So the map about Paid leave talks about federal or national government enforced paid leave. The U.S. government has left that decision to the states, in which most states have decided to leave it up to the businesses. Now tons of businesses still give paid leave, but it's typically between 3-9 weeks. It could definitely be better, but the map is kinda misleading making people think it's nonexistent here in the U.S.
That big blue county on the 'meth labs' map (where he said he is from) is San Bernardino County in California. It is part of the 'Inland Empire'. Also the place where all of the L.A. county gangs moved to when LA 'cleaned up' the area in the 80s and 90s.
More specifically, Nick the RUclipsr is from San Bernardino County which by lamd size is largest county in the US. San Bernardino's twin county, Riverside is in what's called the Inland Empire and is a part of the larger Los Angeles Metro area.
The spot the OP was pointing to (meth labs) was the Inland Empire of California. San Bernadino, Riverside, all non-beach cities. Arizona is one state East of there, the large dark county is Maricopa (metro Phoenix) where I live. The next state to the East is New Mexico.
@@ashleymeggan I'm in Phoenix, sorry. At the one point the video brings up the area & Kabir had mistaken it for New Mexico so I was working my way east. There's definitely more cities than I listed in the Inland Metropolis. I'm in the dark county East of you, Maricopa County AZ
You'll notice that the eastern part of Nebraska is bright red when it comes to bars and grocery stores. In Lincoln it's because of the University of Nebraska being there. The middle of downtown is just a couple to a few blocks from the campus so naturally there is an abundance or bars and restaurants there. The downtown is jokingly referred to as the "Beermuda Triangle" as it's easy to get lost down there.
North Carolina is an awesome state. I've visited most states, and it's my favorite for sure. In fact, I'm going there next week! Second place would be Maine, btw.
In the meth lab map, if ya look at Washington, the darkest county is thurston county, there’s a neighborhood in the town of Yelm called the pines, in my 5 years in Yelm they had 50 drug busts, 30 needing swat, with 10 of those just from one house
The average time between sentencing & execution in the US is 19 years. That's the problem. You should definitely be able to appeal a death sentence (it's a heavy thing), but the court system is too slow.
The obesity rate has a lot to do with preservatives and additives as well. I know of international students who come here and eat at familiar restaurants, like McDonald’s. Some gain 30 pounds in their first year at University. They’re eating the same food as they did at home, but what’s in it affects their bodies differently. High fructose corn syrup for one. Our food and drug administration is screwed up.
The way they figure obesity isn't always accurate. I'm 6'2" and 195-200 so technically obese. I'm supposed to be 178. I have no body fat and people say I look thin.
according to the obesity charts I am considered, by weight to height, as a tubby fat ass when in reality i have under 7% body fat. those things aren't very accurate.
The reason the Hispanic majority counties are in the Southwest is, well, it’s right next to Mexico. The black majority counties in the southeast actually follow the coastline of an ancient sea. The soil there is very fertile, so that’s where the biggest slave plantations were.
I would perhaps add - that not only are all the states in the Southwest next to Mexico - they were, at one time, part of Mexico. So, a significant portion of the Hispanic population, predates the Southwest becoming part of the US.
Thank you, Kabir, for your reaction to the 15 maps that hilariously explain the United States. It was really interesting and hilarious to watch that at the same time.

