Hi Tre,10 out of 10 to the subscriber who requested this epic song, was all about the M25 that goes around London. He was stuck in a 4 hours traffic jam,so he decided to write this song, while he was delayed.
LOVE his voice! I was introduced to him by my late husband when we first met in 1997. The first song he ever played me, which he dedicated to me, was “I Just Wanna Be With You”. Ever since he passed in 2018 I still can’t listen to it without crying.
Chris is a brilliant guitar player and song writer, I saw him back in the 80's playing support to Clapton and he blew him off the stage, sadly he has suffered horrendous health issues that would have broken most of us but he kept going, one of the North East of England's finest Sons.
I saw Chris as support at the NEC to Eric. He was excellent but to say he blew away Eric is rubbish. Eric gave a classic performance AND I found a new music hero in Chris Rea.
@@RushfanUK You are entitled to your opinion. I completely disagree. Eric sometimes makes things look effortless. I wonder why you went to the concert if you had such a low opinion of one of the master blues players in the world. I love Chris and have followed him for years. I worried for him over his illness. I have all his Albums. But he would be the first to say how much he admired Eric's musicianship.
GRIDLOCKED ON THE M25 SOUNDS so Distopian it gives me the chills Cris was such a master of his craft, mooching to on the beach takes me back to a wonderful holiday in Crete
Actually about the hell that is the M25 and M4 at peak traffic times, having lived and worked in and around Weybridge for around 4 years the M25 is sheer hell, I used to come back up to the North East to see family and would get up at 3am to get around the M25.
Tre, I liked Chris Rea, had a couple of his records on vinyl. The first time I heard this I quit just liking him and became a fan. As Ian says, it's epic, and as you said, it's all about his guitar and vocals.
Have liked Chris ever since this album came out. My mostly favorite song though has always been TEXAS. It's the 4th song on this album. Give it a try and see what you think.
yes mate i have been following him since the mid 70s, showing my age. Texas is really good but I like his last album, showing his age and change in voice. I'm from very close to where Chris was born so can relate to some of the stuff he sings about. Much of his stuff is about the Boro.
Chris never fancied touring America because"their chips (fries) are funny" He did but it sums the fella up,working class to the core, and no little talent.

@@grimreaper-qh2zn He blew him off the stage, 5 songs and he was ten times better than stale hand.

Chris Rea is a legend
This tune is just SO stinking outstanding that I have trouble believing that it's real... Damn!!! It's the lyrics...
Chris is so underrated
This is exactly how I would react. I'm a white guy from England, but this is exactly how I would react. Keep it going Tre. I'll my love.
Thanks for the video! Love this song. In fact the whole album is amazing.

Tre. Ooooooooh Tre.
This video is why I still subscribe to you.
Well done, sir.
Legend
Chris rea is Middlesbrough’s favourite son. The song was about leaving boro because of no money and work so he went London!! The road to hell.

BTW, regardless of Chris Rea's purpose and meaning in writing this song, it is a perfect reflection of our modern consumerist Christmas.
Consumeras.
...green savvy, to boot...
Tre, your reaction was exactly like mine years ago when I first heard this great song!
Have liked Chris ever since this album came out. My mostly favorite song though has always been TEXAS. It's the 4th song on this album. Give it a try and see what you think.
Good call, Mike, I'd forgotten about Texas.......'she says what'!! 😂
My all-time favorite is “raincoat and the rose”! He pours his entire soul into that one i swear!
I love Texas as well, but also play All Summer Long and Shamrock Diaries just as much.

One of the only decent memories of my dad is listening to this, well that and him reading me LOTR
I'd pay good money to hear Chris Rea and Robert Plant sing together ...
Chris is god
"This ain't no technological breakdown....oh no...this is the road to hell" Don't pickup hitchhikers.
Great song now try aurberge ! You will love it
Yes! Auberge is fantastic.
Chris never fancied touring America because"their chips (fries) are funny"

Try The mention of your name by Chris. It’s brilliant.
