Well done on all your beautiful designs. I don't crochet for resale anymore, people just don't appreciate the time and effort that goes into making an item and still try and wangle a lower price on something already priced waaaay below its value. I get the comment "but its homemade" and I retaliate "but its designer" 😁😁 Crochet Love from South Africa
Hello! Love your comment! All so true and well said. Similar experiences here. Even with those who appreciate the value, still can’t get the time out of it. Fortunately, I make and sell jewelry too, to help offset. (I have another video coming soon on selling and pricing!) I’ve minimized the amount of shows I do, and will soon retire from that altogether. Focus more on my RUclips channel 😊
@@cabinfevercrochet Great stuff ... look forward to seeing more
I agree, I was pretty disheartened at my last couple of shows hearing things like “so and so could make that for me for free…” and “that would be cheaper at Target” people who dont create have no idea how much time is involved.
That's really infuriating! The seller should direct them to the site for the pattern and tell them to make it themselves.😡
@@asdt2858 asolutely and wouldn't you rather be wearing something unique and beautiful than something that HUNDREDS of other people have as well
I was just starting to crochet things to sell and I've already decided its not worth it, no matter how much people 'Ooh' and 'Ahh' at what i make they just don't want to pay a fair price. So ive switched over to teaching beginner crocheting lessons. Much easier! I still get to crochet and i get to spread the joy of seeing people learn the craft!
That’s fantastic you found another way to share your creativity! Getting paid more of what it worth, and having fun with it, too! 👏🎉💗
I only crochet for family, and the first thing that came to mind when I came across this video was how very kind of you to devote such time to tutorials, and helping those who make to sell. Such a sweetie! ❤
I started out that way, and eventually progressed; since I love to teach and share! Wonderful having this forum to do so; and meet so many wonderful folks like yourself! Thank you for being part of my RUclips family. 💕💕💕
@@cabinfevercrochet.howdy from Wellington;NEW Zealand. Just wanted to congratulate you on your page.....love yr crochet work.look 4ward to more❤❤❤🎉😊
@@donnaharris9381 Hello Donna, and thank you! Wow, all the way from New Zealand, how wonderful! 😃
I’ve been doing craft shows for a little over 40 years. I keep thinking about retiring, maybe someday.
Wow! That’s a loooong time!! I keep talking retirement from it also; but after a while, I miss it. Definitely cutting back though. 😅
I love to crochet and i have never wanted to make to sell, because i saw myself sitting day after day making the same thing, and i am just not that person. But by your video i see that i could make just a couple or at most a few things and make each enough different that i wouldn't mind the repitition. And by making several different items I can draw more attention to my offerings. There are always times when we need a bit extra, and i am NOW looking forward to making some goodies to sell. And boy do i know that people never think of the time and effort needed to make something! But it would be rewarding to have people appreciate them. it is very generous of you to share your experiences with us. And i really appreciate it!!!! Thank you so much!
I'm more than happy to pass along some of my life experiences that may be of help to others. So nice hearing your thoughts on the subject, too. I also like variety, and not too much repetition. Just have fun with it; but be careful not to become a factory, cranking things out, which can lead to burn-out pretty fast. Hard on the body, too. I suggest pacing yourself, take breaks, and keep it to a level that's comfy for you. 😃
Thank yu for the advice. I sort of caught that 'burn out' comment in your video. i took it to heart

You are awesome! Thank you for the video. I hope you continue to do well and be well.
You are so kind! It was my pleasure, and I’m glad you liked it. Thank you for the well wishes, and the same for you. 💖
Thank you! Such great ideas. So nice of you to share.
You are so welcome! My pleasure, and really glad glad you like them! 😍
All are beautiful! My first time here but it will not be my last!
So wonderful and appreciated!! 🥰
Love all, they are beautiful thank you.
Thanks so much!! 😊
You just popped up on my feed . I love the things you've made. I mainly knit although I learned to knit and crochet around the same time when I was 8 years old (I'm 70 now!!). I recently started to crochet again so I've been watching videos because I'm a bit rusty. So glad you appeared to help me improve. New subscriber. Love from the UK.
Hi, and thanks so much for your wonderful and heartwarming comment. Always extra exciting meeting someone either new, or coming back into fiber arts! I first learned to knit about the same age as you. Then at 13 learned to crochet, and all I’ve done since until a few years ago, when I had the itch to dabble with knitting again. I’m really glad to know you’re enjoying my videos and they’re helping you. Thank you for subscribing, and letting me know how you found my channel. I’m in Northeast Washington state, if you haven’t seen a video of me mentioning that yet. 💗💗💗
THANK YOU for these inspirations!
Glad it helps and happy to share! 😍