There is another map of the US that the majority of Americans don't even know of. It is the true map of the 11 nations that are in the United States right now.
To be fair, we have Family Medical Leave Act and new mothers can use their sick or vacation leave to be paid, assuming they don't use all their time the instant they earn it.
Well the area where there are a lot of Hispanic is because before the usa bought that area it was Mexico. Also my husband who's originally from West Virginia he says crayon like crown.....
In Florida, hurricane parties are a thing. Every person brings food, water, drugs, and lots and lots of alcohol. They go to the friend that has the strongest house and party until it blows over.
I used to read Missed Connections for giggles and one time I did find one that was clearly about my friend/neighbor. It mentioned the street we lived on and very clearly described him. He was straight with a girlfriend and the post was from a guy but we both found it funny that he described his hair and jacket.
That was really interesting. I thought it was interesting on the map showing where there are high populations of people of color. My city in NY is in one of the little red spots with a high population of black people. Since I grew up here and the only other place I've ever lived was in Florida, I believed for a long time that everywhere was pretty mixed like us.
In and around Detroit it's similar to NY in that sense; a very mixed bag. The further away you get from Detroit, Lansing, or Flint... the whiter it gets.
In the Midwest there are lots of small farm towns with mostly white people. Most of these towns historically share religious views. All the cities with decent population size will have diversity
i went to school in alaska there is dosers running the roads all the time in winter when we come back to ky me and my brothers went outside to wait on the school bus our mom called us back in because school was closed we looked at her and said why there was a little snow on the ground but we could still see grass showing it surprised us
The only place I've seen with as many bars as Wisconsin was, West Virginia. I was born in Alabama and, you couldn't buy alcohol at all in the county I lived in. You had to go to the bootleggers. That was in the 70's. I don't know if all the counties still vote to be wet or dry in Alabama. I live in Wisconsin now. I see a lot of news articles here about, people being arrested for their 11th or 12th driving under the influence.😱
There are people driving drunk all the time where I live. They literally brag about it and only get criticized and berated by people when they get caught. You be driving and and suddenly the person driving in-front of you is on the other side of the road. Or hitting the breaks for no reason, swerving, going slow so as not to draw attention but by doing so get pulled over anyway.
This was a fun video. The one that said why is so...hot in Arizona and in Florida i was surprised at florida. Maybe like you said humidity makes it hot. Zona is just dry hot.
Florida is the absolute bottom right corner, the Florida Keys, Key West is the furthest tip of the country there’s docs outside where you can walk down and touch the sign that designates that fact. Party in Key West and be at the very corner of the country. The other sign I’ve touched is the furthest west point of the US I believe was Santa Monica California.
I had a c-section with my first child and was having trouble healing. I literally had to do dressing changes on my abdomen. I was meant to go back to work in 6 weeks. I was not ready and asked for more UNPAID time off and was told no. I ended up having to resign. Good old USA and work culture.
Where i live in, NJ, we have paid leave. Its still not the best, but we get 2/3 of what we would normally make, and they pay for 4 weeks before and 6 weeks after. Each state has their own laws, some states have none though, and they are usually the poorer southern/ midwest states.

I think they don’t show the territories often just because they don’t have the same exact set up and rights as the incorporated states do. Most of the time the territories function as independent nations anyways. Also I feel like not showing territories is just commonplace for most countries around the world- with France as an example.
A lot of people ask why don’t Americans living in tornado alley just move? The answer is very simple: that’s where all our richest most farmable soil is. It’s literally where the overwhelming majority of our food is grown so if people just moved away to avoid the tornadoes a whole lot of people would starve!
If you were to look at a geographic map of the United States you’ll notice a massive mountain range covering the left side of the country and bordering the West Coast states like California (those are the “Rocky Mountains”) while along the East Coast is another much thinner range of mountains (The “Appalachian Mountains”, famous as the birthplace of “hillbillies” and where I happen to live!). If you then look at the center of the country you realize those two mountain ranges form something of a funnel with an entire third of the country being in the center. This geographic feature was created by glaciers receding north during the end of the last Ice Age (that’s why Canada is so cold and frozen: they got the remnants of our glaciers!). As they receded these glaciers carved up the land and in the process essentially tilled all that soil, making it super fertile and absolutely perfect for farming. However it is that same “funnel” created by the mountains on either side that cause winds and high-pressure systems to form so many tornadoes. And since the two mountain ranges are closer at the southern end of the country than they are up north that means those southern states get the worst of the tornados. Those states also happen to be the most stereotypically “redneck” states (at least as far as the REST of the country is concerned…) so that’s the reason why you hear so many people associate tornadoes and tornado alley with rednecks and trailer parks!
In Biloxi Mississippi where I have lived since 1972, apart from the 3 years I went back to England in the 90s. We have an Airforce base in Biloxi. We get a few foreign students on the base. The 70s was great because we had loads of Iranian Airforce students and Saudi Arabian students too. Oh to bring back the 70s. I live in a town of about 9,000 population in Illinois. We have two grocery stores and eight bars. The population is 98% white. We're in a rural county of 21,512 people that is 98% white and the main industry is farming. We have both a McDonald's and a Walmart.
Maternity leave is so sad. I remember when i had my first you got 6 weeks of leave then another 6 weeks of family leave. I went back to work after 9 because i couldn’t afford to stay home anymore. With my second i took the whole 12 but the only reason I was able to was because i had an amazing boss that paid me under the table to do things like payroll from home. So i had a little bit of supplemental income added to my disability. They always talk about how proud and what an amazing country we are then these things add up that make you think wait…are we? Don’t get me wrong i love my country but there are things that need to change big time and they never do.
I live near the Illinois/ Wisconsin border, and yeah there's bars everywhere. There's tiny little towns with maybe just a couple hundred people but they have a bar! Lol No real grocery store or anything but a few houses and a bar. Plus, yep Illinois is fat cuz we have good, fat, food!!

