books boxes from Michaels (which I decorated to look like spellbooks from Yu-Gi-Oh). Now I'm remembering all my other tower ideas I gotta try.
Dice towers are great, there are so many fun possibilites of what to shape them as to fit a particular theme. Over on my channel I made one in the shape of a bird house for the board game Wingspan.
I really like the Mario pipe the best, it's simple but not too simple, and it's just the right size. What'd be really neat for a second revision, add a little Mario or Luigi figurine at the top that plunges the dice into the pipe to roll it.
Those are nice. In my efforts to stop spreading my gaming stuff all over the table, I built a gaming box with a dice tower in the lid. There's also a rail to prop up index cards or spell cards I need to be able to reference. The bottom part has the dice tray to catch dice from the tower and several compartments. One holds pens and pencils. One holds index cards (the lifeblood of gaming). There's a little niche for post-it notes (great for noting conditions and whatnot), and a compartment to hold dice and/or minis. I made it big enough to hold a couple standard Chessex plastic dice containers, which can also be converted to mini transport cases with a little poster tac. It keeps my dice, player notes, and supplies contained in a space about a foot wide, and (mostly) stops my dice from ending up on the floor. I might add feet that lift it up off the table. That way, I could slide my character sheet under it when I don't need it and save a little more space. That'd make it a bit more of a pain to transport, though.
Not long ago you mentioned those acrylic hinges on the podcast and how you've never had a reason to use them and here you are. Awesome project! Diy dice towers.
"So this is a cool thing that I found on Amazon years ago and I bought them just in case I would ever have a need for them. And today's the day! Now I just have to find them." I FEEL SEEN! 🤣🤣 Love you Bob!
Would you ever consider doing a meet and greet? MAV is a channel I follow, and he did one at a bait and tackle shop in his hometown. Not saying you should do it in your hometown (safety reasons), but it would be awesome if Home Depot sponsored a meet and greet. Teddy Decker....get on it!!! BTW...I bought your fusion 360 course and think you did a great job. You want another one? Make an Arduino, raspberry pi coding type course. I buy that for sure.
Nice video! I’d be interested in test results. A) Drop a die in with a given side facing up. B) Record what is rolled. C) Repeat 1,000 times. In this way, one can test whether or not a dice tower actually produces random rolls.
Mrs. Bob says, over dinner “what did you do today dear? Work on the car? Put together a podcast? Search out some new sponsors? Bob says, “no. I made a dice tower to play games with. “ Mrs. Bob says, “you need to get a job. “
Hi. Got a question, but not about the towers(as cool as they are) I would like to know about the White knife blade you use when scoring the acrylic for your tower. Is it just for acrylic? Is it sharp? Oh yeah, where can I get some? Lol
I really like all towers. With Bob's tower, I think either an optical switch or a microphone would've been better suited to trigger the LED's, rather than a regular momentary limit switch.
@@hoguemr Microphones/vibration sensors would definitely be a bit more tricky to get to work reliably. Fortunately, the acrylic can transfer vibrations quite well, so a microphone could even be hidden in the base, as long as it's mounted directly to the acrylic. Might be a bit more difficult to get working properly, but it would also allow for the tower to be completely clear, without wires. Another option could be mounting the entire thing on a stain gauge (weight sensor) and have it trigger when it senses a significant weight increase when the die is dropped in.
The shelves inside could use a lip at the end. Nothing more than a couple millimetres, just enough to force the die, especially the D4, to flip over in some way
I’ve watched several dice tower how to’s and the one flaw I see in the baffle type is it you drop the dice in the “wrong” spot it will completely bypass the first baffle.
When he said LED matrix I thought he was going to build a dice tower with a camera that can see when you roll a nat 1 or nat 20 and change colours accordingly
Bob! Is your logo available as a standalone PNG or even svg? This video has inspired me to design you a special ILTMS set of dice and when I'm able to get more silicone I would *love* to get them made, printed, poured, and sent your way!
I printed it a few months ago. It's pretty great! (Though hers definitely looks better... I printed mine in Purple and then painted the walls gray and... that was it.)
The Rapunzel one is actually a free model you can 3D print from Thingaverse (I have the same one sitting on my shelf)... it isn't Rapunzel-themed by nature, so I loved her creativity there, but when I saw it, I was like "Hey! I recognize that!!!"
Well, now, uh, Launcelot, Galahad, and I, wait until nightfall, and then leap out of the rabbit, taking the French by surprise - not only by surprise, but totally unarmed!
I laughed when you called vellum "a kind of plastic-y paper". Vellum is a processed calf skin for writing on it. Paper vellum is another thing entirely. :) But as always, great projects. Stay awesome!
Sweet! Great final products all around. I have that Fate's End dice tower, too. Also went with the purple roof. Awesome print and paintjob! Just a quastion, would you expect any issues with the acrylic bonds possible cracking over time? Most of those joints do suffer repeated impacts and I've always wondered about durability when solvent welding.
These do look really nice, yours included. But if I were to do the acrylic one, I'd surround it in rough, jagged cut(though obviously sanded to prevent cuts) pieces, coming to a point at the top, to make it look like a crystal that I'm throwing my dice into. But that's just my take.
Very cool video today Bob and the team. This turned out very well there. Hopefully you get great use out of it for many years to come Bob. Can't wait to see more videos soon. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work BoB. Keep making. ClampChamp. God bless.