That’s wonderful to hear! Thank you!! 😍
Happy to have found your channel!
Thank you! Me, tooo!! 😍
I like all your work its as good as my mother-in-law from Wisconsin. Oh my motherinlaw and fatherinlaw loved the lakes up north.
That is so sweet of you. Thank you. I’d love to see your mother-in-law‘s work! How nice they enjoyed the lakes also. 😊
Yes all so cute and beautiful
Thank you so much! 🥰
Hello ❤ so nice to see you Best of luck at the market
Hi Wendy! Good seeing you too. Thank you!! 😊
I am glad I ran into this video 👍🏻
Oh thank you! Hope it helped. 😍
Very much so. I get how you feel about churning out a product and how you just would rather love crochet 👏🏻☺️
Luv those lip balm holders.
Thanks! They’re fun! 😃

Thanks for watching! 💖
Love all of your crocheted items. Think I will check out your bracelet pattern.
Fantastic, thank you!! 😊
Nice items, thank you for sharing.
Thank you!! 🌺
You are so generous to just share your patterns and only want to be credited. You have some unique and fun items. I've been looking for a hat pattern like that for myself for AGES!!! ❤
Wow, that’s so sweet and thoughtful! Thank you very much for saying. I’m thrilled you’ve found my hat pattern too! 😍 Fun to make and wear!!
This is so lovely of you to share all your ideas & tutorials.I know markets vary but was wondering if you could mention how much you ask for your items. The formula of materials+ hrs( time) plus hourly wage is rarely fairly seen. Some people want a lot for nothing & its so disheartening.I hafe crocheted for 48 years since I was a child & people always say my crochet is so beautiful & I should sell my items but know I'd probably never get paid what the items are worth. I've found assembly line crocheting several items at a time makes following patterns so much faster but even then as you said cranking out items takes a physical toll. I can attest to that with my Fibro,MS,Sjogrens,Spinal stenosis, and arthritis. I now can only do a bit at a time.
Thank you for sharing and I feel your items/ patterns are fantastic.💕🧶☺️
So heartwarming you’re enjoying what I share. It truly inspires me to spread my wings even farther. Here’s the link to my Pricing & Selling Tips video, I uploaded today. I hope it helps. All you said is so true. Yet there are also those who appreciate and understand what goes into it, and will gladly buy from you. And I personally understand the toll this kind of work can take on the body, as well. I I’m scaling back on shows, for that reason. Still fun to do now and then. 💗

Just discovered you, let me say that, wow, your works are so amazing. A big hug from Olga - Italy.
Hello Olga, from Italy! So happy to have you here! 🥰
Seeing a review of your makes reminds me that I have patterns and saved tutorials to make.
That’s great, and funny!! 😅
Hi! I really enjoyed your video and appreciated very much because I have been trying to sell my bags online, on Etsy, and I haven't had even one sale! But your video gave me hope in the future because I really love crochet and I never want to quit, I believe in this product and so I just wanted to thank you again for giving me more hope.❤ I can't really do craft shows because I have to take care of my elderly mother and she can't sit in the craft show all day it would hurt her. That being said, and after watching your video, I know that someday I will be okay. Thanks again😅
Hello! I’m so glad it was helpful and gave you some hope and inspiration for the future. Etsy can be a tough one. Everything and anything goes on there now. Whereas years ago, was only handmade. Even then, my sales were far and few between. That was when I had jewelry, only. It’s been better since having a RUclips channel, having more exposure. I do understand, first hand, the involvement, personal limitations, and toll it can take, caring for a loved one. Perhaps you can get orders from friends/family. Get some business cards made, with your Etsy shop link and email address. Give them out to everyone you know, and ask them to pass them along, to everyone they know! If there are some nice shops in your area, who’ll accept local handmade on consignment, could be another avenue for you. Give them your cards as well! (As long as you get your price out of it and their % is reasonable.) Just remember, it all starts with one! One thing I’ve learned in life, is it is about change. Stay strong and resilient, and BELIEVE that you ARE okay. 💗
Watching from Australia, what beautiful designs!
Wonderful, thank you! 💜
Wow. I’m pleased to meet you… I’m a local Native American- Lummi Nation. Hope to see you when I make it to one of the fairs. 😅😊
Oh how nice to have you here! Small world! Thank you sharing your local heritage. I love knowing that, with great respect, and would really enjoy meeting you. The 13th was our last market day of the season...reopens next year, mid-May. 💗