There’s so many more fast food restaurants because it’s cheaper than groceries in the south east so for some families it’s less expensive and more convenient when people are working two jobs to go buy a bunch of chicken nuggets and fries. Studies have been done that vegetables and fresh items aren’t as cost-effective In the south east
The reason why we don't have paid parental leave is because Republicans don't want government in their business. Most business owners are Republican for this reason as well. We also like low taxes. Who is going to pay for the leave? Tax dollars or businesses? And who pays the tax dollars? As a childfree person, it doesn't sit right with me that someone can get free money for a full year for their choice of having a baby, while I struggle with getting only 2 weeks off. And then what about having more than one kid? Is someone just going to get 5 years of free money because they have a kid every year? While I can't even get a vacation? And I don't want to hear about how having a baby is hard work, because I'll be at work seeing SAHMs post photos of them out doing fun things, or at the pool, etc. while I'm working. So they want to be paid for sitting at the pool all day? I'd love for everyone to be able to have more time off that anyone can do what they want with it. Whether that's have a baby or travel, etc. And that's why I quit my job to become self employed. But just like vacation time, most people with good jobs do get parental leave. It's just not mandated by the government. They use their short term disability benefits through their job and they get 6 weeks paid.
Simply put, the Bill for Maternity/Paternity Leave has not passed in the US because Republicans are against. Our Senate is evenly split 50/50 each but Democrats have the extra vote from the VP. That said, however the Senate has changed the rules which still requires a 2/3 majority of those present. Convincing ten Republican senators to vote on the bill is like convincing a dog not to eat cat poop.
There's a reason for the green areas that indicate no people. Usually it's because Mother Nature has declared the locations unhabitable for one reason or maybe a dozen reasons. The West has so much land covered in desert and even now, some of the highly populated areas are losing water at alarming rates. Florida has a lot of unhabitable swamp. In fact, a little over a 100 years ago, most of middle to south Florida, including Miami, was pure swamp . Over the years, massive, massive areas were drained for development, creating an ecological disaster. Water WILL someday reclaim the state. The green line down the middle of the country that follows the Mississippi River all the way to New Orleans, is a flood plain. Here as well, some day water will reclaim south Louisiana. And it's anyone's guess as to what Alaska will be like when Climate Change melts it.
I live in the Midwest, in a small town and there is 65% Hispanic. My cousin use to keep the electric chair in working condition. When I ask if it bothered him when it was used for a someone who molested and killed a child it didn't bother him at all. He also said it may not be a deteriorate but they won't get out to kill someone else.
Sure, having the death penalty hasn't stopped some people from committing serious crimes, but there's no way to tell how many people maybe had second thoughts and HAVEN'T committed a serious crime due to repercussions being the death penalty though.
The death penalty, in all honesty, isn't meant to deter, not really. It gives vengeance/justice to the victims families. If the death penalty (where there's DNA proof) was implemented, then it might become a deterrent.
@@hifijohn it costs way more to sentence them to death actually. Because of the appeals. Most people who do get the needle do so 20 years later. A death row inmate costs taxpayers twice as much and honestly just let’s bad people off the hook. Being in prison sounds way worse
@@claregale9011 Absolutely that's a horrible thing. But you could also make the argument that what if having the death penalty saves 10 times more innocent lives by deterring potential crimes. It's that age old question, do you sacrifice one innocent life to save many innocent lives. But since there's no way of knowing how many (if any) crimes may have been prevented by someone having second thoughts because of the death penalty, then it's a discussion that could go on forever with neither side being right or wrong.
We still have questions about why Americans don't have overall paid maternity leave...makes normal since, and actually feeds into other issues that no one seems to really want to address in a positive productive way.
I lived in the south during a 10month internship in Georgia. I lived in what is called a dry county. Meaning you couldn't buy alcohol there, so no bars.
Paid parental leave will drive up employment costs which will drive up all costs. People say they want paid parental leave until they see the effects on the economy it the same way with healthcare. Any time the government gets involved with an industry, quality decreases and costs increase.
Parental paid leave happens in the US, but not every company in the US provides it because the Federal government doesn’t require it. I’m a man, and my company provides 4 weeks to be used at anytime in the child’s first year.
I totally disagree with the bar map. I'm near Houston Texas and there are a lot of bars, but we have far more bar-and-restaurants. I think that map was only showing actual bars. I can't think of a single restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol...even some fast food places sell beer or margaritas. We definitely don't have to buy alcohol at the store and drink at home.
That area you asked about is Los Angeles. I wonder what happened in 1980 that changed the US diet. Companies offer paid leave for pregnant people. Benefits are from employers, not the gov't. HAHAHA! I actually still use AOL. And I'm in Virginia.

