There are quite a few remakes/covers in this vid. In order of appearance: Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love” is a remake of a song recorded and released in 1964 by American soul singer Gloria Jones, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts’ “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll” is a remake of a song recorded and released in 1973 by British Glam Rock band The Arrows, David Bowie & Mick Jagger’s duet of “Dancing In The Street” is a remake of a 1964 Motown record from Martha (Reeves) & The Vandellas, Dionne (Warwick) & Friends’ “That’s What Friends Are For” was first recorded and released in 1982 by Rod Stewart for the film “Night Shift”, Whitney Houston’s “The Greatest Love of All” was first recorded and released by George Benson in 1976, Bananarama’s “Venus” was originally a #1 song by the Dutch Rock band Shocking Blue in 1970, Los Lobos’ “La Bamba” was first recorded and released in 1958 by the late Ritchie Valens, a few months before his untimely death in a plane crash and was featured in the 1987 biopic film of Valens, Tiffany’s “I Think We’re Alone Now” was originally recorded and released 20 years earlier by Tommy James & The Shondells, Pet Shop Boys’ “Always on My Mind” was originally recorded and released in 1972 as “(You Were) Always on My Mind by American soul singer Gwen McCrae (that same year both American Brenda Lee and Elvis Presley would record and have released versions of the same song with the title listed the same as Pet Shop Boys’ version), Phil Collins’ “A Groovy Kind of Love” is slowed down remake of the British band, The Mindbenders’ 1967 original, “A Groovy Kind of Love”.

I did not recognize 12 of the songs in this list. It did seem to be mostly the disco music that I didn't really know so well. I do know some ABBA, but I did not recognize anything they had on this list. I thought they were gone by the 80's. So that was a surprise.
And I miss the 80's. It was a wonderful time. The music, clothes, hair, makeup, and just the mood of the country was so much fun. I know everyone thinks their teen years were the best of times, but even my father, who loved his teen years in the 60's, agreed that the 80's was a great time. And he had a family of six to provide for, with four teenage girls who wanted the clothes, makeup, hair, and music of the day. Hahaha. He should have been miserable but he too, loved it. It's hard to describe just how fun the 80's was. You have to have lived through it to really understand it.
Don't get me wrong, I loved the 70's and how easy everything felt, but there were also some difficult times in the seventies, at least for the adults. But kids could feel the pressure that was on the adults around us. Of course, I lived out in the country then, so the music really worked with that. I remember singing "Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" walking up our long dirt drive as it began to sprinkle. Looking out across the property and the wildflowers, birds, bees, and the trees, and all the little insects scurring and buzzing around. The music of the time fit my setting.
But then the move to the city in 79, and the 80's music fit right in for my teen years. And what a time it was. Again, there is no describing it. The entire feel of hope and happiness cannot be explained in words. But I guess it can be explained in music. And the music of the time really fit with what everyone was feeling. Just a sense of happiness and let's have some fun. Maybe others can explain it better than me. But if I could return to a time, it would be probably be the 80's. Though I wouldn't mind reliving the 70's again for that laid back feel.
I would also be happy to visit the 50's. I didn't live through it and would like to experience it. I hear it closely mirrors the 80's. And I must say, the music of the time has the same flair, as did the clothes and makeup, and even the hair. But then again, I've heard the same about the 20's. And if you listen to the music from the 20's, the styles in fashion, yeah, I can see that.
Anyway, I'm ready for the 30 year come back. Did we miss it in the 2010's? I guess it wasn't too bad, but it didn't have the umph from the previous joyful decades, and it lead to the misery everyone seems to feel now. We're behind. Let's catch up!

You want a playlist of this? Just search for any 80s pop playlist and you'll get every song from the video. This is basically as mainstream 80s as you can get. They are all eternal bangers, but are definitely just scratching the surface of what has come out of the 80s. In my honest to god opinion, musical variety peaked in the 80s, began to flatten out in the 90s and turned to what we have today. You literally have to search for a gem these days, whilst they were literally laying in every shelf back then. I remember going to the vinyl store near me and every time I bought the first cool looking vinyl cover, it had bangers in them.

My decades were the 1970's and 1980s. I was born 1959 and the 70's (starting 1975) and 80's are my partying times. Great times and the crazy fashion in the 80's I loved so much. I think I just went thru all the styles.
Now with 64 I'm finding many 80's fashion again, and I will wear it this summer in a toned down way. I mean no crazy hair with all that hairspray. 😜😂

Sadly, disco died at about 1983.
Was born in 81. My older cousin was born in 75 and she was ALL about the 80's so I listened to this music at a very early age. Her favorite song of all time was Eternal Flame by The Bangles. She and my aunt passed away in 1991(a month and 2 weeks before her 15th birthday) to a drunk driver. I wasn't allowed to go to their funeral as I was only 10, my mom didn't think me and my younger brother could handle it. She has regretted it pretty much ever since. They even played Eternal Flame at the funeral.

This list must be an amalgamation of multiple international charts. There’s a few songs on here that weren’t big in America but were popular elsewhere, for example, ‘Words’ at 5:25 charted very modestly in the US, but was HUGE in Europe. I imagine there’s a few songs on here that applies to

I've been through all these eras of music. 70s for me since I was born in the late 50s, then my first daughter was born in 74 and she was through the 80s and 90s music, then I had a daughter in '86 that weren't through 80s and 00s music, then I had two other daughters in the beginning and the end of the 90s so I've heard it all intensely!!!

I was born in 1955 so between the 70s decade I was 15-25 yo, and the 80s I was 25-35. A good age to experience both decades. If I had to choose, I would pick the 70s because there was more variety, artists were fresh and music was not as concerned with being a video because it was before MTV.