All your work is beautiful. I like so many of your things. I learned to crochet when I was eight, my grandmother taught me. She couldn’t read the patterns because she only read and spoke Spanish . I helped her with the pAtterns. I would like to make some of your things as gifts. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! How wonderful your grandmother taught you! I love when one generation passing a craft down to another. And that you helped her, also! So happy you want to make some of my patterns! A new tutorial, coming soon! 💖
Thank you for sharing your beautiful patterns. That is very generous. There are quite a few I would like to make for myself.

Thank you so much for your wonderful post. I love all of your items and plan to make several of them. I am what is best described as a part-time crocheter so really enjoy small projects for gifts to family and friends. I live on the "other" coast in Virginia but have visited Washington and love the beauty of the mountains and lakes. So happy to find your channel.
Hello, and thank YOU, for such lovely and heartwarming sentiments. So happy to have you here! 🥰 Wonderful you want to make several of these items! How nice you've been out west. I'm originally from Virginia, until I was (almost) 13! Terrific memories and a very beautiful state, too. ☺
Thanks for sharing! I would love to crochet for farmers markets! That's a dream I have!
My pleasure! I’m happy to pass along anything that might be of help. It’s fun to work the market, meeting so many nice and interesting people each week. I could tell stories on the crazy lowball prices, some want or expect to pay; but I think you’ll get that anywhere. And for the most part, those who come, look for, and appreciate handmade items. I hope it works out for you, beyond your wildest dreams! 🌻🙌🌻
What a wonderful backdrop Helene, it looks so calm and peaceful there. I so enjoyed seeing all the beautiful items you have for your craft fair. I would love to just run my fingers through all that gorgeous crochet. You do such fine work, I hope too that you aren't hurting your hands. I love your Dewdrop shawl, that's a great idea to wear it as a gaiter. I wish you much success at your craft fair, take care my friend!
Thanks, Cheryl! Would be lovely sitting by the lake, crocheting together and being inspired by each other's project! I'm still working on new patterns. Just taking me longer, while going easy on my hands. Temps near 100 tomorrow where the market is; so I'll be home enjoying a glass of iced tea, by the fan! 😅

Beautiful work.
Thank you so much 😀
Wow! I love all your items! I'll have to try the bracelet pattern. I work at Michael's and I love seeing the young kids getting excited about making bracelets; yet, I fear they'd ask a question on how to do them. I can't really answer since I've never done one myself and don't have the concept in my head until I do make one. I have done several craft fairs, years ago, selling my paintings. I did well then. I've been knitting hats and socks for the family lately. I also knit for charity occasionally. I'll probably try the craft shows again next year once I'm settled. Thank you for sharing all your unique designs. Take care. ❤
Thank you so much! 💜 The bracelet is fun to make, and works up quickly…once you have one down. I also love seeing younger generations getting into crafts! You sound very multi-talented. Wonderful you knit and paint, and did well selling! 👏 I double a little in knitting. Verrry sloooowly! 😅
Wow beautiful items. Thank you for sharing!

So many gorgeous items!! I did look on your Etsy shop and I think you are underselling yourself! You do lovely work and the patterns are beautiful. (I live in Lacey WA) You have a good attitude-don't push yourself. Crocheting needs to be fun. Really enjoyed your video.
Hi Charlotte, and thank you so very much! I appreciate your lovely comment and input on everything. I’ve considered going up a little on Etsy; since they take 20% off the top. I just looked up Lacey. Pretty area and climate seems quite inviting. And close to Mount Saint Helen’s. Wow, what a view! 💗🙌💗
I started an etsy to sell crochet items. Everyone always telling me i should sell. So after 20 years I started an i haven't sold a thing. I think ill go back to giving things away. I just love the hobby and learning new patterns and giving away. Nice channel. I look forward to making some of the shawls. Ive been on a sweater and granny square bag kick.
@@gavintiegirl So sorry, just seeing your comment. Etsy had been a more challenging place for me to sell also. Until after I started my YT channel, with written patterns. I haven’t listed any tangible crochet items (yet). I’ve had my jewelry up before RUclips, and sales were hit & miss. I’ll be listing more items, now that I’m slowing down on shows. Will be interesting to see the difference. Now that my channel is happily gaining more momentum. Gifting and donating is always good too! 💗
Great view. Pretty bracelets. Thanks for sharing all the good stuff.
Thank you! Hope you’ll make one for yourself! 😍