The U.S. government has left that decision to the states, in which most states have decided to leave it up to the businesses.
I have lived in New York State all my life. We say crayon cray-on like you do.
The state that you asked “Where is that?” is California, southern California.
Don’t forget Bakersfield and Fresno!!
Where are you in Cali?
@@ashleymeggan I'm in Phoenix, sorry. At the one point the video brings up the area & Kabir had mistaken it for New Mexico so I was working my way east. There's definitely more cities than I listed in the Inland Metropolis. I'm in the dark county East of you, Maricopa County AZ
@@sikksotoo Oh, I’m in Texas - I just know there are parts of California that are more “bat country” than tourist destination.
@@ashleymeggan pretty much the entire central valley can be called "bat country"
This was fantastic! We love your channel sending love to you and yours from Orlando Florida

I live in wisconsin and it's the only state where your first time getting pulled over drunk is just a ticket and not actually a criminal offense.
The average time between sentencing & execution in the US is 19 years. That's the problem. You should definitely be able to appeal a death sentence (it's a heavy thing), but the court system is too slow.
In California we have paid maternity leave. We are also working on free health care, but thats an uphill climb.
Far too many additives are allowed in the US
The way they figure obesity isn't always accurate.
I would perhaps add -
that not only are all the states in the Southwest next to Mexico -
they were, at one time, part of Mexico.
So, a significant portion of the Hispanic population, predates the Southwest becoming part of the US.
The cannabutter search for Michigan lol. That's accurate. Also, happy to see my area having so many colored squares for diversity. ^^

@3:48 Yeah that's pretty disgusting that the highest paid public employees are freaking sports coaches and not educators.
Thank you, Kabir, for your reaction to the 15 maps that hilariously explain the United States. It was really interesting and hilarious to watch that at the same time.
How did KFC not end up as the most recognizable brand for the state of Kentucky? The state name is the brand's first word. Come on!

There is another map of the US that the majority of Americans don't even know of. It is the true map of the 11 nations that are in the United States right now.
To be fair, we have Family Medical Leave Act and new mothers can use their sick or vacation leave to be paid, assuming they don't use all their time the instant they earn it.
Many do not have any medical leave. What are they to do.
Well the area where there are a lot of Hispanic is because before the usa bought that area it was Mexico.
Also my husband who's originally from West Virginia he says crayon like crown.....
13"18 - Kabir you're not wrong. Seattle is the city in Washington where Starbucks started.
In Florida, hurricane parties are a thing. Every person brings food, water, drugs, and lots and lots of alcohol. They go to the friend that has the strongest house and party until it blows over.
This guy doing the original video has the best sense of humor!!
Don't take these all to heart, this guy pointed at Colorado while speaking for Wyoming.. lol
LOL right below the "How to stop drinking" state is "Day Drinking"
This was a fun video. The one that said why is so...hot in Arizona and in Florida i was surprised at florida. Maybe like you said humidity makes it hot. Zona is just dry hot.
14:20 - It does deter actually, and it is not expensive. Keeping people in prison is expensive.
Kabir : "where's Florida"

Thanks for helping me laugh at myself.
I loved the whole northern midwest saying, "Why is this state so cold"? lol.
The sad thing is that in Milwaukee, Wisconsin you can't get beer delivered to enjoy with your delivered meal or groceries.

