The chainmail dice pouch reminds me of an epic item I homebrewed for my players a while back. It was a flail that critted attacks on a 1 & 2, not 19 & 20. It was an Epic Flail.

I don't think this is necessarily a plot twist, but it was definitely a twist in my campaign. We had a fat guard who the team killed (halfling, drow and human variant) and they stole his uniform and all 3 of them fit into it (made sure that they were roughly the same weight combined as the guard was) as a disguise. What they did though, was instead of one on top of the other and escorting prisoners, the human took the right leg hole and right arm hole, while the drow took a left leg hole and arm hole, with the halfling holding on as the stomach. Not only did they deceive the other guards, they almost deceived the guard captain. When Captain realized what was happening, he was swiftly killed and beheaded by the crew, only to use his head as a puppet to relay that "everything was okay" to the guards running down the corridor to help their captain. They believed him and the team got away...
It was that point I decided, no matter what I will do for prep and trying to come up with every scenario that could happen with consequences and rewards, let the team lead the story how they see fit, consequences and rewards can always be improvised.
    EDIT: 5e system

I think every table should have at least one dice tower or dice tray. They can be both practical and stylish.

So the D&D I am in hasn't been able to start yet, but as the one who did basically all the virtual art for the DM, I was allowed to know what was going to happen. The biggest plot twist is going to be that the DM is the final boss and has made clones of all main party members that have their EXACT stats at that moment. same level, hp, dmg, abilities, items, everything.

the one thing i keep with me either online or in real play is a dry erase board.. i can mark down HP, MP, ammo, spells .. what ever i want to keep in track with, i found small ones for under $5 and have markers with erasers on them, saves the clutter of note paper and can color code numbers to keep count of anything that are non stop fluctuating numbers

This is a plot twist but not sure it would help in a video... The setup is that a noble had asked us to go kill a dragon. He wanted to be there and take the credit but our party would do the killing. While setting this up at his keep we were signing contracts that would leave us very well off if we succeeded. In real life one of our party was a little drunk, this wasn't unusual (lets call him Bob). Bob was generally being difficult and dominating the DM's attention. He forced a situation where he rolled for a better contract. The new contract entitled him to half of the nobles lands and money. He rolled very well and got it. Meanwhile I (a thief illusionist) rolled to switch the contracts so I would in fact get that reward. Bob was pretty bad at separating his personal knowledge from his characters knowledge so I did this via messaging on the laptops we all had at the table. Fast forward to right before entering the dragons lair. The noble, after seeing his men get slaughtered by some serious resistance we encountered, runs away. He heads back to his castle leaving us to do the deed. Fast forward again to near the end of the battle with the dragon. We had done some serious damage but really didn't know if we could even win. The entire party was very close to death and in fact should have died if not for some incredible dice saves. My thief was pinned to a rock by the dragons tale and a stiff wind would have killed me when I decided to use a "fate" point that I had saved the entire campaign.... Did I use it to save my life? No, I messaged the DM that if I was still alive when the killing blow was struck, I was using my fate point to guarantee a successful cast of illusion. A little more setup here. We were in a hollowed out valcano shape, so a round arena with very tall rock walls on all sides. One of our party refused to lie and say the noble had slayed the dragon, the noble had ran off, and I stood to make some serious loot if I could only get the contract filled, the next dragon action is going to kill at least on character, Bob's character is our only chance. On his very next attack, he delivered the killing blow. The twist: My illusion was the moment the killing blow was struck, in stead of falling dead, the dragon would lift its head to roar, while from the sky carried by a great eagle the noble would drop onto the dragons head burying his sword into the dragons brain. The eagle would then swoop down, pick him up and carry him way out of sight over the rock cliffs. And that's what everyone saw. Bob was most displeased at being robbed of the killing blow on the dragon, and later when he found out I had switched the contract... LOL yeah that wasn't good either. I really wasn't trying to pick on him, it just ended up that way. Hope someone finds this funny.. Sorry its so long.

I'm too extreme for these items. I have a d6 that is solid marble 3 inches on a side. I tend to tell the DM, "It's a 6 or your table gets it" Then there are all my other massive dice. Nice as they are hard to lose if fallen on the floor. They won't fit under much and won't disappear through floor grates etc. Plus you can read the numbers from a distance.