Hello, another E. WA desert dweller here. I LOVE those bracelets. I don't know how you guys do it, making stuff for fairs and such. I make one or 2 of something and I'm done. I just can't make one item over and over again. Hahaha It's the same with painting, paint one or two pics of the same thing and I've had enough, ready to move on. I'm crocheting a wildly colorful granny square blanket right now that I'm hoping to sell when all is done and I'm happy with it but......I'll probably end up giving it to someone, another reason I can't sell at fairs hahaha I'd rather gift a item than sell it. Best of luck at your next/last fair.
Hello There! Desert dweller, ha ha! I’m more northeastern; but with this heat and dry air, sure feeling like it! 😅 Overall, I do prefer variety. Keeps things interesting and helps prevent burn out. I do have some favorite patterns, and those I enjoy making over and over. I’m winding down on the craft shows, yet with everything I make, will probably have enough gifts for everyone for the next 10 years! 😂
Wow! You are amazing! Just found your channel.
You are so kind, thank you! I’m beyond happy you’re enjoying what I share here. 😊
Omg , gorgeous! You are so kind sharing. If I make themand sell them, I'll be sure to have a sign saying you designed them, with your YT channel. ❤🎉
Wow, that is so generous and kind of you! So appreciated and inspiring. Thank you! 😊
Thank you for this generous video. Among your many elegant designs, I love the winter weather "baseball cap" design best. Just think how many people you have kept warm (and attractive!)
That’s so kind of you to say! And I appreciate it a lot. Very cute about keeping people, warm and attractive! 😀 It works up well in various types of yarns. Easy to adjust the hook size accordingly. I hope to have the written pattern for it up this Fall.
@@cabinfevercrochet I look forward to seeing the written pattern. Your design shades the wearer's face nicely. I also like that it is more elegant than sporty.
@@ZebaKnight Oh, thank you, again! You have such a nice way of expressing yourself. I figured more facial coverage needed for the winter elements. I made one for an order last week, in all cotton variegated, and will show it when I release the pattern. Hoping October sometime. 😃
You have so many fun looking items. I don’t do craft fairs,,but they make great gifts. I’m retired and disabled so I have nothing but time. I really want to give them a go.😊
Hi! I’m so glad you’re feeling inspired and want to make some too! 😍 So nice to hear, thank you. I’m sorry you have disabilities; but sounds like a positive attitude and being creative to help along the way. 🌟

Thanks very much for sharing, I was very fascinated by the designs , color and beauty.
That’s so nice, thank you! I love that you were fascinated by it. 🥰
My friend, what a great way to get the Fall Craft Show season started! So many
of our YT followers will be looking for some pretty projects to sell, and take
orders too! I will be sure to share your link because Fall is closer than you think.
Of course sitting by a cool lake is a game changer, so enjoy it! LOL! Smiles from J.
It seems too early for Fall to be around the corner; but that it is! Good to get a head start on projects for it anyway. I had a nice swim after I signed off. The water felt great and sooo relaxxxing! Always a game changer for me! Glad you enjoyed being there with me too! Thank you for sharing and caring, my friend! 😍
Just found your channel and what a lovely lake. What’s it’s name? The only lake I know in Washington is Lake Sammamish. However I do know there are a lot of waterways in the state. I live on the east coast of Australia where scarves and warm things are not needed, so making them is alas a waste of time, so I was interested in the other things you had. I noticed everyone is saying they don’t get any return on their items. My friend pays her gardener $40 (Australian ) an hour (and a lot of gardeners charge far more ) and if I charged that on top of the cost of materials no one would even look at my items let alone buy them. It’s sad hand made items have so little “value”. I made a cotton Afghan for a thank you gift and the yarn cost me $100 and it took me 30 hours and I’m a fast crocheter. It was a complicated pattern and turned out beautifully but who would pay $1,300 ($837 American) for it? Yet that’s what I’d have to charge to earn a living. Even at the minimum hourly wage here in Aust, it would still be over $700.
So good luck with earning a living with your handiwork. And many thanks for sharing your patterns etc. All the best to you 🌈🦘
@@Soffity Hi. Very similar here selling handmade items; and from what I gather, most places in the world. By no means do I make a living wage or anything remotely close! But I also make jewelry, which helps balance it out. I enjoy doing shows now and then; but slowing down a lot this year, and will eventually phase out. Or maybe just one or two year. Often times when working out new crochet designs. I make multiples of the same, while testing out different yarns; so it’s nice having an outlet to sell them. A few days ago, I uploaded a new video on that very subject. Here’s some money, if you’re interested! 🔆 PRICING & SELLING TIPS for Handmade Items!! 🔆