Most maps only show the lower 48, and it is even more rare to get the 5 territories that have permanent civilization on a map
I think they don’t show the territories often just because they don’t have the same exact set up and rights as the incorporated states do. Most of the time the territories function as independent nations anyways. Also I feel like not showing territories is just commonplace for most countries around the world- with France as an example.
@@itsallaboutalli5633 okay but why is it unless if it is a world map or a map of North America do they never show Alaska and Hawaii
We have Casinos here in South Mississippi and women get 6 weeks maternity leave.
Lmao when you asked if that was new Mexico cuz of breaking bad 🤣🤣 new Mexican over here rolling
The DUI law used to be a few more than other states cause Wis has such a big bar and pub lobby to make sure it stayed for a good amount of time
This is a cool video, lots of funny maps, but the guy commentating called states the wrong names multiple times, didn’t know that one of the maps was favoring Chicago not st Louis. Kind of bugged me
I live in a town of about 9,000 population in Illinois. We have two grocery stores and eight bars. The population is 98% white. We're in a rural county of 21,512 people that is 98% white and the main industry is farming. We have both a McDonald's and a Walmart.
Tbf some jobs offer better benefits, such as paid maternity leave. There isn't a requirement to offer anything as mandated by the federal government.
As someone Highly fascinated by the paranormal, I'm happy to see that Haunted is the most common Google search in my home state! 😁
2:23 New Mexico is a state Kabir… That’s San Bernardino County, California
The biggest county in the USA.
I didn't realize how rough your state geography was 😅 I doesn't make sense for it to be amazing considering where you live and how rarely you visit the US so I don't blame you at all. But it is hilarious where you think places are 😆
There’s so many more fast food restaurants because it’s cheaper than groceries in the south east so for some families it’s less expensive and more convenient when people are working two jobs to go buy a bunch of chicken nuggets and fries. Studies have been done that vegetables and fresh items aren’t as cost-effective In the south east
Also the cheapest foods to buy are carbs. Not fresh veggies and fruit.
I live in PA, and I love when he asked if Pittsburgh had money
That was funny and alot of
What! Whyyyy? Get out!!
Loved it!
Look at a map of wealth distribution in Russia. Like 90% is on six oligarchs yachts.
Very true 😂😂
Criminals don’t worry about the death penalty because most people sentenced to death wait for 20+ years before the sentence is carried out.
Your geography is better than mine, and I live here 🤪 it all melts together after awhile
The place you thought was New Mexico was actually California.
Lol that first one is kind of laughable to me because I live in Nashville and there are more bars you could ever visit in a lifetime 🤣
from louisiana here - definitely get the less bars, but that doesn’t mean we don’t drink any less, just that we don’t do it at bars
Paid paternity leave isn't a national thing in the US but individual companies have it in their benefits package for employees.

What about those found to be innocent of the crime after they've been executed .
And remember the enormous cost of keep a prisoner locked up for decades.
Girl… we know. We been fighting. It’s a struggle. But our two political parties are Dumb and Dumber
02:15 San Bernardino County, CA aka San Berdoooooo (not New Mexico)
Parental paid leave happens in the US, but not every company in the US provides it because the Federal government doesn’t require it. I’m a man, and my company provides 4 weeks to be used at anytime in the child’s first year.
That is not a theory the south is more religious overall
I totally disagree with the bar map. I'm near Houston Texas and there are a lot of bars, but we have far more bar-and-restaurants. I think that map was only showing actual bars. I can't think of a single restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol...even some fast food places sell beer or margaritas. We definitely don't have to buy alcohol at the store and drink at home.
That area you asked about is Los Angeles.
I wonder what happened in 1980 that changed the US diet.
Companies offer paid leave for pregnant people. Benefits are from employers, not the gov't.