@@Soffity Almost forgot! That’s Deer Lake, in Northeastern Washington State. (Bordering Idaho.). Many lakes all around. This one is a hidden gem. So mellow, such a nice swimming hole, shade trees, a small store; and another major key factor, the bathrooms are really close! 😅
@@cabinfevercrochet thanks for the reply. I live in a very rural area where there is one store that sells craft supplies but very limited. It’s mostly manchester and kitchen/house ware and party supplies. Do you get better prices for your jewellery than your crocheting do you think? thanks for the link. I’ll be interested to watch it. I’ve only just found your channel so lots of fun ahead. I’ve almost finished your baseball cap. Im using 100% Australian cotton yarn. It’s a lovely to work with. The mill that produces it does mostly woollen yarn and they are also branching into bamboo and bamboo wool/cotton blends which are a delight. Because they mostly cater to people making garments they don’t have many bright colours. I did beg them to branch out and to their credit they replied to my email and have a few more brighter colours now. I buy their yarns when they are on sale. You can buy 200g of pure cotton or wool for $12. (About $7.40 US). If you would like to look at my Instagram you will see some of my projects as well as some of the Aussie visitors I have. 🦘. Soffity34 is my user name. The only people who make a living from Crocheting seem to be those with a sponsor and a large following such as Crochet Crowd. Having access to so many other crocheters over the internet is marvellous as I don’t have that face to face alas. I’m just about to finish the trim on the brim of your terrific cap. Thanks for the time and effort you put into your videos. Deer lake is just lovely. 🌈🌈🦘
Thank you for sharing. I'd really like to make and sell. Someday maybe I'll be able to.
I hope you'll give selling a try sometime. I started out with a couple of places that had no long-term commitment. That way, if I decided it wasn't for me or I wanted to try elsewhere, I could. Qithout losing out or feeling pressured.
Thank you for this. I do not sell. But this is a question that is asked on crochet groups. How much things are sold for is the next question that is asked. Maybe you could cover that. I am going to recommend this video. TY
Oh, thank you! I really appreciate you sharing! I do have a new video on pricing, released a few days ago. Here’s the link! 🔆 PRICING & SELLING TIPS for Handmade Items!! 🔆

How wonderful! Thank you so much! Hope you have a lot of crocheting fun with it! Still one of my top favorites, and sellers! 😍
Wonderful projects. I crochet to raise funds for dog rescue. Great ideas. Thank you.
That’s a beautiful thing you do. All of our four-legged family members are rescues, or strays that have adopted us! 🐶🐾😻
Good work,I myself crochet it's lot of work , and at the same time it's fun ,😊
Thank you! How fun you do it too! And so true on both points!! I’m always so happy to be there once set up; but at the end of the day, when it’s time to break down…oh my! 😅
Love,love, love the baseball caps!
Yay!!! Thank you! 💗💗💗 I also have a cooler weather version, in my hats playlist.
Hi From Australia, just found you and loved watching as you explained some of your work and did a show and tell. Thank you for sharing. 😀
Hello, and a great big welcome, from down under! So very happy to have you here. I appreciate your kind and inspiring comment, too. 😃🌺💕
I know how to burn-out thing feels. I often say, "If I crochet one more thing, my hands are going to fall off!" 😂
😅 That’s it!! Taking breaks are good, to come back, refreshed and re-inspired. 💗
Beautiful items. I’m too slow to crochet for retail. I will do it for self and family but that’s about it. But your stuff is really nice. I just found your channel and now I’m a new subscriber. It looks beautiful there, enjoy the lake and sunshine. Winter will be here soon enough.
I appreciate that, thank you. 💕 Making for yourself and gifting is wonderful! So true about winter being around the corner! 😅
Thank you for so generously sharing your patterns and information on selling. Great items!
My pleasure, and glad you enjoyed! 🌻
